We've been back home for a long time now (5 months tomorrow!), a lovely city break was just what we needed, so we decided to continue our travelling journey with a blog... Its cold, make that freezing, literally, but we are having a great time all the same. With remanants of snow, a misty mystical atmosphere and air that's so bitter you can see your breath for a looong time, Prague has a real magical feel to it. Today is our first main day as we arrived late last night. Being the hardened travellers that we are - been round the world and all that - we thought we had to 'do it' properly, so instead of opting for a nice safe taxi to our hotel after leaving the airport 10pm local time, we decided to ... read more

Ok so we thought we would bore you with one final blog. As its a year to the day that our travelling adventure began, and exactly 3 weeks that we have been home, we thought we would share some of our reflections. It just didn't seem right to end our travels still having a ball on the Perhentians as that wasn't the end. We both feel that we've got one more trip in us but for now we're concentrating on settling back into working life! (boring) So we left you back on the perfect Perhentians where we spent another couple of days just sunning and soaking up the oh so chilled atmosphere, before heading to the hustle and bustle of Kuala Lumpar. I was expecting big exciting things from KL as it's the city that shares ... read more

So the day has finally arrived where we had to leave paradise... the beautifully peaceful, practically deserted, stunning Perhentian Islands. We arrived at the Perhentians after a pretty hellish 2 days of travel where flights were cancelled, buses were missed, taxis drove us round in circles, toes were stubbed (that was just me but - ouch!) hotels were full or overly priced or too grotty and airport floors were too hard and cold to sleep on. The bad luck ended though as we raced to Kuala Besut just in time to catch the last boat of the day... and with it we managed to bump into the second half of our group of buddies who we hadn't seen for a long few days. However it wasn't all smooth from here. Having learned apparently no lessons of ... read more

So Thailand... we arrived there feeling absolutely horrendous as our flu continued and we had to do a huge amount of travelling from Sapa up in the hill of Vietnam to Bangkok. To get there we had to catch a bus, an overnight sleeper train, a taxi, another taxi, a flight and then another taxi. About 30 odd hours later we arrived. Unfortunately for us we pretty much spent a week in bed dosed up with antibiotics and lots of rest. 1 week later our friends arrived! Laura, Jemma, Steph, Phil, Kat and John arrived to our pretty plush hotel for lots of catching up, lots of shopping, lots of buckets (literally a bucket of cocktail - predominantly Samsong, an alrightish Thai whisky with Red Bull and Coke) and lots of drunken fun out in the ... read more

The Loydall's should get that one! So we left lovely Hoi An and caught a flight from Danang to Hanoi, we had to book Business class as all the economy seats had been booked out. It was great, first class lounge, free food and drink. A private bus to take you to and from the aircraft and loads of seat room! And probably the best bit was having your bags waiting for you as you arrived at the airport. Fantastic!! We only had a day and night in Hanoi before heading off to Halong bay so we made the most of it by exploring the old quarter. Hanoi is stupidly chaotic and although its a very interesting place to go and see I wasn't overly impressed, everything is more expensive, nobody really gives you the ... read more

So after the depressing and downbeat experience in Phnom Penh, we left Cambodia with heads full of complicated thoughts by bus heading to Ho Chi Minh City or Saigon to the locals. The journey was okay, we opted for the classy top of the range 'Mekong Express' and crossed the border into Vietnam without any problems. However, as soon as we stepped off the bus we were taken for a ride as we got ripped off by a taxi tout with a dodgey meter and even worse sense of direction! Oh well, another important lesson learned. Our hotel (Lac Vien) was lovely though and right in the heart of the action so it wasn't all doom and gloom. Saigon was fantastic. We had a really refreshing couple of days and even though it had all ... read more

It has been a pretty tough couple of days. We arrived in Phnom Penh on Wednesday at lunchtime after an interesting bus journey with some motor bikes and chickens - pretty regular customers on public transport in Cambodia. Before the bus door had even opened we had atleast 20 guys through the door shouting 'tuk tuk', 'tuk tuk'! After managing to scramble through the jungle of arms, hands, chickens, motorbikes, backpacks, fellow travellers and local passengers, we managed to find a Cambglish speaker who could get us to our hotel. It turned out our driver spoke very good English so we were talked into hiring him to be our driver for the following day. The afternoon was spent shopping til we were dropping (or dripping with sweat - nice!) at the fantastic Russian Market that was ... read more

Sorry about the uninteresting title but its too hot to think of anything clever! So we boarded our Jetstar plane bound for Cambodia and were slightly surprised when we realised there was only 30 passengers aboard, very surreal, if you ever fly on an airbus with only 30 passengers you will be in for a bit of a bumpy ride as there's no weight to the plane! I was gripping the arm rests several times! (I think I left indentations!) Anyway after arrival at our very swanky hotel (15 pound a night) we were told our room wasn't yet availalbe so we hired a tuk tuk (Basically a moped towing a carriage) with our driver for the day named Leang, an extremely smiley local. You can hire a driver and a tuk tuk for 8 hours ... read more

Apologies in advance for this being such a lengthy entry! We left you in Hervey Bay in the rain and since then we have had some fantastic adventures that we can't wait to tell you about so here goes... Fraser Island was a complete and utter washout! After umming and ahhring for hours over which trip to take (the 3 day drive yourself safari versus the guided coach day trip) we checked the weather forecast and saw the torrential downpours continuing for the week, so opted for the safe (expensive) option of a nice easy guided coach trip. Thank goodness we did. The rain was horrendous and being stuck in a tent with group of party crazy 18 year-olds would not have been fun. Fraser is the largest island in the world that is completely ... read more

Ok so it's been a while and we've travelled a fair bit, Kerrie has warned me not to miss anything out as apparently I usually condense my blogs into a quick paragraph so I'm going to give it a proper go!! We left stunning Tasmania behind and boarded the ferry expecting a nice peaceful journey back to the mainland, however the 3 metre swells made for an interesting journey. Kerrie went rather green along with most of the other passengers! But it was great to walk like a drunk whilst being completley sober! Very funny.... After arriving back in Melbourne we drove as far as Albury/Wodonga on the Victoria/NSW border on our way to Canberra. This was a pretty uneventful stay but the town itself was quite nice. Next, the capital city (Not that you'd ... read more
