Well, we waited until after the New Year before we left Phnom Phen. We decided to take a bus to Kampot to see what it's like. It's a small town about 20 min off the southern coast which is famous for it's pepper. It was a five hour bus ride through bumpy dirt roads and we made it. We stayed at a nice place on the river for a couple of nights. The sunsets over the river were beautiful and there were about 20 little puppies running around from three different litters. They said I could take one home, but there was no room in my back pack so I had to leave them all there. On the second night we met a couple of retired men from Canada and they told us about a relaxing ... read more

It's been a very long time but... from Phi Phi we went to Phuket town where we spent two days checking out the city. There really wasn't much there, we did end up going to a Thai movie theater. There was only one movie that had english sub titles, so we had to go to that one. It was a pretty good movie, but they turn up the air con so high in the theater,I was shivering about 20 min into it. I felt like I was back home already!! From Phuket we went to Khao Lak, which is on the mainland, but still on the coast. From there we took a day diving trip to the Similin Islands where we got to dive with Manta Rays. They were so amazing, we saw about 6 and ... read more

We took a ferry from Ko Lanta to Koh Jum, where you have to jump from the ferry onto a long tail boat to get to the island. There is not much on the island except the basics. We got a little hut in the back of the lot, it was actually pretty nice for 300 baht, expect the electricity only ran from around 7pm to around 5am. Thats when the fan turned off and the room started to heat up. So there was definetly no sleeping in there. On our first day we rented bicycles and rode into town. Which is about 30 huts lined up down a street. We managed to find some fruit and water though. The we biked across the island to the north, which was about 8km. We saw a lot ... read more

So we left Koh Samui, destination Krabi. We woke up at 6:30 am to get picked up by a mini bus which took us to the ferry terminal. Next we got on a 2.5 hour ferry ride across to Suratthani. A bus picked us up there to take us to another bus stop about an hour away. We got to wait there for a while until another bus picked us up to take us the 3 hours to Krabi. When we got there we decided that we wanted to go to an island right away. So we bought tickets for the boat leaving to Koh Lanta. It was leaving in about five min so we had to run all the way down to the pier. We caught the boat with about a minute to spare. But ... read more

Well, it’s been a while since our last entry. That’s because we really haven’t done too much. After Koh Samui we went to Koh Phangan. On Jan 3rd we went to a Full Moon party. It was pretty cool. The boat there was a fun experience. It was low tide, so we all had to wade out to the boat. Then for the 40 min ride we all got sprayed until we were soaked. And then when we got dropped off we all had to jump out the side and wade into shore. Other than that the ride was beautiful, it was a clear sky, and of course a full moon. The party is pretty much a huge rave on the beach. So it was a bit much for me, I don’t really like techno and ... read more

So happy 2007 everyone!!! We had a really nice dinner last night at our resort. They also had some traditional Thai dancing shows and fire works. We just took it easy and relaxed at our resort for the night. At about 11:00 we went down to the beach and watched all the fireworks shows. We are right in the middle of a beach thats about 3km long. So on both sides of us there were huge fireworks shows. They also have these mini hot air balloons which they light up and they look like fire balls floating through the sky. At one point we counted over 130 at one time. They were really beautiful. This morning we hired a taxi for the day to take us all around the island. Our first stop was at the ... read more

I hope that everyone is enjoying their holidays! We definetly are, it's New Years Eve today, so we are just getting ready for our party. But we do have some stories to tell about the Christmas and the last few days first. Our Christmas dinner was really fun. We got a shot of thai whiskey to start it off, a bit gross. But then they had a big roast dinner which included a lot of thai food as well as roast beef, chicken and fish. And to accompany our meal was a nice lady-boy show. It was really interesting, it was also really hard to believe that some of them were guys. They take a lot of hormone pills so they grow to look like a woman more naturally than surgery. It's quite a different culture ... read more
