| 25th October 2009 Ron | Darwin Research Center - From: Galapagos Day 4 Take good notes Mindy at the Darwin Center. Can you please lay out a paper on natural selection and evolution? |
| 25th October 2009 haviva Horvitz | Proof - From: Galapagos Day 4 The only way that you have proof that you made it to the top is if there are pictures with you in them. Otherwise, you have proof that your camera made it to the top . . . . On the other hand, I trust you. |
| 25th October 2009 Mary Lindsay | Love your Blog! - From: Galapagos Day 3 Greetings from Vancouver,BC! I am loving your Blog! Your trip is amazing! I am looking forward to hearing about the penquins! |
| 24th October 2009 Candace Haaven | Sounds like you are having a good time. - From: Galapagos Day 3 I guess you didn't "do" enough walking, or should I say "stepping" in Peru so you are doing some more. I enjoyed the Amazon but it was terribly HOT!! The lodge was very nice, even without electricity and a 4th wall in the room I stayed in. I had 2 little friends in my room both nights....2 frogs the size of my fist. They didn't bother me and I didn't bother them. I guess we came to an agreement! We saw a few birds that I have never heard of, a couple of monkeys, and the largest rodent in the world. Forgot his name at the moment. I had to wait 10 hours in the Lima airport for my plane home, but after 18 hours I finally arrived. Enjoy the penguins tomorrow. |
| 24th October 2009 Ron | Evolution or Creationism - From: Galapagos Day 3 Oops--guess I missed Day 1 on the tortoises--can't keep up with all of the posts! :) So....based on what you see, was Darwin correct about evolution???? |
| 24th October 2009 Haviva Horvitz | Penguins! - From: Galapagos Day 3 What color are these penguins? Daytime, nighttime, in the water or out? |
| 23rd October 2009 Mindy | Iguanas - From: Galapagos Day 2 The big ones we saw were a good three feet long. There were also a bunch of smaller ones, and we saw a whole family of black iguanas on the walk back to the hotel. |
| 23rd October 2009 Mindy | Tortoises - From: Galapagos Day 2 Read day one, Ron, that's where the tortoises were. |
| 23rd October 2009 Ron | Tortoises? - From: Galapagos Day 2 ...but what about the tortoises? |
| 23rd October 2009 Jenny | - From: Galapagos Day 2 How fun to be so near the sea lions and to see a baby one! How big were the iguanas that you saw? |
| 22nd October 2009 marie gonzalez | - From: Galapagos Day One Wow I wish I was there, that is what I call a vacation. Have fun. |
| 22nd October 2009 Bill | Galapagos - From: Galapagos Day One Sounds like you're having the trip of a lifetime!! I'd like to see a picture of you riding a tortoise or at least being chased by one! NY is unseasonably warm today, high of 75 degrees... Yanks playing tonight for World Series berth :-) Be safe and keep sending your updates.... hope you are having a great time - Bill |
| 22nd October 2009 anonymous | galapagps - From: Galapagos Day One Sounds great, especially the turtles. Eileen and Bert |
| 22nd October 2009 Mari | Galapagos - From: Galapagos Day One Hi-I'd love to see those giant tortoises so what's the island like? Sounds like you are enjoying. Can't wait to see pictures didn't know you enjoyed birds. I've had my run too when I nearly lost an owl on broadway once tell you more next time. |
| 22nd October 2009 Mindy | Alarms - From: Galapagos Day One Using an iPod as an alarm uses up the battery very quickly, something I learned in South Africa. The main reason I was looking for a clock was to verify the time, we thought we'd changed time zones but were not sure. |
| 21st October 2009 Haviva Horvitz | Don't you have your iPod with you? - From: Galapagos Day One Don't you have your iPod with you? That should work as far as a clock, not to mention an alarm. Besides, you are on vacation. Time should not matter as much. (Of course, I realize that you need to meet the group at specific times.) |
| 21st October 2009 Ginger Stalcup | Return to Mulberry - From: Welcome to Quito As you know, we arrived at the Thunderbird around midnight and we had a wake-up call at 3AM. The plane left Lima on time and we arrived in Miami on time but the luggage was so slow to arrive that we had to run for the terminal after we cleared customs. After going through Chicago we arrived home close to 11 PM and I had to work the 7AM shift the next day. Good thing there's a higher concentration of oxygen here; I think that's keeping us going. Hope your trip to the Galapagos is stunning! |
| 21st October 2009 Mindy | Galapagos Day One - From: Galapagos Day One Sorry to anyone who got 2 notifications about this, I had to correct a couple of typos. |

| 21st October 2009 Ron | Tortoises in Galapagos - From: Quito and the Equator Hi Mindy--I can't wait to hear if you are able to see those huge tortoises that roam in the Galapagos. (Actually, I saw them at the zoo and found them a bit scary). Sooooo....is it evolution (Darwin) or is it creationism? Thanks for posting the interesting details of your trip. |

| 20th October 2009 Mindy | Thai food - From: Cusco to Puno Yeah, I'm in Thai food withdrawal. And it looks like American style food tonight, the other restaurants don't open until 7 pm. I don't know why, but the South Americans like eating late. |
| 20th October 2009 marie gonzalez | - From: Welcome to Quito Hope that you are having a great time. You are missed. |

| 17th October 2009 haviva Horvitz | What kind of boats? - From: Lake Titicaca What kinds of boats did you travel in for the longer rides? How large? How smooth a ride? Lots of pictures? (Like I have to ask . . . .) |
| 16th October 2009 anonymous | Sweet Dreams - From: Evening in Cusco Rest up tonight Mindy. Do they have the Westin "heavenly bed" in Peru? That's my favorite bed and hotel chain in the US. Overseas, however, I detest chains and prefer local establishments. Bon nuit R |

| 15th October 2009 anonymous | Judaica in Lima - From: Ollantiatiambo and MACHU PICCHU Mindy--Have you seen any synagogues or Jewish history while in Peru? |
| 15th October 2009 haviva Horvitz | Matrilineal?!? - From: Ollantiatiambo and MACHU PICCHU Not only is matrilineal not a word I need to look up, but you gave it away in your next sentence. Is having pet guinea pigs in this area like pet chickens? If life gets difficult, you can always eat them. Did they see them more as pets or as cattle? Do llamas walk around freely like kangaroos in Australia? Sounds like a great trip! |
| 14th October 2009 911jason | Switchback children? - From: Ollantiatiambo and MACHU PICCHU No mention of the kids on the switchback running down from corner to corner waving Goodbye? Or are they gone now? |
