Well here we are with only four days left.... We are currently in Cebu City in the Philippines.. but this isn't going to be a long post just yet. Just a short one with some of our culinary adventures and weird things that we've encountered. In a few days I'll post a looonnnnnnnnnng and final post to tell everyone about the last let of the trip! Here we go.. lets start off with just some odd observations I've made: Toilets: Toilet seats in India and Nepal were ALWAYS broken, so in the off chance that you're in a place (your hotel [View Full Entry]

Hello.. Sawadeeka.... Jumping right in... Well things have certainly calmed down quite a bit, I guess Thailand is good for that. But first, I'll recap our journey in India. From Kolkata we headed to South India. Our tickets were to fly into Bangalore, which I apparently made some serious calculation errors about because Bangalore happens to be no where near Kerala. Instead of taking a 17 hour train followed by a 2 hour bus, we opted to fly but had to spend a night in Bangalore. From Bangalore we flew to Kochi, in Kerala. We stayed at a guesthouse near the [View Full Entry]

Sorry for the long delay.............. Well i guess i'll start off with our rafting trip that was quite a while ago at this point. We booked a 4 day trip for 2 days of rafting and 2 days of canyoning. The trip began straight off of our 3 hour bus ride out of Kathmandu. The buses drove down a very bumpy road nearby some sort of metal factory (I thought they were lost), but this was actually the starting point of our first day on the Bhote Kosi River. For anyone who has ever been white water rafting...I have decided that [View Full Entry]

Namaste. :) This will be a two part entry.... Part 1: Happy Darjeeling.. Well our last day in Darjeeling turned out to be quite pleasant. In the morning we tried to go to a place called "Lloyd Botanical Gardens", which was really just a park with some plants. We decided to take it easy for the rest of the day. In the late afternoon I looked out the window and saw that the foothills were visible so we decided to go to the main square to see if there were any views from the top of the hill. Tourists and people [View Full Entry]

Hello From India.... Im not sure where I left off... Our arrival in India was rough, to stay the least. For the second time, my first day in India made me cry. We flew from Kunming to Kolkata on Sunday night (our flights were given to us, we didn't have the choice of what time to arrive). Arriving to Kolkata at midnight is a really bad idea as a tourist, so don't anyone try it. We visited three different hotels in the middle of the night. The place I had planned for us to stay in, which according to lonely planet [View Full Entry]

Well.. things seem to be progressing more smoothly these days. For the most part. After we arrived in Xi'an... on Sunday.. after rolling out the last few bank troubles we headed to the Muslim quarter of the city. I'm not going to lie, I haven't been enjoying Chinese food ALL that much so far... but Chinese Muslims are a different story. The Muslim Quarter has a lot of character. The streets are lined with vendors selling dried fruits, kebabs, and many other very interesting things. This part of town is known for the food, and we happened to arrive around lunch [View Full Entry]

Well, it appears that many days have passed since I wrote last. The last .. well.... 3 days have been slightly nuts... not so much in a good way. Although most of our crappy days have been made up for with some pretty awesome experiences. I guess I'll start from where I left off... Thursday... the last "normal" day we had was pretty wonderful. We were a little bit tired from sightseeing so we decided to try to go to a museum that Jake's cousin (Tom Chee! don't know if you're reading this:) ) recommended to us. The Chinese government tends [View Full Entry]

The Great Wall  Asia » China » Beijing
Hello again, Well, i definitely don't feel like writing right now, but i don't think I will feel like it tomorrow either..:) So here it goes! Today Jake and I somehow woke up at 530am again. We had a lovely cup of tea in the lobby and waited for Megan to get ready. We are trying to figure out the Tibet situation because its a little bit difficult at the moment, and by difficult I mean twice as expensive as I thought it would be. The bad news is, our only other option out of the country is by air which [View Full Entry]

Bicycles in Beijing!  Asia » China » Beijing
Hello All, So this will be the first of (hopefully) many posts along our 11 week journey through Asia! After 24 hours of traveling, we arrived in Beijing and had to wait in a 30 minute line for a taxi at the airport. The taxi driver of course didn't have the slightest clue where our hostel was, and ended up driving around in circles talking on his cell phone for an extra 20 minutes. But alas, we arrived! Our hostel is in what is called a "hutong" which is a traditional Chinese alley. When we arrived there were 2 trucks blocking [View Full Entry]
