| 7th August 2009 alexis | - From: A long update Wow Liron! It sounds like your learning a lot, and having many different experiences! We miss you lots, and can't wait to see you! The kids response to STDs was really interesting..do the guys think that if you rape a girl, they will get rid of aids? I have heard that many times before! Be safe, have fun, and can't wait to see you when you get home! |

| 25th June 2009 alexis | wow - From: Leaving to Shamba (the school) Liirrrooon! I miss you! Anyway I am glad that you are having fun now..and that the culture shock is settling in and you are adapting better....I am glad you are eating...I don't want you coming back anorexic! I cannot believe what great things you are doing and I am so proud of you! Keep doing good work! Good luck with all the kids, and continue having fun! Also, men in Africa believe that if you rape a girl it will get rid of Aids. I can find research for you on that if you were able and wanted to teach the kids that! Anyway continue writing, and be safe! BTW: When you get home you must watch Hangover..a movie you would enjoy! |

| 15th June 2009 Christine | Hey There - From: My First few days in Africa Hey Liron, I'm sorry to hear about the local troubles. It's a real culture shock, isn't it? I hope that once you get settled in, and Emily joins you, you'll feel a bit more comfortable. It's unfortunate that you constantly have to watch your back! And the lifestyle changes.... definitely a humbling experience! I like that you're already thinking about ways to help out in any way possible. From the challenge of finding medicine to recreational activities... They are lucky to have you! This experience, to say the least, gives you a unique, reversal perspective of what it's like to be in the minority group. Something I've only mildly experienced here in the US at the Korean Galleria! Well, it's only been one week out of the 12, and I already miss you! Stay safe, & keep us posted. Love you! Muah, Christine |
