Kyneton to Broome
Hi Trish & Mike it sounds as though you are having a fantastic time, your blog sure takes some reading as I have not looked for months. This would make a great book. We are well just having small holidays to Marego, Lakes Entrance and soon off to Port Broughton all on the holiday auctions. November Eden & Bateman's Bay.Russell is planning a trip to Alice to visit friends early 2013 and who knows where else. Donna did the Frankston Ironman and managed to do her PB of 13h.31m.32s and she pulled up very well but has decided not to tempt fate with her hip and will just do the local Tri's. Take care and have a great time. Pat

WOW, Hi Pat & Russell
Great to hear from you and even better to know that all is well. Congrats to Donna, that is a big turn around from Busso, well done. Sounds like travelling is still alive and well with you both and their are a few Favourite destinations for us amongst your list. One day we will meet you at Marengo ! Stay safe Mike & Trish.

Mr.Dampier
Dampier was given command of the "Roebuck" in 1699, the expedition left on the 14th January 1699. On the 26th July 1699 he reached Shark Bay, it was then called Dirk Hartog Island. One other notable thing about Dampier was that he rescued Alexander Selkirk, the inspiration for Robinson Crusoe, that is apart from being the first man to circumnavigate the earth three times. Once a seaman...
..always a seaman, I think you (like me) were born in the wrong era, I could see you as a swashbuckling skipper of a cutter plying around the new antipodes. Photos...sorry, but with such limited time internet available, when i get a signal and have time I have been busy trying to catch up on Blog entries (I am still a couple of thousand kilometres behind which is about 7 or 8 blogs!) but, maybe I will do some pics next instead of entries to keep you all interested. Stay safe Grandad.

I thought we got rid of you!
Now you just hold onto that Rum as you know it affects your heart at your age. Just keep it until we catch up and I will help you dispose of it safely. Amos (the camel) has been on sick leave, we hear, since we left Broome, he is pinning (spelling?) for us.

Broome
Looks a bit dry from the photos on Google Earth and bit red at the beach. What has happened to your photos? None posted for a few blogs now. Fish and Chips on the beach, just like being in the UK!!!! Brian

I agree you don't take any notice of what other people say. We meet a couple in Canberra and they were told that there wasn't much to see there and they would only need a day. The man was very interested in the war and was disappointed that he didn't have much time to visit the war memorial as they took notice of the others and only gave themselves one day in Canberra before they were heading back to UK. Do your own thing and keep enjoying your trip as we are enjoying hearing about it love to you both

Dampier
I was in Dampier, a few years ago. In fact 1970 to be exact. We used to sail from Dampier, carrying iron ore, to Japan. I left the ship in Japan and flew to the UK via BOAC in a boeing 707. So 42years ago and the brain cells still function. The only things I remember about Dampier, was not too many pubs, the open air movie theatre and iron ore making the place red. Keep up the good work I am enjoying the blog. Brian

Howdy Brian
That was a long time ago ! Well yes the iron ore still turns everything red, but you would not recognise Dampier now, it is a beach side 'suburb' of Karratha, where all the shopping and the pubs are. We liked Karratha where everything is new and 'happening', great shopping as well. Wait till you see the photos, sorry about delay but not much internet coverage up here and when we have it we are busy!! I need a holiday! Pics will come one day, in meantime I will try and get the blog up to date.

Red Dog
So glad that you guys got to and see Red Dog! Karratha sounds like a much more lively place than I had imagined but the resources boom has definitely helped spring up little flourishing pockets of wealth over there. Does Hammersley still operate the iron ore mine in Dampier or has it been taken over by one of the mining giants?

First it's not safe in the water...and now land!
SNAKES! What's next? You can't go in the water for fear of running into a shark, crocodile or a swarm of stingers and now you can't even step out of your caravan for snakes! Make sure you keep little miss Jackie on a short lead!

Ningaloo has been inundated with whale sharks!
Apparently there has been a record number of whale sharks descend upon the Ningaloo around Exmouth - http://tiny.cc/zu26ew via the ABC. I have been sitting here trying to figure out how long it would take the four of us to eat 1mill tonnes of prawns...now Penny does love prawns but that is still a LOT of prawns! I bet they tasted magnificent - they certainly looked delicious in the photos you sent me. Amazing connection to Joe! I still don't know where you are getting all of your trivia from, but it is very interesting to read!

Coral Bay better than Byron Bay?
It was interesting reading this article (http://tiny.cc/ck26ew via The Age Melbourne) after reading your blog, and also talking about it on the phone. The photos from The Age article definitely look stunning, and can't wait to see your photos on here! BUT, there does seem to a slight problem with things in the water that can eat you...and a 2 metre Tiger Shark cruising along the beach a few metres offshore would be enough to keep me out of the water until I got all the way back around to Portsea in Melbourne! And now as you move further North you will have bloody saltwater crocodiles to contend with as well! Stay out of the water!!!! Love you both xx

Greetings from the UK. Just been up the North West Coastal Highway and stopped at Miliya Roadhouse, via Google Earth. Those Google cameras have been everywhere however they don\'t give your top of the range guided tour. Not too much green grass in sight and I must have missed the coldies shop (pub). Makes me thirsty looking at scenery like that. Trust you have the electrics sorted on the 4X4. The last pictures showed Mrs.V in the sea!!! What about jaws??? Keep having fun. Brian

feed the Dolphins
I'm glad you feed the dolphins as I also ticked it of my bucket list and it was one of the best things I have ever done they are so beautiful. We spent a week at Shark Bay and loved it. We will be pleased to read all about the rest of your trip now as this was as far as we went. I would be interested to know what distances ther is between motel/roadhouses, if they are as close as they were on the Nullabor as I would really love to drive up the west coast. We hope you enjoy the rest of your trip and look forward to reading the rest love Wendy & Jeff

HI Wendy and Jeff
Yes, it was a surreal experience feeding the dolphins. I am sorry photos are not up yet but they will get there one day. Unfortunately we will be out of range as we will be free camping for the next week or so and therefore I am not sure when I will get the pics up or the next blog posted ..but stay tuned Mike & Trish
