Well my run of misfortune regarding lost photos and blogs is fucking continuing. January, 2009 (Trying to find my place in a foreign land) I don’t have time to finish… I’ll have to update this when I get home. It’s up to give you some Idea and so I do not lose it again. I will stay up to date in my travels with the crew and fix this up when I get home. Thursday, January 1, 2009 Recovery day: As you can imagine not a great deal occurred today. I moaned about losing my phone. We sent Man back to Marina to see if it had been handed in with no luck and the kids did far too much screaming and playing for my poor head to endure. I know, I know…. I really should be making regular back-ups but I just kept thinking I’ll do it after this session or after a few more paragraphs and never quite got around to it. What am I talking about? Well just last Thursday, feeling incredibly smug and self-satisfied with my efforts, I was in the process of uploading the biggest chunk of blog entries I have placed online yet. With my rapidly expanding word document open (containing my blog), I was preparing to bomb you all with my musings and bring you completely up to date with my misadventures. Wow... i need to take a deep breath and slow down for a few days but as they say "there is no rest for the wicked" :-) Still no blog to offer you though I HAVE started writing it at least. I'm off to a mates wedding tomorrow but the Internet should finally be connected on Monday at home so I'll be able to chill for a few days and get everything up. I've had a couple of losses though:- (1) I was so rotten drunk on new years I managed to lose my phone - can everyone please send me their numbers again. Just a very quick note to you all. No I am not dead. Hahaha I know i have kind of dropped off the radar but hope to bring you all up to date very soon. I've rented a house here in Singgigi. I'm staying for the month of January at least. I can't beleive how good this place is. I have a whole crew of the coolest local mates and a dope ass house, pimp new bike and the goofiest grin on my mug. Life does not get much better. On the road again
Tuesday December 23, 2008 Martin leaves today and I will be on my own again. The thought is not comfortable for me, though it shouldn’t be a big issue, it kind of is. I know I’ll meet more people but there is always that ‘ooops I’m alone again’ feeling I don’t like so much. Anyway, it’s all good here in Singgigi. I don’t know if I even noticed the morning call to prayer I’m getting that used to the place. Falling straight into a small routine I woke and positioned myself at the tables in the relaxing hut thingo to drink great coffee, eat a simple breakfast and write up some more of my blogs. Labuanbajo's main street
Thursday December 18, 2008 Labuanbajo is a ramshackle, yet beautiful little harbour side slum. I like it a lot… well what I have seen. Unfortunately I have been so sick I basically spent the day in bed. Every joint in my body aches like I have been in a high-speed car crash. My stomach has not recovered and it is a full time job not to… how do I say it… mess my bloody pants. I didn’t get up until around 11am and was back in bed by about 3.30pm. You’ll be relieved to know I avoided any soiled boxers disasters by alternating my sleep between my little bed and the toilet seat. Monday December 22, 2008 The early morning call to prayer from the local mosque woke me at around 4.30am. It was a women’s voice, which is incredibly unusual. She had the most amazingly beautiful, haunting quality to her singing that had me spellbound, as I lay stretched out in my room. No sooner had she finished I was fast asleep again but her voice stuck in my brain and will forever be a memory I have of this gorgeous little place. I met Dagmar and Yoost for breakfast at around 8.30am in the cool shade of the thatched roof relaxing area here at Raja. We had a leisurely feed and long lazy chat while they waited for their shuttle to Ubud in Bali. The few hours wait flew by and we soon had to face another ... read more

Friday December 19, 2008 I wish I was feeling better and able to explore but I still feel like a train wreck victim. I woke up and was out the door by around 9am regardless of how crappy I was feeling. There where things I wanted to get done and I have to check out at 11.30am today. I’ve booked a cabin on the Perama boat to Lombok. It’s a two nights, two-day tour from Labuanbajo to Lombok Via Rinca Island (one of the homes of the Komodo Dragons), Gili Laba (snorkelling spot), Moyo Island (nature reserve Island with a small village and a freshwater swimming hole), Keramat Island (another snorkelling spot) and finally Labuan Lombok harbour.
