We went SC and had a T1 which was on the 3rd floor. The room was very spacious and clean. The kitchen was complete and the whole room was tastefully decorated. The facilities are excellent and the pools outside enormous. We only used the indoor pool and the jacuzi which let me tell u is a must, it's super warm. The room itself was just right and we never had to switch on the heat, the kids loved their stay:) The bathroom too was perfect, and let me tell u that the shower is potent, and I had myself a good massage lol. Oh and I read from some reviews that the beds were not comfortable, well ours were just fine. Our room had a view to the road and although some ppl meantioned that it ... read more

We are planning on a trip to Fatima on Sunday and then I'll have some pictures to post from there. In the meantime here is a little info about this city.... Fatima became know in 1916 when Virgin Mary appeared to the 3 little shepherd children, Francisco, Jacinta and Lucia. In 1918 the then priest of Fatima asks that he be allowed to erect an alter where the apparitions took place. However Francisco dies in 1919, 15 days before the inauguration of the alter. In 1982 the actual cathedral is inaugurated with the visit of Pope John Paul II. Jacinta his sister dies on the 20th Feb. 1920 on the exact date that the Virgin had told her she would. Lucia died recently on the 13th Feb. 2005. Extra Info: 1st apparition - (May 13) 2nd ... read more

Well after having read most of the reviews I was a little aprehensive about this resort.... To start we were there for a little week-end break so I guess I never had much time to really look deeply into things :) The resort itself was very clean, both the outside and indoor pools. The slide was closed, not sure why? The plants around the pool looked lush and green. The room was pretty much what we were expecting, oh and it was clean and we had great views, even got to feed the seagulls bread:) Ok now the not so great parts; there were no toaster, kettle, no cleaning things not even a table towel which I think is normal for even the very basic self-catering apartments?! The staff(reception) were friendly and helpful, the rest of ... read more

Well this is starting to sound more like a sickness journal lol and I do apologize but I promise that as sson as Rafa is well u'll all be reading about places to visit in and around Portugal. Well Rafa had a fever all day yesterday again, so at Lunch time hubby decided it was time for another Docs visit. Again we were told it was the flu or some virus...yeah like ok pick one:(((. I was really pissed off with all this, as we all know a fever has a reason for being, so in the evening we took him to Hospital Garcia da Horta. Here after 3 Docs had examined him they reached my conclusion, and decide to run some tests on him. After a short wait we were told that the urine was ... read more

Well this seems to be one of those never ending sagas! Rafa had a horrid night again y'day, he sweated and had high fever again. In the morning we had him down at the doctors, who told us that as he had no cold or sore throut it was some sort of virus...jah well erm I wonder. The last time I had given him meds was at 3:30 in the early morning and he seemed ok till about 12:45 when his fever started raising again, but I must add that he looks way better today, so lets keep em fingers crossed that we have kicked the fever! Ok to top all this my car is being repaired again after having been in for the same thing just before our Serra da Estrela mini holiday:(( Oh leason ... read more

Well as I wont be travelling out of Portugal in the near future, I've decided to give u all some snipets about my days in and around Portugal, including some visits as well as pics of the places. Today was one of those calm days (erm calm that is...)when one has kids there is hardly a calm day. I took Rafa to school and had Nadine home with me. Decided that Rafa's room needed some adjusting and put up a scarf of his fav soccer club, SLB (Benfica for those that dont know). Also added another shelf to my wall as I have tons of books which I need to display..yes another hobbie of mine..READING:))) And now as both kids watch Noddy, I have got the meal going, I'll put up some local recipes soon:) ... read more

This is a perfect place to stay in if you want to get a good rest, yet be right in the middel of all the action. There are rooms with private baths or rooms without where the W.C. is just outside the corridor. All rooms have great big windows, some have a varanda, all have T.V (local only) and all have heating. The breakfast is all you can eat...coffee, tea, milk, hot chocolate, lovely bread, butter, sweet, cheese and ham. The ppl that own the B&B also have a restaurant on the same street and if you care to take meals there they offer a 3 euro discount. Visited Countries Map ... read more

The Hotel San Diego was very well situated, the food and service was excellent. The Hotel itself was very well centered and easy to get to almost everywhere. At this time of the year we found it very chilly and windy, but we heard from the locals that normally it is not so. There was an indoor heated pool and a happy hour which had ppl flocking and telling of their adventures. Went on many organised tours, which i honestly would have to look up to get the names:)... read more
