We had one weekend this summer where we didn't have any organization-sponsored activities planned. Most of our activities were canceled because of the weather, but this was technically our "free weekend". I had originally planned to go to Thailand, but didn't go for a few reasons. I didn't want to go to Bangkok because I'm already living in a huge city I'm not done exploring. I thought that Ko Samui flight times were inconvenient, so I didn't want to spend the whole weekend flying. And lastly, my best friend Nicole is from Thailand and we've always talked about going together. Julie [View Full Entry]

Yesterday was unfortunately a constant stream of disappointment. We were supposed to go to Ocean Park which was canceled because of a potential typhoon. It didn't rain until 4 pm. We were supposed to have our giant blowout party at the Jumbo Floating Restaurant owned by Jackie Chan, but it was canceled because of a potential typhoon. It didn't start raining until we decided to get dressed up and go out to the [url=http://hongkong.grand.hyatt.com/hyatt/hotels/entertainment/lounges/index [View Full Entry]

After our post-Disney nap, we got dressed up and headed to the Intercontinental Hotel in Tsim Sha Tsui (TST) to go to Nobu . It is a high-end Japanese restaurant partially owned by Robert Deniro. They have locations worldwide. I accidently went into this hotel once when I was lost in TST after walking around the Avenue of the Stars. We ordered way too much food, way too many bottles of wine, and way too many mojitos. It was so delicious and so much fun. I mentioned before that many of you know that I was a pes [View Full Entry]

DiSnEyLaNd!!! Asia » Hong Kong » Lantau Island
This past Saturday we went to the HoNg KoNg DiSnEyLaNd ! I haven't been to a Disney park since I was nine, so I was anxious to see what it would be like going as an adult. We woke up bright and early and boarded the bus to Lantau Island, where Disney is. We were all SOOOO excited to be there! Once we got off the bus and walked in, we instantly started taking photos. Some of us hadn't eating breakfast so we decided to find some food. There was a Lilo and Stitch Summer Dance Party on our way to [View Full Entry]

I would like to dedicate this entry to my late Pentax camera that I received for my 20th birthday. This camera has been with me for over 3 years and has documented many things such as a move to Lubbock and many trips including China, a summer in LA, Israel, and other random places I've been over the past few years. RIP camera. However, I am the new, proud owner of possibly the coolest camera in existence. It is not sold online or in the states yet (hopefully a good thing?). It is a Samsung and has a touch screen. It [View Full Entry]

Lantau Island Asia » Hong Kong » Kowloon
This past Saturday we got on a bus to beautiful Lantau Island. Hong Kong is divided into three parts: Hong Kong Island Peninsula, Kowloon, and The New Territories. Lantau Island is right outside of Hong Kong. It is about twice the size of all of Hong Kong and is not very populated. It is surrounded by water and has gorgeous, small islands. However, these islands are homes to prisons and rehab facilities. Not a bad way to be locked up huh... It took us an hour by bus to reach Tai O, a very old fishing village: Tai O Village . Handover Day Asia » Hong Kong » Kowloon
This web site is having a multitude of problems since they are switching to a new server. I'm finally able to upload all the photos I've been meaning to upload for a couple weeks now. Be sure to check out the 17 photos I added to the Victoria Peak blog and the blog below that has photos of my commute to work. Handover Day is Hong Kong's independence day. It was on July 1st and we all had the day off of work. We found out that we could rent a 40 person yacht for the day for $600HKD which is [View Full Entry]

My Typical Breakfast
My Typical Breakfast
We have a breakfast buffet every morning as part of our meal plan. I usually have an egg white sandwich in a wheat roll, oatmeal, and a piece of fruit.
Mom wanted a picture of my daily work life/morning, so here they are!! For those of you who don't know, I work at Father Financial, a local financial planning company. My primary tasks as an intern are to do equity and economic research for the company. My current project is to help the company update their semi-annual newsletter. I'm also helping them research US healthcare stocks and how the Obama healthcare administration will affect them. I gained some experience on this subject in school last semester so it's a relief to be able to help the company! Here is the company [View Full Entry]

Hello everyone! Sorry it's been a while since my last update. I haven't done too much except go to work, but I'll post some photos and talk about them as well. Two weekends ago (it's Monday right now), we woke up early on a Saturday morning and took a bus to Victoria Peak ( Victoria Peak ). It is an extremely wealthy area of Hong Kong and has a beautiful view off the island. We got there, took a group photo, and went on our own to explore. Some of us were craving American food so we went to the Bubba [View Full Entry]

Hong Kong is so amazing!!!! We landed at about 7 am last Friday. Two people and myself were on the same flight here. We split a cab and headed straight to the University where we're staying. It is the City University of Hong Kong. It's in a really nice, expensive area. The apartments next door don't look very nice but they go for about $3.75M USD. It's expensive around here because it's away from downtown and the air quality is much better. We live at the top of a hill and there is a giant, upscale mall at the bottom. This [View Full Entry]
