Horn of Plenty
The meal looks divine - I definitely hope to emulate it one day!! The Horn of Plenty reminds me of my darling first-born as I had her twenty first birthday cake decorated with one - all of thirty years ago!! That statement makes me agree with yours that birthdays come around quicker these days!! Keep on having a great time. M xx

lambs
Did anyone notice what appeared to be holes in the frieze of the lambs? Could the frieze have been where either animal or human sarifices occurred?

awe-full
This is incredibly beautiful. Thanks so much for the pictures! Not something I expected on a sleepy Sunday morning. I love the marble patterns which aren't usually featured in photos and I loved the heavenly view of the floating flower lights from above. It reminds me of a lily pool, looking down at the fish swimming below. Many thanks for keeping me on your list!

Finally getting to your blog. So glad I did!
I so happy to live vicariously via your actualized wanderlust. Now I am going to share it with a friend who, at 80, is setting off in an RV fro a tour across America with his partner. Maybe he will blog too. Lots of love (and a little envy) from -- Walter

Hi Martha, I love the part of Turkish breakfast, because that is same as the Persian breakfast. In the hot weather, that is very Delicious. Bon appetite.

Covering the knees
Hi Martha It seems you could rescue from Not-A-Guide man. I was heard that the women should cover their hair but covering the men's knee was interesting . Actually I want to say; we have turquoise in Iran. Thanks Martha, and where is the next visit? Have great time. Cheers Afshin

Thanks for giving me a very pleasant flashback experience Martha and link to my last visit there in about 1982/83. I would have bought a new carpet to replace the one my son recenly threw away that I bought there then. I do love your story about Phil buying the fez - it's so not Phil!!

How exciting! Wonderful pictures! At present I'm reading a biographical novel about the excavation of ancient Troy by the Schleiman's in the 19th century. And there you are in Istambul! Hope to hear more from you!

Thanks for the ride!
I have three panels on my iPod weather app: Philadelphia (where we live), Ocean City NJ (where we do what they like to call surfing here), and Coffs Harbour. For a while they looked pretty similar (on the thermometer, anyway) but just in the last few weeks the temperatures have begun to differentiate as Coffs warms and we light our woodstove to ward off the evening frost. When we need to be cheered up we close our eyes and hear the butcherbirds whistling, the bowerbirds rattling, and the wild screams of the yellow-tailed black cockatoos. Wish we were back in Oz, too!
