Now then matey!! still been reading your journal with great interest. I never realised the extent or heights of what the trip would involve. But I am still sso impressed with you both for attempting such feats. Will look forward to seeing pics and hearing more stories when u come back. My parents are away at the moment so i have the house to myself. Unfortun ately they're back on the 1st so a night round mine maybe out of the question. Either way we'll think of something. And you wouldnt believe the bad months i've had, but i'll bore you with that when you get back. You will laugh though actually at my mis-fortune!! I know what your like. Looking forward to seeing you mate and buying you a pint. Ring me when you get back and get chance Rob

Thank You
I love you too. You know I´d go to the ends of the earth with you, just for the sheer joy of experiencing it with you. And no, I don´t think you´re crazy, but if you are then I can´t see it because I´m crazy too. Which mountain´s next?

Those photos are good and it proves you still exist. Fancy unclipping yourself at the top Martin. I know the last thing you're thinking of is home, but I wonder if you saw a vision of me at the bottom of that mountain shouting "get down here now, you'll fall!) Just so pleased you doing all the good things now. I suppose when you go up Snowdownia again you'll feel like you've just popped upstairs. Tell Stephanie she too is doing great ( well done Steph, you show these men!) Take care and fasten your laces up Martin! Love Mum and Dad xx

passing you by
Great to hear you are " taking it easy." Sounds like you are finding more of the fun side of it. Family and friends are asking about you and asked me to say hiya to you. They all think you are mad but doing the right thing and say the usual things like " don't blame them both, wish I had done it ( or could do it) " Strange how we all say things like that. Anyway, take care , you are doing well to put up each other ( "keep up " I mean..) Love Mum, Dad,and Anita and Cameron, the squirrels, the finches, the doves, the pigeons, oh and not forgetting the sparrows, all waiting in the garden ( isn't that tweet) x

summit amazing
Well Martin, as you know, I love the mountains. I would be sat there with you forever as well. As for the Llamas nearly dead, I would have punched the bloke dumping them! Pleased I wasn't with you. The locals really are trying to take advantage of you, glad you chose not to sleep with the flies. As for your skiing trip, I moved your snow board the other day because I kept banging my foot on it when I passed you bed, and so I will be quite happy to post it to you. ( Dad laughed when I told him I had moved your "skate board". ) I knew what I meant. Sorry to hear Stephanie had her bag stolen...rotten buggars. Shame about the camera as well, but at least you can take some photos still. We enjoy reading your blogs even though we worry about about some of the things happening. As long as you can tell us about them afterwards it's ok. Take care, love from us both. xx

This has obviously been a tough time for you both. Frightening to read about it and hard to even imagine what it's like. It's one of those things when you " have to be there to appreciate it" ( or regret it) but hearing it all from you both will be enough thanks. Fancy hitting that cow with your trekking pole! You could have " moooved" over and let him in the tent. ( Sorry.. could not resist that bit) Get your toe seen to Martin, I know what your like and I think it's something you need to hang on to right now. Hope you find somewhere for a good meal soon and a good rest. You might feel weak physically but you are both proving to be strong mentally. Come on down from that mountain and get a bath! Take good care both of you. xx

another hole in the wall
Hope I don't see two comments on this subject written on here. Computer won't make its mind up, sent or not! (Never mind, told I repeat myself anyway..) Martin, I know I said get the camera clicking but it best just to run sometimes and sod the pictures. Poor Stephanie, hope you gave her a cup of coco tea ( any excuse) Glad you met someone who speaks English, even though he came out with a quote that put you on edge ( when you feel like that you could always try coco tea, it's good stuff for all ailments in case you didn't know...) By the sounds of it you will be coming home looking like you just been the star in the film Castaway, and if Stephanie looses any weight I will think she's not with you as she won't be visible! Anita sends her love and she is glad she's not with you both. Take care and don't trip over you hair when it gets tangled around your feet! Bye for now love from Mum and Dad x

wot no guinea pigs?
Hi Mart and Steph, good to read of your adventures while sipping a coffee here in the study. Your fish is well, but obviously missing you both, he has taken to swimming around the tank in the opposite direction, he also looks a little depressed. Tales of daring do from far away places always inspire those of us whose lives are in a different direction; you look upon awesome vistas while eating exotic foods among a babble of Spanish speaking travellers and nomads, i have just received the gas bill. Sights and sounds to tingle the imagination are perhaps what we hope to experience on journeys, it certainly seems like that is happening to you and Steph at the moment. Glad to hear that my Spanish tapes have proved to be absolutely useless. Your tactic of talking clearly and loudly, then repeating yourself until the offending person goes away has to be admired. Who needs negotiation when calm English resolve among a hostile environment will do the trick. If this subtle approach falters, perhaps the next step will be to make a cup of tea and offer them a biscuit. It worked in India for three hundred years. A little disappointed that no fluffy rodents have been on the menu as yet. I have heard that guinea pig kebabs are all the rage at the moment, keep us informed of progress. Signing off now, Soona has vomited on the rug and the washing machine has finished vibrating itself to pieces. You are better off in the Andes. Ian

The former Bolivian resident on Coca Tea
(Hopefully, Martin, none of your mates work for Australian Customs) If you want to take coca tea (helps with altitude sickness, headaches, stomach upsets, homesickness, pimples, any ailment you can think of) home, you can run into some troubles,a s it is made fromt eh leaves of the coca plant, from which cocaine is derived. So, here's what you do: 1) write a letter to your mum 2) go to the post office, buy an envelope (they're sold singly in that part of the world) 3) insert coca leaf tea bags 4) post it to your mum, with no return address. That way mum's happy, and she's got coca. I did this lots of times when living in Bolivia, no problems.

Hello you two.
I have just read about the chicken run. Sounds as though you haven't changed Martin when it comes to being stubborn! Glad you kept your seats on the bus...who do you take after..? You will probably tell me you DON'T speak English when you arrive home and I ask you to do something! Just great to hear you are both ok. Stephanie didn't go to India so it's even more of an adventure but hope she is enjoying being with you 24 hours a day under such pressure ( and joy). Take care. Love Mum and Dad x
