Ko Samui Asia » Thailand
Beautiful Koa Samui. This is a part of Thailand that has not yet been over run with tourists, and I stress the word yet. In Koa Samui there is a nice blend of tourist and local. The tourist things are cheap enough to do, so you don’t feel like your getting ripped off. To rent a scooter is only cost about $15US per day, and that was through our high star hotel, so I am sure cheaper bargains could be had. The Scooters here are different, more Japanese models then anything else. These scooters are harder to drive and in my [View Full Entry]

I think we made it to Angkor Watt just in time. Driving up to our hotel you can see how quickly and how fast this place is becoming a tourist hotspot. There is luxury resorts being built one right next to the other. The main city is filled with international restaurants, and clubs that pump out western hits, but visiting the temples of Angkor Watt shows the contradiction of tourism and reality. The temples are almost indescribable. They are something one would imagine off an Indiana Jones film. Some of the temples were actually used in one of the Tomb Raider [View Full Entry]

Wow, what a city. I'm thankful that I'm slightly used to scooter traffic from my time in Taiwan, but this is not even close in comparison! The traffic here is just as entertaining as many of the sights to see here, and crossing the road is like playing a real life game of frogger. we are staying in Ho Chi Minh city, formerly known as Saigon. Its a nice city with buildings that remind me of something you would see in Spain. Our first day here were went to the market, where you can find some good deals if your able [View Full Entry]

Seems like we have settled into life here in Taiwan, that we had forgotten that we are still visitors to this island and that there was still much to see. After a few weekends of heading into Taipei and not doing too much, we decided that we need a good ol' adventure and some fresh air. We decided to check out Sun Moon Lake located in the center of Taiwan. "Surrounded by green mountains, Sun Moon Lake is the pearl of Central Taiwan. Sun Moon Lake is the largest natural lake in Taiwan. The Eastern part of the lake is round like the [View Full Entry]

I'm a little tired writing this due to lack of sleep, because we have recently had our first run in with the local cockroaches. It started Monday morning...I was on my laptop checking some e-mails when out of the kitchen drawer comes the biggest, most disgusting bug I have ever seen. I immediately began screaming and ran to my room for higher grounds. Lisa came out to investigate and see of she could find it. We were both to scared to open to drawer, so we went to school. I bought cockroach killer (extra strength) on the way home, and was [View Full Entry]

So I got a new scooter! Its 125cc and its silver. I got such a good deal on it! I've been driving around Sansia getting used to the feel of it. The only thing I have the most trouble with it is with the kickstand. You have to use momentum to bring the bike over the kickstand and for some reason I can't really do it so easily. I have to spaz out and rock the scooter back and forth to get it over the kickstand!! In order to celebrate my new Scooter a bunch of us went to for a [View Full Entry]

Today the foreign teachers ventured out to see the Maokong Gondola located on the Brown line of the MRT. We arrived at around 4 pm. Our plan was to take the Gondola from the Zoo to beat the line ups because the lineups were huge. Unfortunately the Zoo was closed. On our way back to go and stand in the massive line a worker from the Gondola re-arranged a rope and we were able to get in line and cut about half the wait time because of it! The Gondola ride was scary at first. (It just doesn't seem real to [View Full Entry]

Fulong Camping
Fulong Camping
Not the usual forest camping I'm used to, but it was clean, nice, and served its purpose.
Its been a while since I wrote last, but finally the last two weekends have been worthwhile to write about! So about two weekends ago I went Camping at Fulong Beach with some fellow 30 kickboxers. It was lots of fun! We took the train from Taipei for about an hour and a half and ended up in Fulong which is North East of Taipei. Fulong is a tiny town, with nature being its prime asset. It has beautiful beaches and hiking trails. We spent the day at the beach then drank on the beach till late at night. It was [View Full Entry]

So I've been really sick for the past 3 weeks. About 3 weeks ago I had a bad cough. I went to a Doctor in Sansia. The doctor there spoke English and asked me about three questions felt my forhead then sent me to the next room where the nurse injected me with a massive needle. I was warned about the needle before hand. Apparently from what I was told its quiet common to get, and is full of immune boosters etc. He then gave me a pile of medicine and sent me on my way. The medicine made me feel [View Full Entry]
