quite the adventure
A little brain confusion going on here. Andrew served part of his mission in Aguas Calientes--Mexico. I was wondering how you were going to start off for Machu Picchu from there! Happy climbing. Mind the drop-offs.

sounds like you are having a great time!
Wow! What an experience! That is to bad your camera is not working:( We are all doing well here. We had a great 4th of July weekend in Huntington beach! Today I walked in the bathroom and found Jacob standing in the toilet. That boy is everywhere! Chad spent the entire day putting extra shelves in the pantry and hall storage areas. We have plenty of storage now :) It rained here quite a bit today and the kids took umbrellas and played in the rain. Continue having your amazing adventures and hopefully we can see a picture soon! Lots of love, Amy

Getting some flack
Is it a flap jacket (kind of like a pancake) or a flack jacket? Looks like you're not missing the two mile walk around the lake, but where's the mud? Keep up the good attitude.

Hi Patty!
Thanks for passing along your link. You took some lovely photos! I particularly like the one from the cortez palace looking back southeast. I had a great time in Cuernavaca, but I am equally glad to be home! I enjoyed meeting you. Have a great rest of your summer! Dan

Where in the world?
I have tried to find Mt. Watui on Google Earth, but can only find the city of Taiyuan. Which direction is this mountain from the city? Can anyone help me? I did find out that at one time there were more than 300 temples and 10,000 monks on the mountain, with 47 remaining today. In these temples are more than 100,000 sculptures and paintings. Patty, I hope you get a picture of each one of them! I found that the Jin Ancestral Temple in Tianjin was originally built in memory of Ji Yu, one of the younger brothers of King Chengwang of the Western Zhou Dynasty (1027 or 1022 - 221 BC). It is now the largest imperial garden in China and has won a reputation as the Museum of Ancient Chinese Architecture. Have a great time! Shauna

Hola Ms.E
Did you manage to snag a silk worm? ha ha just kidding Ms.E. What no assignments for your up coming class...they must feel ever so neglected, I think they'll need at least 3 to make up for their loss. I think Las Vegas needs a public time to practice courtesy in lines, especially at the DMV. Hope you keep enjoying your trip and keep posting about what you see(I'll find/send a fast, portable modem if neccessary) Happy Thoughts, Elizabeth D. -I survived A.P World History 06-07!!!!

Wow, Ms. Ellsworth!!
:D haha, and I thought I was busy! I've been catching up with your blogs so far.. and oo boi, sounds so exciting!! When I saw the picture of the Great Wall, I was amazed by the many steps.. O_O'' now I'm curious about it's actual length... ((ehh.. I would probably pass out from the first 10 steps)) The picture of you in a rickshaw is interesting.. did it feel a bit scary to be paddled around? it looks a bit easy to fall out of if the driver attempts sharp turns.. :D btw, pretty blue skirt in the journal a while back. *heart* You look like your enjoying yourself. ;] Have even more fun in the days to come~!! jya ne~!

Great Wall
Boy, am I confused! I have been looking at different websites of the Great Wall and have found way different information. While most sites agree that it was built by 3 main dynasties (Qin, Han & Ming) starting in about 221 BC to keep out invaders from the north (the Mongols), they can't quite agree on how long it is. I have seen anywhere from 1,500 miles to 4,500 miles, and one site stating that it could be as long as 50,000 km (31,068 miles!). One site I read stated that it was built by Emperor Tsu of the Chang Dynasty in 11th century BC to keep out hordes of Siamese cats that the people were very suspicious of that flourished on the Mongolian plains. It also states that firecrackers were invented to scare off/blow up unsupecting cats. Now that I look at the address of this site, it is "idiotica.com", so I guess this is one big hoax. I am glad to know this as most things in this article just did not add up.
