Following our epic time in Sicily with the girls, Laura and I split off for a few days and headed to Naples - the REAL Italy. This city is raw. I mean there are families that live in appartments 6 stoires up and lower a bucket down to collect fresh produce every morning. We had an amazing time staying with my mom's friends Pam and Mike. It was so nice to be in a home again and Pam is an amazing cook - even the 3 days of rain were bearable when we came home to her incredible meals. Meeting back up with the Charlotte and Kayla in Rome, we spent numerous days seeing the sights and many nights meeting locals, attending Neckversaries, meeting the legendary traveler who got caught steeling a boat (great story, ask ... read more

Yay! Megan and I actually were able to meet up with our friends from PG!!! Who would have thought that we would be lucky enough to meet up with Charlotte and Kaela in Italy. Haha we actually had a bit of a situation getting from France to Italy though, we missed our scheduled train. Now for those of you who have travelled by train around Europe you would think no big deal, just catch the next train. Well that's what we thought too. But it turns out that the next train, which we hopped, on was actually full - yes I repeat full! So we were on this train with invalid tickets trying to dodge the obvious issue that we should not be on the train. Fortunately for us, even after being stopped by the Polize ... read more

Okay, so it's my turn to write again. Laura and I spent most of the last 2 weeks apart. She left me in Freiburg (Germany) to start her French lessons in Annecy France. I quickly made friends with a couple guys from Vancouver and spent the next few days biking around the city and exploring. It was kind of refreshing to hang out with Canadian boys again, funny that I missed the dirty jokes and gross humour. From Freiburg I spent a day biking through the Black Forest with a really cool girl from Australia and, or course, at alot of Black Forest Cake. Next I moved on Zurich, Switzerland to stay with my friend Raffa. Zurich is a beautiful city but spending 9 euros (about 16 dollars) on a small starbucks coffee did not quite ... read more

Well, where to begin... Germany honestly has been phenomenal. Every day there has been something new and different. Our trip began in Frankfurt, where we were welcome by Dirk and Philip (Megan’s friends whom she met in NZ). We had a great time visiting the old city (extremely small area as much of Frankfurt was bombed in WWII), drinking apple wine and going to a night club where we listened to a performance with the German Idol as the headliner. After a few days there we headed to Munich, which involved driving 220km/hr on the autobahn - I swear I thought I saw my life flash before my eyes on more than one occasion. Anyways, finally we were in Munich and you know what that means - OKTOBERFEST!!!!! Yup, we were fortunate enough to get tickets ... read more

Back to London - After forcing ourselves to leave the little surf town, we headed back to London for a few days. We ended up catching the Thames River Festival - a huge event with artisan booths, food from around the world, and performers. I finally got to go on the London Eye too! Kurt, our new Canadian friend, agreed to go on it with me (so I wouldn't be 'that girl' riding alone) and he even managed to find the one little tim hortons store in all of Europe and brought Laur and I Timmies Coffees! Madrid, Spain - We arrived in Madrid and spent the first 2 nights in luxury - a hotel room! We ended up spending a few days attending a conference (long story) and met up with a friend of a ... read more

Well were to begin. After our outing to Bath and Stone Henge, we had to prepare ourselves for Europe’s largest street festival. The Notting Hill Carnival was unreal! The initial Caribbean parade was wicked; thousands of brightly colored costumes dancing along the street and on various different floats. After watching and jumping in for a bit of dancing, we made our way to dance up on the DJ’s booth. Haha, yup somehow Lex got tickets to dance up on stage in front of at least a thousand people with one of the main DJ’s at the festive - nuts! Once we had partied ourselves out, we decided to explore the Cornwall area (Southwest edge of England). It turns out the ‘carnival’ followed us to Newquay too. While enjoying a night out, Megs found herself lecturing Smurfs ... read more

This past week we spent bumming around Edinburgh in Scotland. It was a very last minute decision to head there from Newcastle (us? last minute travellers? no! ha) and, when we decided the night before to book a bus there, we soon realized that there was NO accomodation in the city. Yup, we accidently booked our trip for the middle of the Edinburgh Fringe Festival. So, this drove us to our first actual encounter with Couchsurfing.com. Yup, we stayed with strangers on their couch (sorry dad!). It actually worked out perfect. The boys we stayed with were great and showed us around the city. They even had a spare room for Laura and I to share! We went to a different show everyday. We saw comedy, plays and dancing. They were all spectacular but one....which presented ... read more

Today we are wrapping up our trip in Newcastle-Upon-Tyne in northern England! It was quite the bus ride from London to here (8 hours), but extremely scenic. Lex's buddy Mitch welcomed us with open arms. Haha he also attempted to prepare us for the 'circus'. The town of Newcastle is home to the summer weekend 'circus' -- a.k.a every single stag and stagette party for the United Kingdom. Truly, we saw and partied with 30 to 40 different groups who were all dressed up in ridiculous costumes. Everything from pirates, playboys, jail bait, to condom suit; you name it and we would have seen the costume ;) The city is wicked for partying -- they honestly have a place called 'the bar mall'. Literally, it's an indoor mall with only bars and clubs in it. Needless ... read more

So week two is over and we're still in London. We just can't get enough. We spent the day at Tate Modern looking at Picasso paintings and Andy Warhol's (there were others but these were our fave's). While Laur and I spend hours slowly taking it all in, Lex ran the tate modern marathon and was outa there in 15mins haha. This past weekend we went out with a bunch of Canadian & Kiwi Rugby Players!! Turns out some of the rugby players went to UNBC before my time, and a few others went to Massey Uni in Palmerston North NZ while I was there too! very random. Good times. We woke up on Sunday and went to Church. This was no ordinary church though, this church was full of crazy Aussies, South Africans and Brits ... read more
