Phew! It was a close thing but we finally made it safely back across the border. Those mad Scots did everything they could to deter us from returning South but as with all previous battles with 'em.....the English were victorious in the end. Firstly, we had barely left Dingwall when the road diversions started and they tried to lose us on the narrow twisting country roads. Secondly, they tried to sap our energy by not providing any service stations anywhere on route and finally, some thieving lowlander knicked all the signs for the A1 once we got across the Forth Bridge. A friendly welcome on a mountain road
A bit worrying to find as the Scots invented modern road surfacing
Scottish Air Force refuelling at the only garage in the country where fuel costs less than a quid a litre

Och Aye the Noo (and all that gibberish) from Bonnie Scotland, OK, we know what you're thinking. India, definitely. Pakistan, possibly. Vietnam, maybe. But Scotland!!! On Tuesday, we went straight down to the Hastings/Bexhill/St. Leonards area to try to set up some viewings of properties that we thought might be of interest. We managed to see 5 properties on the day but none [View Full Entry]

Hello Readers, We are now about 3 months away from departing on our big adventure. At least, that is the plan! As it’s the sale of our house that is funding the trip, I guess we shouldn’t be too presumptuous until after the property auction has taken place next Monday (5th June). Whilst we remain optimistic that it will sell, we are unable to make any firm plans until we know the sale price. It is that figure which will determine what we should set aside for our next property and for our trip. We chose the auction route because it [View Full Entry]
