Hey Penny + Daz... Penny, you'll be glad to know you weren't the only one who strugled to walk following the run. I came good wendesday. Walked like those little fairy penguins mon and tues. Michelle still cant squat and we've sent Andy off for a bone scan (querying stress # in foot). Looking forward to seeing the photos you took. Hope the rest of Oz treated you well. Good luck with starting the new job. Thanks again support crew :-)

Accommodation - From: South Western Bolivia
I'm not sure I would have fancied the five star accommodation in Bolivia but the Salt Hotel must have been amazing. Were you tempted to scrape bits off the wall to add to your chips? Incidentally Penny, after your diagnosis at xmas, Ashley's 'skin problem' has finally cleared after THREE tubes of cream. I realised this must have been playing on your mind over the last three months, sorry for not mentioning it earlier. You can relax and enjoy the rest of your travels now. Darryl, your likkle sis must be so lonely without you, she's coming all the way to sunny Npton to stay with her superior, but clearly less well travelled, and only slightly older, sibling very soon, woo hoo. Just running out to buy an air bed xx

Great! Extra pictures! ;) Place looks very astonishing and definitely worth a visit! What is this with these 'mock-pictures' and the Salar de Uyuni? I saw more people who took pictures like that there .. Is it a 'tradition' to do that there?

Anyhow, even more funny news, Neets managed to decorate Mike's swish BMW beige leather seats with "red wine/vomit/chunky bits"...big man not happy! Also had a scolding from Neets mum (!) for "not looking after her daughter"...big man not happy!:-)

Hi there! It's Nienke, the Dutch girl you gave your Ecuador LP to! Good to read you had a nice time walking up to Machu Picchu, despite the weather. I'm sorry I didn't leave you a message sooner, but there were some health problems at home (in Holland). Everything is okay now. I'm in Pisco at the moment, doing the volunteer work I wanted to do (with the earthquake), so that's nice. My blog is www.nienkedegraeff.web-log.nl (you can leave an reaction by clicking on the button "reacties" under every message) and my photosite is http://good-times.webshots.com/album/562406064xQhcGq . Have a nice trip, and you can expect your LP somewhere between May and July! Nienke

Anyway just blogging to say happy anniversary for yesterday. Hope you did something special and ate something more appropriate than guinea pig. See you soon and can't wait to see photos although Daz you are only allowed a 10min slot per lunch time so that we can continue to talk about girlie matters the other 50mins. Hi Darryl & Penny, We have been following your fantastic holiday on the web and are all extremely jealous at the surgery. We can't wait for the stories and pictures when you get back Penny. I hate to interrupt your incredible journey with a work question but your 2 Partners back here in the 'sunny? south' are wondering if you could let us know which 6 sessions you are going to work, so that we can plan your surgeries (I am sorry but you will have to return some time!!!!!!!) We have a long list of patients all dying (not literally!) to meet you. Regards Viv and all at Heyward Road

where are your suitcases? - From: Peru: Dunes and Canyons
Hi its great hearing all your news, I know you were planning to travel light, but I cant understand how you can go away for 3 months with 2 backpacks between you, whilst Jane C had a 23kg case, large cabin holdall [weighing at least another 15kg] plus large handbag when we returned from our 3 night break to Marrakesh this week. It appears Penny is more restrained with her shopping than Jane. Hope Portsmouth wont be too tame when you get back.

Dear Penny Please can you tell me which is the guinea pig and which is darryl. Having some problem telling them apart! Wow it sounds as though you are having a fantastic time! We do love reading your blogs and reminiscing fondly about the good ol' days when we were able to travel too..... Sophie Rose Sharma is taking up most of our time at present but we are loving every minute - although the minutes between three and five a.m. sometimes seem longer than the others! She is gorgeous and getting bigger every day. No other news really but looking forward to continuing to read about your exploits and toasting your safe return when you get home (drinking wine again is SO nice!). Sxxx

Hi guys -thanks for the card- loved the mating tortoises- the facial expression very reminiscent of the night I burst in on gareth in a similarly comprimising position with some slapper he'd bought back from the Regal palace- not a pretty sight! How are you going to top this holiday when you come back?

George and Adam
- From: Ecuador
All sounds as wonderful as ever. Adam and I are feeling very sympathetic towards your weary legs at the moment. We have just returned from a weekend up in Snowdonia. I arranged the place to stay ( a v pretty Landmark Trust cottage in the middle of no-where.) and Adam decided on the walk, stupid of me really as he picked the hardest walk in our guidebook - the Snowdon Horseshoe. The guide said it would take 4.5 hours and it was fairly difficult. The reality was that it took 7.5 hours (!) and involved scrambling up near vertical rock edges, climbing along ridges and slipping our way down scree slopes. It's now Sunday night - we're arrived home and it's painful to walk up and down stairs (worse than post marathon!). I like the way you've justified the buying of hat and gloves for the walking Pen, but not sure that earrings and a tablecloth will be much use! Enjoy Lima, see the changing of the guards if you get the chance (straight from the institute of funny walks). In Cusco the best place for breakfast used to be La Tertulia, off the Northern corner of Plaza de Armas. Keep coming with the blogs, Adam and George x

Following this trip is just so amazing, what an experience! I am green with envy but also in awe of how you put this all together. Look forward to next installment!

Hammocks - From: Belize- beaches, diving and jungle
I just wondered if there was a name for obsessive, compulsive hammock disorder? Darryl seems to have spent most of his life, discussing the suitability of, describing the plus points of, designing the best place for, constructing, laying on, or thinking of laying on hammocks. Has anyone else noticed this behaviour, are there other hammock obsessives, is there an appropriate society for hammock obsessives, where Daz could meet like minded people? Without having to travel all the way to Belize??

missing you! - From: Back in Guat
Really good to hear from you and to see your splendid photos. You must be skilled at getting someone to capture you together at each venue (or have you taken a photographer with you). David Attenborough is just doing his final series; ? you next. Great enviable locations - I suspect you need to be young in physique as well as at heart to do what you are doing. Phyl & I have just had 2 weeks in the Carribean (St Lucia) - not quite so demanding, but got in some golf and daily swimming, all sabotaged by the 'all-inclusive' hotel where we stayed. Bit of a shock getting back to UK climate - so make the most of it whilst it lasts, Take Care Phyl & Ken

Greetings from the Great White North - From: Back in Guat
Ah the adventure continues! Lucky. Well we finished off our travels in Caye Caulker which was much more touristy than Hopkins of course but still super chilled out. We lazed away our last 4 days reading books in hammocks, swimming & snorkelling. And fortunately we were still able to keep our 9pm bedtime hour :) We now of course have returned home and are catching the tail end of the coldest 2 weeks we have seen all winter. -37 C yuck. We flew Air Canada from Edmonton to Yellowknife and they said it was the first time in 2 weeks they were able to land in Yellowknife because they are unable to fly their jet in temps past -40 C! Oh the joys of living in the north. Feel free to come visit anytime! It was great meeting you guys we will follow your blog avidly envying every word. Hope the zombie book has prepared you for the upcoming uprising if we hear anything we will be in contact. Take care Christine & Jason PS what was the name of that book you were reading Darryl? Oh and joy it is -42 C with a wind-chill of -48 C weren't we lucky the plane was able to land on Saturday?!
