Absolutely stunning scenery What an amazing place. All those beautiful red and white sandstone formations so close to the beach look absolutely stunning. And I can see Jackie taking in the scenery in this photo!
Looks Hot Just been for a drive along Fairfield Leopold Downs Road, courtesy of Google Earth. Not much tarmac and looks hot, not too many water holes (pubs). How does one survive?
Keep up the good work I am enjoying the blog.
Brian
Gidday 'Jimmy' I am glad you enjoyed the drive up the road from your lounge chair with a wee dram of single malt in your hand. How does one survive without the odd watering hole you may well ask. I suggect you google Engel or Waeco fridges to gain an understanding of how we keep the amber fluid cold for a refreshing drink at happy hour at the then of each hard day. It seems you are enjoying this trip as much as we are! last time we did such a big trip we did it together, ahh the memories, great times my friend.
Tēnā koe Howdy mate, you should be with us, you know that! All good here just need to get blog up to date for you all. Jackie is fine and missing you too, she says 'woof'.

Long way away! Derby is over 3,000 kms from Hawthorn as the crow flies. Which is roughly the same distance as London to Cyprus.
The only difference is that you cross 13 different countries in Europe!
We live in a massive country and you guys are so lucky to be able to go around and see a lot of it! Looking forward to more blogs and photos!
Ridiculous! Can anyone really understand how big this country is unless you drive around it and through it like we are attempting? We have done around 25,000 Klm at this point and not halfway! Your analogy of London to Cyprus is incredible and does put it in perspective somewhat.
Frustrating Sad to hear that you got all that way and weren't able to do the things you wanted, but as you said maybe that was because you just aren't allowed to. Or maybe it isn't peak tourist season yet? Who knows. Anyway, at least you can say you had a go and went up the road!
Did You Know? Derby has the highest rise and fall of tide in Australia with a peak differential between low and high of 11.8M.
Also Derby was bombed by the Japanese in WW2 because the air base and jetty were used by Australian Military Forces.
It is also supposed to have a population of 3000, what sort of work do the people do?
The place looks a bit red and hot.
I just love my raining UK.
Brian
Amazing red colours The red sand really is a beautiful colour and it has only just started for you here! Looking forward to seeing many many more beautiful shots as you drive across the top.
Turtles!!! The underwater snorkelling photos are FANTASTIC!!!
There are so many fish, it looks like an amazing tour to do! Very jealous of you swimming around in that beautiful clear water with all those fish and turtles! Amazing!
Kyneton to Broome Hi Trish & Mike it sounds as though you are having a fantastic time, your blog sure takes some reading as I have not looked for months. This would make a great book. We are well just having small holidays to Marego, Lakes Entrance and soon off to Port Broughton all on the holiday auctions. November Eden & Bateman's Bay.Russell is planning a trip to Alice to visit friends early 2013 and who knows where else.
Donna did the Frankston Ironman and managed to do her PB of 13h.31m.32s and she pulled up very well but has decided not to tempt fate with her hip and will just do the local Tri's.
Take care and have a great time. Pat
WOW, Hi Pat & Russell Great to hear from you and even better to know that all is well. Congrats to Donna, that is a big turn around from Busso, well done. Sounds like travelling is still alive and well with you both and their are a few Favourite destinations for us amongst your list. One day we will meet you at Marengo ! Stay safe Mike & Trish.
Mr.Dampier Dampier was given command of the "Roebuck" in 1699, the expedition left on the 14th January 1699.
On the 26th July 1699 he reached Shark Bay, it was then called Dirk Hartog Island.
One other notable thing about Dampier was that he rescued Alexander Selkirk, the inspiration for Robinson Crusoe, that is apart from being the first man to circumnavigate the earth three times.

Once a seaman... ..always a seaman, I think you (like me) were born in the wrong era, I could see you as a swashbuckling skipper of a cutter plying around the new antipodes. Photos...sorry, but with such limited time internet available, when i get a signal and have time I have been busy trying to catch up on Blog entries (I am still a couple of thousand kilometres behind which is about 7 or 8 blogs!) but, maybe I will do some pics next instead of entries to keep you all interested. Stay safe Grandad.
humpdy That cammel ride is prob the only movement Trish has had in years although there was movement in Busselton after England.I agree i have seen better beaches than cable, but not so many nudies in one place but you would not have seen them because of the senery you were looking at . Miss you both bought a bottle of Mount Gay duty free will drink it all by myself, love you both mainly Trish xxxxx
I thought we got rid of you! Now you just hold onto that Rum as you know it affects your heart at your age. Just keep it until we catch up and I will help you dispose of it safely. Amos (the camel) has been on sick leave, we hear, since we left Broome, he is pinning (spelling?) for us.
Hi, we are Mike and Trish and about to start the next phase of our lives. Over thirty years ago we travelled from London to Kathmandu which instilled in us a love of travel. We live in Australia and since our initial adventure have done the "family thing". During this period we have maintained our travel bug by regular trips OS but mostly by 4WDing and camping trips throughout this great country. Now it is time to do the big lap, "The Wrong Way Around." We have sold up in Kyneton, Victoria and put into storage what we wish to keep to furnish our next 'base' and the plan is to travel for at lea... full info

WOAH!
Look at the colour of that water! It looks as though it has been photoshopped! Absolutely unreal.
