This past weekend I went with my whole program to Madrid. We left really early on Friday morning and had to take a 5 hour train ride to the city. The ride wasn´t bad at all. We were all in the same cab, so we just hung out together, some people slept, some read, and some listened to music. Everywhere you go in Barcelona, you are bound to run into a park of some sort. I already put up pictures of Parc Guell, but here are some more of some other beautiful parks that I have been to. Parc Ciutadella and the Arc de Triomf are right by the university where my classes are at. I walk by it every day, and I am not complaining because it is so beautiful! Last Thursday I went to my first soccer game, which here they call "futbol." Soccer to Spain is like football to the U.S. It is the biggest sport here, and everyone is into it. The stadium is bigger than any stadium I have ever seen! It holds almost 100,000 people. The game we went to was against Villareal, I have no idea where that is, haha, but they are not even a big rival of Barcelona and the stadium was packed. My first weekend in Barcelona, I went with a group of 25 other people from my program to Andorra, a tiny country between Spain and France that is known for its cheap prices (because there are no taxes) and good skiing. One of the guys in our group set up the whole trip through his señora, who is a travel agent, which was awesome because no one else had to do anything. And we got a great deal, transportation, 2 nights in a 3-star hotel, lift tickets, boots and boards, and breakfast and dinner for 2 days for only 130 Euro! [View Full Entry]

My first weekend in Barcelona I went with the Vallcorbas to Parc Guell. After La Sagrada Familia, Parc Guell is the next biggest tourist attraction in Barcelona. It is located up towards the mountains, and from the top you can see the whole city. Most of the people that are their are tourists, but lots of others go there to hike or run because it is very big and there are lots of trails that take you into different parts of the mountain. A friend in my program here introduced me to this site and I have decided to use it instead of writing lots of different emails, and I can attach pictures too this way, which is much easier than doing it through email.
