If you have ever been to Greece or Turkey you hear this line as you walk by most shops. The best is when they try and mix it up and say things like cheeky ladies or you want to buy a carpet or marry me and I give you 3 homes. It becomes funny once you can take it all as a joke. The GreeceTurkey section of my trip has been pretty good. I got to travel with Molly and Carolyn friends from co

Before I begin if you've never been to Switzerland please go. This has definitely been one of my favorite places visited so far and that's not just because I have family here. The people are adorable the food is delicious and the Alps are well the Alps I stayed with my grandparents and used their home as a traveling hub for 3 weeks. My first side trip was to Interlaken.
Italia land of food food and more food

My time in Italy though not that long has been great. I started out in Rome and saw most of what there is to see in the city although I'm sure there are still tons of hidden churched piazzas and fountains I didn't see. I walked around to all the sites so I got a bit of a workout in along with my sightseeing. I absolutely loved Piazza Navona where there are tons of people artists and musi

I didn't make it up.I'm finally writing another blog update... get excited Before I forget the end of our Australia trip was great. We went to Coolangata and Byron Bay and were pretty much beach bums for a week. The closest we got to surfing was playing on surfboard playground equipment and watching the real surfers from the shore. The beaches were b

Australia has been amazing Upon arrival at customs Katie and I got interviewed by an airport employee how long are you staying for who are you staying with how do you know them what was you last job how much money do you currently have on you. It was quite the welcome to Oz especially since i had to bite my tongue to stop myself from laughing at h

Last Stop in Asia

Well the time has come for me to leave Southeast Asia and go back to civilization at least for a little while. But before I run off to Australia I have a lot of Thailand updating to do. Kanchanaburi turned out being a bust. We found a great guest house with a huge lawn and hammock area sounds good right only to have our room invaded by roaches the last night we were there. But the waterfa

Hello Thailand

Here's another long update coming your way...Since my last little check in I have done some of the most exciting things on my trip so far. After Luang Prabang me and Katie went to the Gibbon Experience. Although the company focuses mainly on conservation of the gibbon's native jungle this was pretty much the coolest big kid playground ever. You get to live in tree houses 35 meter off the ground

So it's been a while since my last updates but here I go. Since Dalat me and Matt went to Saigon to catch a bus to Cambodia. We pretty much popped in to see Angkor Wat and the surrounding temples. Some of the temples are stunning and some are just a tourist attraction. We got up to see the sunrise at Angkor Wat and began a day of mass temple hopping. We had a tuk tuk take us around all the temple

WOW the past four days have been nuts I'm now in Dalat near the Central Highlands of Vietnam and have been on the go non stop here. On our first day here me and Matt went on a 20 km trek at the Tiger Cave Falls with a local tour guide Lam. The trek went through coffee plantations pine forests rivers and over quite a few rickety bridges. At the top of the mountain which according to Lam do

We've been speeding though Vietnam in hopes of meeting up with Katie and Mark as soon as possible. after Hanoi we went to Halong Bay on the northern coast of Vietnam. It was absolutely gorgeous but way too touristy. There are karst formations all over the bay making up 1969 islands. Some are huge with little caves you can explore and some are so small that they look more like big rocks. We got

Motorbike Mania

Vientiane was a very sleepy and relaxing city. The people were so nice and friendly you almost feel bad not buying whatever junk they're selling. Such a nice change from the crazy Chinese sales pitches It's hard to believe it's the capital of Laos since there are no buildings higher than 3 stories and there are wild chickens all along the river. The city has a very beach town feel to it but it o

Refugee Bus to Laos

So it wasn't really a refugee bus but it very well could have been. I'm finally out of China and in Laos. After 36 hours on a sleeper bus which we called the refugee bus we made it to Vientiane at 6 am. The bus experience was even better than my last sleeper bus. Upon entering the bus we knew the trip would be ridiculous. There was no room anywhere to put our packs so they sat in the aisle a

Matt and I arrived to Kunming about a 5 days ago which meant I spent my Thanksgiving eating cup of noodles on a train full of snoring Chinese people. But it wasn't too bad. We were hoping to meet up with Katie and Mark in the city but as badluck would have it their passports were loststolen. They headed out to Beijing to sort out the situation while Matt and I have been relaxing in Kunming.

Karst Topography... China's Most Beautiful Contryside

What a trip it's been. Getting to Yangshuo was a lot more interesting than expected. First of all you have to take a night bus to get to the town. That in itself is a disaster since overnight buses are built for 5'3 little people. I was traveling with 6'3 Matt at this point so they gave him the longest bed on the bus and I took the top bunk. The joys of a night bus include1. rolling over every

How did I end up in Hong Kong w a Brit you might ask To make a long story short I busted my knee thank you massive backpack and am now taking it easier than before. Katie and Mark one of the Brits we met on the way went off hiking in China while Matt and I took a lax approach to life and went to Hong Kong and Macau. The trip turned out to be great and everything worked out better than expect

My Chinese skills have vastly improved over the past few weeks. I can now say useful things like herro and looka looka cheap fo you and the list goes on. Since my last entry we've visited Chengdu Leshan Qingcheng Mountain and Shanghai. For the most part large Chinese cities look the same except Shanghai so the small towns have been fun. It's also quite an adventure getting to these sma

Hi everyone. It's time for an official update Beijing was a great starting location. After finding Katie and drinking the first of many cups of Jasmie tea we began exploring the city. On the way to the subway we were offered modeling jobs which we declined for obvious reasons. We hit up all the main sites Tiananmen Square and the Forbidden City and a place we called kabob alley. Envision anyth

Beijing at 5 in the Morning

I made it I'm officially in Beijing although it's pitch outside and you can't see too much. After a pretty painless flight over I found my sign and my ride to the hostel right away. I quickly learned he spoke no English and he realized my Chinese was pathetic. After a 30 minute ride in a 1980s VW I arrived in the Hutong area of Beijing. It's an older part of the city with narrow streets and

So I'm officially leaving for the airport tonight. After trying to understand the Air China staff for about an hour I'm pretty sure I have a confirmed seat. Katie set up our hostel and the best part is that I will be using their airport pick up service. Why am I telling you this I am going to be greeted at the airport by a little Chinese dude holding a sign with my name on it. I mean for those
