Hello, Well on our way to Krakow we decided to go to Vysoke Tatry, the mountainous area in northern Slovakia. We booked a bungalow at Eurocamp, something we weren,t overly happy with, our preconceptions of Eurocamp weren,t very positive, but it was the cheapest deal in the area by a long shot. On arrival we were met with sights of men wearing the shortest shorts you can imagine playing noisy games of football and groups of screeching school kids. Hmmm, not the serene environment we had envisaged for our stay in the mountains. Proceeding to the reception area we were [View Full Entry]

Hello everyone, Well since I last left a blog we have been to Eger (HUngary), Kosice (Slovakia), staying a night in Miskolc (HUngary) between the two, and Vysoke Tatrz (Slovakia(. To let you know this keyboard is a nightmare, what a suprise, and for some unknown reason will only let me do brackets facing in one direction. Great stuff. So anyway, since I last wrote we have left our original path for one less well known, and with this has come increasing difficulties with language, some interesting situations at restaurants (when the dishes are named in Slovakian/Hungarian and none of [View Full Entry]

Hello again! Well, after perhaps the longest train ride on earth, we arrived at the bright lights of Budapest at 5am Thursday morning (though at this time they weren,t very bright at all). Exhausted after another interruption filled nights sleep, but excited to be somewhere new, we got a taxi to the door of our hostel ready to crash out on our pre-booked beds. UNFORTUNATELY when we got there, we buzzed the buzzer and an old bloke came and told us the hostel had been shut for 6 months ... ahhh! Two hours and a lot of trekking later we [View Full Entry]

Hello again everyone, Really nice to get loads of messages and emails from you all, keep um coming. Well since my last blog we have been in 3 different countries - though one, serbia, was just on the train. We left Istanbul at 10pm on monday and took the night train to Plovdiv. Wow. For those who have never been on one before, it is quite an experience. Very different indeed to british trains. The windows are all open so you can stick your head and and watch the countryside go (usually very slowly) by. The combination of this, our [View Full Entry]

Hello everyone! Sorry I haven't written a blog for a while, but here you go I'm doing you a couple at once. Everythings been quite hectic, after we went to Utila about half the old guys left and we have had some new arrivals: Sarah, Laura, Chris, the irish girls - Deirdra and Elaine, plus Jill and Gaelyn who came a while ago (don't know if I mentioned them). They are all really nice, though we do miss the old gang loads. Sarah and Laura are also in our house, Amy sadly went back home, but it was for the best, [View Full Entry]

Hello everyone, Last weekend we went to the Lage de Yojoa again, as a nice relaxing first weekend for the other volunteers and as we really needed to chill out. Every weekend we think, yeh we'll really relax this weekend, but then we never seem to. Even the weekend on a caribbean island renowned for its slow pace of life was hectic. We arrived on Friday, the journey being nice and short, only 3 hours. We had set off in the morning as building was cancelled due to the rain we had had on thursday making the ground to damp. So [View Full Entry]

Hello all! Hope everyone is still well. I am missing you all muchly. Luckily for me we went to the caribbean this weekend, which took my mind of it a little (to say the least). We left on Thursday after work, and travelled for most the afternoon - luckily we slept all the way. We arrived in La Ceiba at around 8 and after checking out a really dodgy looking dorm we decided to push the boat out a little. The dorm we looked at was up a ladder which was incredibly scary and the shower was more of a space [View Full Entry]

At the mo, I am teaching mon-wed, building thurs & fri, and also as we finish these at 12 each day we have been painting a nursery in the afternoons - I know I am a saint. But really the nursery was shocking, its for kids with no dads whose mothers work, and there is literally nothing there. The walls were filthy and in the bedroom area there was one cot and a few blankets on the floor. So with the money that Amy & Peter had raised before they came out here we've been painting it and are hoping to [View Full Entry]

Hey all, Hope your all well. Well, this weekend was fantastic, we went to Copan Ruinas, which is very near the Guatemala border in the west. It took about 6 hours to get there, which was a mission, but we entertained ourselves and slept. To be honest that was pretty good considering the public transport in Honduras is very tempermental; it just turns up when it wants to. So we set off friday at 8, which was nice - a lie in in comparison to normal weekdays (we get up at 6am!!! - I know what a shocker). Then we travelled, [View Full Entry]
