Orangutans at a wildlife santuary in Sarawak.
We travelled from Melbourne to Singapore and then on to Kuching. Whilst in Kuching we went to Bako National Park on a small long boat through a crocodile invested river. We had to wade to the park beach as the tide was out and the boat couldn't reach teh jetty. Bako is amazing and we saw lots of probiscus monkeys and at least one posionous snake (it was asleep on a tree), a Komodo Dragon and wild boars. We also went to an Orangutan sanctuary where they nurse wild Orangutans back to health and feed them until they are strong enought [View Full Entry]

We spent 2 weekends in Darwin and in-between we roughed it in Litchfield, Katherine Gorge and Kakadu. We slept under the stars, swam in the waterfall plunge pools, saw wild dingos, snakes, wallabies and buffalo. The buffalo tasted delicious and the dingo thought we looked pretty tasty too when he started sniffing around us as we slept under the stars - hmmm got a little fright but not as much as the dingo. We went to Hobart for the long weekend before the Melbourne Cup. Mr & Mrs Fulton (Senior) arrived in Melbourne for 3 weeks to escape the cold Scottish winter. We had a week off with them, and went to the races, Healesville and Yarra Valley. [View Full Entry]

We escaped the city for a weekend in Ballarat over the Winter. Ballarat is Victorias largest inland city and is famous for being the site of the world’s largest deposit of alluvial gold. Gold was discovered near Ballarat in 1851, and the influx of over 10,000 miners in less than a year transformed it from a pastoral town into Victoria's largest settlement. We visited Sovereign Hill which is an open air museum showing what Ballarat was like in the gold rush. It has old shops, bowling alley, mines, costumed volunteers and you can pan for Gold! This was on 13/07, we went a sunday walk along Elwood beach towards St Kilda. This is a view over the city, the sunset was amazing, this pic was taken on a camera phone.
Hey everyone, Thought it might be time to say a little hello! It's been winter here in oz and we haven't been anywhere too exciting, just enjoying life in Melbourne, working and partying hard. We've had lots of good nights out here and even a few familiar faces stopping by Melbourne. We caught up with Mairi McNicol (old uni pal) and Stevo last weekend which was great fun and then Shaun (ex-SLAC co-worker) staying during the week for a few nights. Always a few malts to be had when he is here. Looking forward to spring and all that brings, our [View Full Entry]

Craig and I said goodbye to the Macleod on Easter Monday and spent 5 nights on our own in Queenstown. Queenstown is a party town, big backpacker place. We didn't visit any of the local vineyards in Central Otago but we did try out a number of the wines at a tasting store where you get load credit onto a card and then you select which samples you want to try. We found the beer to be excellent in NZ, tried lots of Monteiths and local beers at Dux de Lux. They even had alcoholic ginger beer which was very tasty! [View Full Entry]

For Easter weekend, Craig and I flew to Queenstown where we were picked up by Mum and Dad Macleod and spent the Easter weekend in Wanaka. Wanaka is a really nice little place. The house Dad had rented for the weekend was also lovely with loads of space and a big outdoor area to enjoy those NZ wines and beers. We went to the Warbirds over Wanaka airshow on Easter Saturday which was a good day out, if a little cold that day. Easter Sunday, Craig and I decided to do a hill walk so we climbed to the top of [View Full Entry]

Hey folks, We thought it was time we did a wee blog to let you all know what we have been up to since Xmas! Summer has been great here in Melbourne, there is lots of things to do and well, we've had a few visitors at Hotel le Fulton shall we say to keep us busy! Merry Christmas everyone!
Chilling at the beach in Apollo Bay on Christmas Day. Chilling was right, it was bloody freezing - well it was only 17 degrees but now we have aclimatised that's cold.
We spent 2 nights in Apollo Bay, Xmas Eve and Xmas Day. We then had 1 night in Lorne on the 26th and stopped off at all the beach locations on the way, including Anglesea and Torquay. [View Full Entry]
