Well it39s great to be back in our winter home. Nice to be settled for a few months and back to our normal activities golf tennis and of course happy hours Travelling took it39s toll on the ole39 waistline. Sitting for long hours in the driver39s seat using the mandatory golf carts and the slow leisurely walks when touring doesn39t wear off the calories especially when f

Once we left Louisiana we headed straight to Texas anxious to be on the road and back to Arizona is good time. We had visited Texas before so felt there wasn39t much need to be tourists again. But the weather started to change with snow in the forecast OMG so we stopped in Austin for a day. We visited the Capitol Building another amazing piece of architecture made out of local red gr

New Orleans Louisana

As expected New Orleans was quite the experience. We spent a day and a half there wandering around the French Quarter Garden District and a local cemetery where all tombs are built above ground because of flooding. Our RV Park was only a few miles from the downtown so we hopped a bus both days. We met several locals as we waited for the bus and found them to be very friendly and helpful b

Theodore Alabama

We had a one day stop at Theodore Alabama and went over to Dauphin Island. Dauphin Island is attached to the mainland by a 5 km bridge and although seems quite far from restuarants and shopping was quite heavily populated. Most houses are built on pilons to protect from hurricanes. And what Atlantic Island would be complete without a fort Fort Gaine was still in respectable condition and eve

We completed the last leg of our Florida journey driving up the Gulf of Mexico during the last 3 weeks of December stopping at Punta Gorda Port Richey Carrabelle Mexico Beach and Milton. This part of Florida has been more of a relaxing time as we enjoyed the abovenormal temperatures most days in the 70s and 80sF 2030C. Each area had something different to offer from miles of pure

We finally reached our most South East destination Key West Florida our trip only goes West from hereOverseas Highway the 125 mile long road connecting numerous small gems of islands that are like a broken necklace ending in the very quaint historic town of Key West. But most surprising of all was how busy and chick it was entertaining all age groups with stores pubs restaurants bed

We spent 10 hours one day cruising along the intercoastal waterway and New River canal servicing the downtown in Fort Lauderdale. A beautiful and relaxing way to see the land of the rich and famous. For one fare we could hop on a off a water taxi stopping at stores restaurants and pubs where you could grab a drink and take it on the taxi again Our taxi driver gave a running commentary on

For a change we decided to hop on an open air tour bus that would tour us around St. Augustine. Weve decided that all cities boast oldest smallest tallest when it comes to buildings trees churches Its the fine print that you have to read as in in the world in the country. And we have to figure out if they are replicas or originals which is not always cl

Titusville is about an hour east of Orlando and is the best location to view the shuttle lauches at the Kennedy Space Center which is just across the bay. Our campground was located right on the water which was great. Unfortunately we just missed launch last Saturday but maybe best that we missed the crowds especially since was the Thanksgiving weekend here as well. We toured Kennedy Space C

Savannah GA

Savannah was very similar to Charleston with lots of charm and history. We did our own walking tour throughout the downtown. Savannah is set up in a series of squares 24 in total each with a beautiful park surrounded by a few houses and commercial buildings and usually a church. Many of the oak trees are hundreds of years old some can even live up to 1000 years One of these squares was wh

One of the main reasons for travelling through the Carolinas were the abundant golf courses NO you say. Gerry had been keen to get back here and see the courses again as this was one of his favourite guy holidays 3 times over. He booked 4 courses in 5 days before I could blink. We could have spent the entire winter here and not golfed the same course twice. Loved the courses exc

Sometimes we fail to realize that not all are familiar with RV jargon Boondocking is camping without any amenities power sewer or water hookups.
We had our latest history lesson touring through a Civil War museum in Harrisburg and touring through the battlefields of Gettysburg. It was a beautiful sunny day while we walked and cycled through the peaceful fields trying to envision the horrors of battle where more men died than in any other war fought in North America. The tour encompassed 24 miles and had an abundance of memorial

From a building originally costing 135000 to the rebuilt structure costing over 13 million today it is considered priceless. And what an amazing building.
While in Boston we took the subway into the city and took part in the Freedom Trail. This selfguided 2.5 mile walk took us past 16 historical sites by following a red line or red brick path and covered 2.5 centuries of America39s past. Was one of the more interesting days we have spent. Even the 45 minute subway ride was great Gerry finally didn39t have to drive

We were in Halifax and only received rain and big winds so spent the day at the Maritimes Museum oblivious to the havoc going on down the East coast. We had decided to not travel Highway 401 along the north side of the Great Lakes because of the volume of traffic which meant using the US route along the south side of the lakes. I think Niagara Falls is spectacular no matter where it is viewed from and I was able to

We were in Amish country and were amazed at the beauty of the area.
