14.02 Thursday, October 23rd 2008 I’m sitting in my economy berth on the Sunlander train. I’ve got the whole cabin to myself, which really suits me for the moment but may get a bit lonely later. The outer suburbs of Brisbane are sliding by lazily and yet way too fast simultaneously. It's FINALLY on like Donkey Kong!! Well I'm off on Thursday.. I'm taking the Sunlander train from Boomtown to Townsville. Take a two night break and then the Inlander to Mt Isa. Catch up with my Cuz for a night and then bus it to Darwin to search for a way into Indonesia without resorting to flying. I've got my tickets in hand and a serious battle of the butterflies in my stomach. It's truly a disconcerting feeling this counting down thing I'm doing at the moment. I liken it to a skydive exit. I thought you'd be gone by now Monsta!!! Well despite having left work over a month ago and being in possession of basically everything I need to get going (taps foot impatiently waiting on backpack to arrive :-still in Brissy. Turns out it is not so easy to just up and get going as I thought it would be. Well after much deliberating and research I have finally picked up my digital camera for the trip. It's a little beauty... a Canon G9.. 12 megapixel compact with full manual control available, it shoots in RAW mode and has the grooviest fun feature i've ever had in a compact stills camera.... Time-lapse video!!! Picked it up for a bargain as well. With everything i need including case and 8gig memory card i only paid $700.00 aus.
