Our wedding on the 10th September 2011 was the most wonderful day of our lives and thanks to you, our fabulous friends and family, we then departed on the honeymoon of a lifetime! Your beautiful cards and messages sent us away with huge smiles on our faces and your generous gifts made our trip possible. We have written this blog to share with you some of the magical moments of our holdiday and we hope that you enjoy reading about it as much as we enjoyed experiencing it!

A million thank you's from,

Day 12 - On our final day we were collected from Kasha by an amazing guide who introduced himself as Morgan Freeman - he actually did look and sound just like him hehe! He drove us to Stone Town telling us all about the history of Zanzibar on the way, it was really nice hearing such local knowledge and really funny when he kept slamming on his breaks to buy coconuts from the little stalls on the side of the road as he could sell them on for double the price in town - a real Del Boy character! He arranged for one of his friends in town to meet us at the hotel to take us on a walking tour of Stone Town. This was amazing although possibly not the best idea to take Mr ... read more

Day 9 - Our flight from Sand Rivers into Dar Es Salam was great and we literally got off the plan at Dar for 5 minutes while they refueled before getting back on to go to Zanzibar. We definitely have a fondness for the little departures lounge now after being in and out of it so many times - it's so relazed with no tickets, you just tell them where you're headed and off you go! The views from the plane over the Ocean were amazing and we arrived in Zanzibar in just 20 minutes - oh to own a private jet for all the commuting back home. We were a bit concerned at firs that noone was at Zanaibar to meet us for our transfer but after about 10 minutes a guy came rushing over ... read more

Day 7 - As Anton has just said to me the only word to describe Sand Rivers is WOW!!!! The place is absolutely stunning, with views over the river and amazing suite bedrooms, Sand Rivers quickly became our favourite place in Africa. We were met by our guide Emanuel after a quick final drive from Lake Manze with Adam and Daniel. We had been due to meet under a HUGE baobab tree but when we arrived a pride of lions had taken residence there - Manze really was the lion place for us. Emanuel was great - incredibly experienced and full of information so our 2 hour drive to Sand Rivers was great. The landscape around the area was very different to Manze; much rockier and lots more trees - leopard country if ever I saw ... read more

Day 3 - We flew from Ras Kutani back to the local departures lounge at Dar (the funniest airport lounge in the world!) and then after about half an hour waiting we flew in a slightly bigger plane this time - about 12 seats - into the Selous Game Reserve to start the safari element of our trip. When we landed we were met by our guide Adam and driver Daniel who were both really lovely. They asked if we wanted to go back to camp straight away or do a game drive which of course we opted to do (that's the Phillips safari conditioning in us!!). It was lovely seeing the area, it is so different to the Kruger where we have safaried so far, much less commercial and it's a real treat for us ... read more

Day One: The BA flight was good, very quiet so we could spread out across lots of seats and try to get some sleep. Getting our Visas was an experience - Anton struggled with the VERY laid back African systems...i.e. you just give a guy $50 each and your passport and wait for him to (hopefully) return at some point! The private charter flight was amazing thanks to George the pilot, the views were stunning, although the weather was very mixed today. We felt pretty special having our own plane and pilots with our cases just thrown on the back seat as if we were in a taxi! It was raining during the flight and the plane had no windscreen wipers so seeing the pilots hanging out the window to get their directions was rather amusing ... read more
