Hola mis amigos! So in the continued chronicle of my European adventure we will be blasting off (not quite Magic School Bus style) to the beautiful city of Madrid! Exciting, right? You bet it was. But before the good stuff up date on the goings on. This week was totally outrageous. It was the equivalent to taking my final exams at school. We had 7 assignments (including exams) due on Thursday. It was very trying on the nerves. Needless to say by the time Thursday rolled around my brain was pretty much fried. We had to perform a version of one of the Arthurian Romances as a final project for our Lit class. It was high-larry-us. We did "The Knight of the Cart" and turned it into the teen drama "Days of Our Knights". I got ... read more

Howdy peeps! Another week past in good ole Oxford, England! It's been quite a week as I've been getting more and more into my classes. It's such a different experience to have "tutors" that don't quite give out assignments but expect things to be done and the only deadlines you are given are the ones for the final exam and the papers. There is a lot more trust and expectation for the students to perform. It makes it feel like the American educational system kind of handholds its students but we expect an exact syllabus with dates and the exact assignment. Here they don't do that and it's kind of maddening. My professors are so great though. Dr. Catto, who's the history professor is sooooo cute! I want to stick him in my pocket and he ... read more

Greeting Earthlings! So I'm writing from beautiful Lincoln College in Oxford. I still kind of can believe it. I totally love it here, it's small and kind of walker friendly, with the exception of the bikers who run people down and kick buses. It's been about a week already and I feel like I'm in this constant whirlwind of activity. I'm starting to tire out some but I don't really want to slow down because there is so much to be seen. Last Sunday en route to Oxford we went to visit Hardwick Hall. It's a 17th century manor and it is HUGE!!! There are two parts the old house and the new one. Now the old house is big but it's kind of in ruins. But the new house is almost perfectly preserved. This joint ... read more

Hey Yizzall! As promised here is the second part of my week of study in Durham. You must be wondering what the heck flushin’ roulette is. Well the plumbing in the UK is quite different from what we’re used to at home. The bathroom on our floor was a little temperamental and you had to keep flushing it until it caught and flushed. It was always an adventure as to how many times you’d have to flush until it went down and it was even more exciting when the toilet caught in less than five flushes. So there you have it: Flushin’ Roulette was born and coined by my friend Anna. Wednesday we ventured off to Escomb Church, Hexam Abbey and Bede’s World. That’s right folks, Bede’s Wold. Escomb church was built in the late 7th ... read more

Hey Beautiful People! So it's been about a week that I've been here in good ole Durham, UK. I must say that this is quite a beautiful city. So beautiful that I'm even considering apply to a graduate program at the university that I've been attending for the week. How wild would that be?? Right now I'm taking a break, listening to Tchaikovsky's Opus no. 37, and writing to y'all. So to prevent this from being painfully long and overloading you and myself on information this is going to be divided into two parts, see I'm thinking of you. Oh yea, feel the love We got here on Sunday afternoon after spending part of the day at the beach, which was soooo lovely. Durham is kind of quite and very hilly. The streets are narrow, some ... read more

Howdy! Well I made it safely across the Atlantic! The flight really wasn't all that bad. It was kind of cramped but I was only on there for 6 hours. I was sitting next to this father and son who were on their way to Scotland for the son to participate in this bag piping competition. The son was skinny, longish floppy hair, wore glasses and seemed slightly awkward but he could finish a Rubik's cube in like a minute! Impressive to say the least. Anywho, I had been waiting all day for the excitement of going abroad to kick in and it finally happened when we were descending into Scotland and I could see the landscape through the window. I was quite happy to see everyone again and we were a chatty bunch, catching up ... read more

Hola Folks! So this is the first entry in my travel blog for my experience in Europe. I'm actually quite excited to be studying at Oxford and touring parts of the continent. For the past few months I've been getting a lot of questions about where I'm going and what I'm doing, so I thought it'd be cool to do a blog so that you lovely people can keep up with my doings Ok so I just finished the first part of the European Studies program which was conducted at the University of the South. I took a class that spanned 1000 years of history of the Middle Ages. It was kind of intense. 3 hours a day in class for 3 weeks! But it was pretty interesting. Sewanee is a little town close to Chattanooga. ... read more
