After a very busy first five days of May, the 6th rolled round and we were on our way. Of to Scotland for our wedding!!! Three flights, twelve hours of waiting in airports and one lost jacket later (which we left at the first airport), we finally landed in Glasgow. This blog isn't about any recent trips that we've done, more about a trip that we're going to be doing - our wedding is fast approaching. It's fair to say that I've seen my fair share of cold weather this winter. Working for Westjet means that I get to visit many Canadian cities and in winter - they're cold. In Calgary a few weeks ago it was minus 52 with the wind chill and the poor baggage handlers were feeling the effects of frostbite, bbrrrrrrr. The drive up to Scotland was much quicker than usual. Probably due to the fact that we were no longer coming from the very South Coast. Alan's move to Leamington Spa has meant a much closer proximity to home. Which was great for us. It was great to see our Gran and Aunt Lesley when we got up. A trip home is good at any time of the year - but especially during the holiday season. The only down side was that I had to leave Mike at home as he was working over Christmas. I found the cheapest flight from Vancouver to London Gatwick which left on December 17th. With a few tweaks and trades with my work schedule I managed to get the time off and then found a fairly cheap deal to come back on January 9th. All booked, all set and away I go. With a week and a half off work, I decided to put the time to good use and jumped on a plane over to Honolulu, Hawaii. I hadn't stepped foot on Hawaiian soil since the last Harmony flight on April 9th. I certainly miss all the brilliant layovers that I had with all my friends at Harmony, so to go back over was like visiting an old friend. The sights, sounds and smells - all so familiar. Sin City. Gambling heaven or a good excuse to go shopping!!! That's exactly what it was for Sheri and myself. We first spoke about a trip to Vegas last March, so it only took us a year and half to actually go. With the Canadian dollar as strong as the American it was perfect timing. Unfortunately for me, my layover in Halifax was short. Mostly - just enough time to sleep, grab a coffee and get back to work. I was looking forward to flying to Halifax so I could meet up with my friends Jacqui and Brent who got married in July. As I had my drills that day for work, we weren't able to make it over. Summer is sadly drawing to an end. The leaves are starting to turn and fall. Days are getting shorter. Last week saw Charlotte doing red eye flights to London, Ontario - shame it wasn't London, England!!! Starting work at 1am and being smiley at the other end is hard work.
