Well, after almost three years of study in the US, now I am going to see Europe for the first time in my life as a part of educational collaboration. But I am trying to make the most out of my time to go around. Switzerland and hopefully other EU countries.

Yes, I just missed writing here in my blog. Isn't it amazing spending sometime somewhere gives you the attachment feeling to it? So, although I am back in US, I think I will probably come back here every now and then and post something. I wish I had more time, nowadays, time is running short and I can not finish all the stuff that I want to finish. I love my German class btw. That is (to be honest) the best part of my day. Evelyn is so nice, energetic and positive that I can not stop myself from appreciating her. Two thumbs up Evelyn. Alright, I am gonna sleep now. It is a bit late though. 3am and I have to wake up at 7am. Insomnia. Best of the luck, Momo... read more

Hey guys, That was a long break, I know... Things worked out finally. On Friday 4pm, I got my visa back to US from the consulate in Bern. I trippled checked everything there! Once I returned to Zurich, I bought the flight ticket to LAX right away for the coming Sunday (I could not re-book my flight ticket for the second time with Swiss air since the only time I could have used was in November!). However, I was lucky not to miss my quarter and be back to the place that I had been living for 3 years. The first thing to do after hearing the news was to inform my family, my close friends in SB and also my adviser. Preparing all the documents, and information etc. That took me some time to make ... read more

Hi guys, Any news? I am still waiting for any update regarding my visa. The last email I received was on Friday assuring me that they were trying their best so I won't miss my deadlines. I only have Monday and Tuesday! Crossed my fingers. Otherwise..., well I don't want to think about it now. Anyhow, I am still in the news sleep cycle (plus having some hardtimes going to sleep). Last night, I felt like going for a run. That was perfect time for me, but maybe not for everyone. Around 5am. Night is so calm, peaceful and relaxing. Sometimes it feels like that it wants you to go out and pay more attention to everything it has to offer. The silence, the stars and the sky. Anyhow, I convinced myself to do it. So, ... read more

Hi guys, I was supposed to be back in US last Tuesday 1 Sept. But, things have changed. Unfortunately, my US visa is not ready yet. I was informed that I had to wait again. Obviously it puts a lot of stress on me. But I have to deal with it in a healthy way. I am not responsible for the current situation and I hope that I can get my visa on time this time so I won't miss my flight (and the quarter). Last weekend, my flatmate Eva, informed me that one of her friends and she were going to a hike. And luckily, I got an invitation too. I decided to join them to change my status and not being lonely her in my apartment. We were supposed to go to an area ... read more

Hi guys, I am back from Turkey. That was a great, unique and somewhat magical trip for me. I was able to see my family (who were on vacation there in Istanbul) after almost 3 years! That is a long time, I know. Now that I think about it, I am not sure how I could really handle this long period. And defintely harder for my family specially my parents. I will try to write a separate post about that trip. I am sure it is not that easy since I was mostly enjoying my time with my family and not necessarily the environment (which actually was very nice and had a lot to offer). Anyhow, in this post, I am going to talk about the Pilatus Mountain located close to the city of Luzern. Although ... read more

August 12th 2009

Hey guys, Right now, I am trying to go to bed. But I can not. This time the reason is far more different from any of the previous ones. It has been almost three years that I have not seen my family. I agree, this seems a lot. Somehow, I could handle it, but I am not sure how my parents and specially my mom could deal with it. So, tomorrow, we are going to have almost a completer reunion. My parents, my sisters but not my brother are going to Istanbul, Turkey. That is supposed to be their vacation too. And I am also leaving Switzerland to go there. My flight is in the morning and it will take almost 3 hours. The time difference is only one hour. I guess, when you live in ... read more

Hi everyone, Hope everything is going well and you have had a chance to enjoy this fantastic summer. This post is going to be more about what I am thinking right now. No trip or any travel. I am sure everyone has had a lot of challenges in his/her life. This is a real truth and I do not believe that someone could say he/she never has faced any critical time or challenge in his/her life. One (including me) could right away ask why human being is created in a way that should go thoough hard times? Is it fair? I do not have any instant answer to that. If you are a religous person, probably you could come up with the idea that Lord/God is always examining us as human beings to help us know ... read more

Hi guys, Sometimes in my life I do not understand why I did something. Also, some other times, I can not even believe that I have done a work. Was it really me? What the hell I was thinking? Now to the point. This weekend, or more precisely, Saturday 1 August 2009 which is the Swiss national day, I went to south-eastern part of Switzerland. The small city was named Gordola. The area was named the Verzasca Valley which was really nice. It is really hard for me to say which part of Switzerland is NOT nice and beautiful. I my train left Zurich around 8am and took me almost 2:40 hours to get there. I knew that I had to go up the hill to the Verzasca Dam. According to the map, it was almost ... read more

Hi guys, Everytime I update the blog, I think I will be back sooner than before. But I guess evey 7-8 days is working for me now. Maybe one reason for that is the fact that I almost have established myself here and living my regular life. Go to school, come back in the evening. Go out for a run or swim, have dinner, surf the internet, maybe read a book and go to sleep. Luckily, I was informed at the end of the fifth week that my Visa to US was ready. Originally, they had told me to expect 8-10 weeks. 10 weeks would have been really tight. Exactly the day before my return flight to US. Now, I should say that I feel much better. At least no worries regarding my Visa. Sometimes this ... read more

July 18th 2009

Hi again, That was a long break. The main reason for that was that I did not do that much. Just stayed in Zurich. I am not on a vacation afterward. :-) I am trying to finish one part of my research that I have been working on it for the past few months. And to be honest, here in Zurich (ETHz), I could do much more than I thought and I am hoping to at least finish the two dimensional version of the code before I could start my real vacation and head back to US. So, if you got stuck somewhere in your research, just gentley ask your adviser to send you outside somewhere where you do not have that many people that you know. To be more effective, the language they speak is ... read more
