For my birthday Sib, Jess and I went to a wee medieval town in the Dordogne called Sarlat. It was about 2 1/2 hours out of Bordeaux, and not ugly. In the photos there are also a number of shots of Perigueux which is a little town that we stopped at for lunch on the way to Sarlat. Most of the buildings pictured in Sarlat were 14th-16th century. This is a pretty disorganised mishmash collection of photographs from my first few weeks in Bordeaux. It includes a number of shots of the city itself, not ugly. Also some from a day trip to Dune du Pyla and the port town La Rochelle, just over an hour and a half away from Bordeaux. Further, there was a day trip to an Eco-friendly sustainable botanic garden/large park thing. This large collection of trees also had a greenhouse with a collection of international flora, some of wot i liked and took photos of. So there. I can't say that the week in London was my favourite part of the Journey. I think that I'm not the kind of person who deals very well with Jetlag. And then add to that: 1. agro customs officials 2. the most disgustingly mouldy hostel in the world 3. a really thick layer of smog over the city (warning: too much information incoming: i've never experienced anything like it, when i blew my nose the contents of the tissue was black) 4. coming down with a smog and jetlag induced cold 5. dreary dark grey weather and a complete lack of [View Full Entry]

hello darling darlings, first long winded travel email ahoy! so, i'm safe and sound and in Tokyo. had a fine flight from sydney, blah blah airplane food is gross, no hot towels in the end, jipped! but was glad to have had the company of the lovely Jess for the flight, we were silly and greasy together (do airoplanes coat you in a layer of disgusting or do they just draw out what's naturally on the inside?).. after touching down and going for a special ride on a starwars-esque shuttle train, we took an hour to be fingerprinted and photographed (not [View Full Entry]
