So the best part of travelling in Northern thailand has to be the scorpions. We were in a place called Pai, pronounced "Bye," a helpful peace of information before trying to book a bus ticket there, about 30km from the Burmese border. The boat eased up to the dock. It was jammed with Cambodian taxi drivers. There must have been thirty of them. But today was not going to be a good day. There were only ten tourists coming from Sihanoukville to the border with Thailand. As soon as the boat tied up the frenzy began. Hundreds of hands grabbed our bags. Hellloooo.... So it continues. We've managed to get ourselves from Hanoi all the way down Vietnam and now we're back in Cambodia. It's been a busy few weeks and we have seen a lot. Thankfully, after the relative chaos of Hanoi, we got off the train in Hue and found things a wee bit quieter. Also a tad warmer, bliss. It was quite an adventure just getting the train. Hi all, Hope this note finds everyone well. Charlotte and I are getting ready to move from the beach town of Nha Trang to the sandier clime of Mui Ne along the Vietnamese coast. Hi all, Hope everyone’s doing great. We’ve abandoned the sultry slow pace of the beaches in Southern Thailand and are on the road seeing, hearing and tasting some wonderful places. Since our last update we’ve been entertaining our friends James and Tim. They arrived separately but as fate would have we all came together at Angkor in Cambodia. Well hello, We’ve not written for a wee while, sorry!!! We’ve been busy getting into a lazy groove. It’s kind of strange not being in a normal, every day routine and it has taken us both a while to get used to where we are and what we’re doing. Which isn’t really all that much. We got back into Bangkok yesterday after 24 hours of travelling and since we last wrote a journal we’ve been on beaches and enjoying the sun. It's sunny, hot and we've finally managed to find a place to stay for less than $10 per night. We left Bangkok a few days ago. They're beginning to run together now. I heard a rumour that it might be Friday. Not sure whether to believe it or not. Had a great time in Bangkok. Ran into a colleague from CBC in Banglamphu. Hi all, We’ve safely arrived in Bangkok and are loving every minute thus far. It’s true what they say about the city being an assault on the senses. The moment you walk off the plane you’re hit from every direction. First thing is the wall of heat. Thick and sticky. Then before you get used to that there’s the smell. Petrol, noodles and age. Hi all, Hope everyone had a good holiday. Ours continues. It’s nice not to have to go back to work. Had a great time in Halifax and Toronto with Mike’s family. Hi all, This is the first entry of our travel page. So here goes the first of many editions of our journal. After racing out the doors of our respective jobs Charlotte and I crammed as much of our one bedroom apartment as we could into a storage container. We then went out for a few final drinks with friends in Vancouver. Left all the errands we didn't get to with our good friend James (Cheers J.), put Elli the cat on a plane for Nova Scotia and followed a day later.
