15th Dec - Well when we left the internet cafe after last updating this thing the rain had stopped after over 2 days of tropical downpour. The kind of rain that would solve Brisbanes water shortages in an afternoon. Don~t know what we did for the rest of that day but next day we woke up to a beautiful day. Finally we were going to see Ilha Grande the way it should be. Went off on a tour boat around the island, stopping at a few beaches, in and out of the water all day. Day 5, Tues 11th Dec: Went down to meet Fergals Brazilian friend, Paola, that we met at Conors 30th birthday and who happened to be going back to Rio for her xmas holidays. Spent the afternoon on the beach. Locals had a good laugh at the 2 whitest people they have ever seen. Still at least I wasn´t wearing budgie smuggling speedos like them. One thing you´ll notice on Brazilian beaches is it doesn´t matter what shape you are you wear speedos if you´re a man and the smallest thong bikini if you´re a woman. Body shape makes no difference. Lets get this show on the road. Day 1, Fri 7th Dec: I have the flu so we just checked into the hotel Atlantico Copacabana a few blocks from Copacabana beach. Decent clean rooms and good breakfast. I´m sure we´ll be staying in alot worse over the next few months. Didn´t do a hell of alot, just went for a walk down Copacabana beach. Went out for a bite to eat. Don´t know if it was standard Brazilian fare but everything tasted like it was deep fried in the same pan. Hopefully we get some better meals over the next while [View Full Entry]
