April 13th 2012

Date of Travel: April 4-6, 2012 For quite sometime, Angkor Wat has been in my bucket list. Angkor is one of the most important archaeological sites in South-East Asia. Stretching over some 400 km2, including forested area, Angkor Archaeological Park contains the magnificent remains of the different capitals of the Khmer Empire, from the 9th to the 15th century. They include the famous Temple of Angkor Wat, Angkor Thom, the Bayon Temple and the Roulos Group (Preah Ko, Bayon, and Lolei Temples) with its countless sculptural decorations. The Roulos Group are temples dating from the late 9th century, and therefore preceed Angkor Wat by two and a half centuries. I have promised myself that for 2012 my personal travels would all be overseas, I booked flights from Manila to Siem Reap en route Saigon. A bit ... read more

As a beach lover, I always look for "not-so-commercialized" beaches so I'd be able to enjoy the beach freely---it's pristine waters, white and powdery sand, and listen to the calming tides while reading a book. Calaguas is definitely a must-visit paradise. Be warned though that it does not have any resorts so meaning, one has to prepare for a truly one-of-a-kind outdoor adventure. They only have 2 comfort rooms, one common bath area and one "open-pantry". But given my adventurous personality, I don't have any qualms with such limited amenities. After all, the beach is spectacular. For package tours, you may contact Melvic Brinas at these numbers: 09092944444 09065144444 09222472111. When my group went to Calaguas, they only charged us 3,500 per person inclusive of transpo from Manila to Calaguas (vice versa), food and accommodation. However, ... read more

...a short yet fun-filled trip to Brunei and Kota Kinabalu. We have learned a lesson (the hard way) when we traveled to Brunei with no hotel accommodation. We thought that it would just be easy for us to book a hotel upon arrival ignoring the fact that it was the start of Ramadan. We've waited for several minutes in the airport calling possible hotels only to be informed that all rooms are taken. Add to our experience, the airport ran out of cabs...we have to wait for 15 minutes. While waiting, we met 3 kind-hearted Filipinos who invited us to stay for a night at their place. (More to come...)... read more

This is just my personal experience during my trip to Misibis Resort in Legazpi last April 14-16, 2010 when I facilitated an incentive trip for our Resellers (our group is composed of 88 pax, mostly business owners). Since I am handling the marketing and communications group of our company, I was tasked to ensure that all the needed preparations are well taken cared of. This means helping the team (2 product managers) plan the entire trip from check-in to check-out including room assignments, F&B arrangements, turndown gifts and activities for each attendee. For such a big group, preparations are indeed tedious. And since most of our guests have attended similar incentive trips sponsored by other vendors in our industry, we need to be critical and meticulous with our preparations. Gifts and other items On April 13, ... read more
