This entry of my travel blog is written by Charlotte, I got lazy!!! She has a great memory, is faster at typing and has a great and humorous account of our trip to Bolivia: Copacabana, Bolivia! We leave Cusco late one night on a bus to Copacabana and once again we have been jipped! The bus we get on looks NOTHNING like what we were shown our bus would be. Its probably 20 years old and we knew as soon as we got on the bus that we were in for an interesting next few hours. Mark will sleep on any moving vehicle but I stayed awake the majority of the night. At 4am the bus stops and the luggage compartment opens for about 5 minutes. I hate to think what was going on down there ... read more

Peru... We landed in Lima, Peru’s largest city, on the 7th of Feb and were greeted at the airport by a driver that our hostel had sent to pick us up. Going from the airport to Miraflores in Lima we got our first glimpse of what we had got ourselves in for. First thing to note was the drivers do pretty much what they feel like when on the road and they love to beep! I mean any chance they get to give a few blows of the horn they go for it, its the countries favourite pass time as we found out in the next few weeks in this country. We stayed in a hostel called Family House Backpackers and I have to say we were really lucky to find such a nice hostel to ... read more

I’m back... It’s been awhile but I’m back and on the road again! After spending 2 and a half years living and working in Australia I got to the stage when I felt I had to go see South America before I start to lay down roots anywhere, so for the last 6 months Charlotte and I have been saving and planning our escape from Australia!!! I guess an introduction for Charlotte may seem appropriate at this time. I met Charlotte while living in Melbourne, Australia. She is from Invercargill in New Zealand and was trying out living in Melbourne when our paths crossed... the rest they say is history and I’m a lucky man. So our plan of attack for the trip is to hit LA for 4 days, South America for 3 months, then ... read more

Hello everyone from Melbourne, Here is an update on what’s been happening... After New Zealand I moved back to Australia and started my one year working holiday visa. I arrived into Melbourne and headed for Ted's (my brother) place in St. Kilda. I spent the first 3 weeks of my time back in Australia living on the couch in his place, from here I set up interviews for jobs and went about finding a place of my own. I had decided that Melbourne was going to be the place where I was going to settle down in for awhile, get a job and put money back in the bank. Melbourne is a great city with a great buzz. Its laid back, relaxed and the people are really friendly. It is also hands down the sports capital ... read more

Hello all and welcome back, this time I've decided to start writing this entry while I am still in the country that I am writing about! It is now time for New Zealand and what a pleasure it will be to talk about this great country. After I left Sydney I flew direct into Wellington which is on the north island. My original flight was supposed to take me from Sydney to Christchurch in the south island for the 18th of June but a certain game in Wellington changed my plans a little. Ireland were to play the All Blacks (New Zealand) in rugby on the 7th so I changed my date and destination to arrive in Wellington on the 5th. It is not very often you will get the chance to see your own country ... read more

Procrastination... that is what has been happening and that’s my new word thanks to a certain Canadian! So after putting it off for such a long time its time to sit down again and get you all upto dates on my whereabouts and what has been happening. So I'm going to continue now from Brisbane and fill you all in on the second part of the East coast of Australia... So we left Brisbane and went north towards Rainbow beach and the gateway to Fraser Island. Rainbow beach is a small little village, well its pretty much just a handful of shops to be honest by the coast and does not have a whole lot to offer except the chance to get out to Fraser island and that is what we did. We spent the first ... read more

Hello and welcome to part 1 of the Oz adventure... We arrived into Sydney on the morning of the 29th of April and the first thing that struck us was the cold! It was early morning as we stepped off the plane in our shorts and t-shirts and into the Australian winter. The second thing to hit us was the price of everything, bloody expensive! We had spent 6 months in Asia so we were used to having everything cheap. We made our way by train to our hostel in the middle of Sydney city, near town hall. On the way we could see all the famous landmarks, the Oprah house, the bridge etc but we would not be visiting them on this trip to Sydney, that would lie ahead for our return to this city. ... read more

Where to start... oh ya, welcome back once again, Ok, now we have Indonesia done and dusted and are in Australia and are beginning our Oz adventure I guess I'll fill you in on our trip through Indonesia, it went some thing like this... We left Singapore on the 2nd of April and got on a ferry to a place called Batam which is a small island only about one hour away from Singapore but is an island which belongs to Indonesia (Indonesia is made up of 17,508 islands, this just being one!) Arriving into this island we had to go through customs and get our visas for the country. Our planed destination was Jakarta, the nation’s capital which is on the island of Java, which is the main island of Indonesia but to get there ... read more

Hello all, welcome back again! The period since we left Thailand up till now has been alot quieter than the time we spent in Thailand. I mean quieter as in alot of the madness and crazy stuff we did in Thailand was left there. Malaysia is a totally different place... Our first stop after we got into Malaysia was in Penang, this is a fairly large island on the north west of Malaysia. We arrived in Georgetown and the first Muslim country any of us had been to. We arrived not having a clue where we were, we booked into a hostel in the middle of the town and after we had our bags put away we went for a tour of the town by foot... to be honest it did not have a whole lot ... read more

Well the circle is now complete, we left Bangkok, went to north Thailand, into Laos, traveled Vietnam, then saw Cambodia and arrived back in Bangkok again. The plan now is to spend a few days in Bangkok, then head down to the islands to relax before we head into Malaysia... but this is what happened instead!!! We arrived in Bangkok and straight away found ourselves some hotel rooms in the Schkumvit area of the city. Now you have a group of lads, on holidays, in Bangkok so lads do what lads do! We spent a few nights here in Bangkok, out every night, sleeping all day and going seeing all the "sights"! I'm not going to talk much about that, gotta keep this censored! On one night out in Bangkok I met and starting going out ... read more
