Hi everyone, I know it’s been for ever since I last wrote a blog and I apologize. I’ve been lazy! And a lot of you are on Facebook. Those who are, you’ve seen most of these pictures and may have heard some of the stories. Uhm, where to start… I was in New Zealand last year until mid-October. Then I went home for a visit stopping by Hawaii and Vancouver. I also went to Scotland and Wales with the Canadian National rugby team where I got my first senior international cap against Scotland. I then spent a few days visiting Wales and Ireland. I spent Christmas at home and then headed to South Africa in mid-January. I’ve been here since then. I live in Pretoria, the administrative capital of the country which is about 50 km ... read more

Hehe, It's me again. I am still in New Zealand. Still playing rugby and still working at the same ol' cafe but I had a few adventures since I last wrote. First of all, my rugby team made it into Div. 1 (top 4 teams in the league) which is quite the achievement but since then, we have yet to win a game. It kinda sucks and I am always sore from making so many tackles but I guess it'll be beneficial in the end. Also, I knocked out a girl in a game just by tackling her, woupsy! I've also started training with the Canterbury team (equivalent to provincial teams at home I guess). It's been good learning and hardcore fitness. I should learn soon if I make the final cut or not. Work ... read more

Hello again, Things are good, I am in Christchurch, New Zealand, in the suburb of Bishopdale for those who know ChCh. I've been here nearly 2 months, yes, I know I am slow at updating this blog, sorry! Before leaving South Korea, I had been in contact with many rugby clubs in Auckland and ChCh. I wanted to play high level rugby and experience a Kiwi lifestyle with a nice crew. I was recommended by various parties to head to ChCh for a more fun experience than the big city. Sadly, the level of rugby is not as high as Auckland where most of the Black Ferns (National team players) are located. There are a few Black Ferns in the league here and they are easily recognizable not only by their skills but by their ... read more

Hello again, So as most of you know by now, I am in New Zealand at the moment, but how did I get here you may ask? Well, with a lovely (and FREE too) 17 days layover in Thailand. The cheapest flight to Auckland from Seoul had a stopover in Bangkok so I had to go there no matter what, why not enjoy a little bit of summer then. You may not have noticed but I went from winter in Korea to incoming winter in New Zealand so I am actually skipping summer this year. I'm a winter person so I should be fine but the heat and the sun of Thailand were still very welcome. After very sad goodbyes to Kathy and Ben, I happily left Pusan, South Korea, for an exciting adventure. My ... read more

Hello again, I told you I would be updating you all at once, sorry about that, I hope you are still reading. This one is about my last few weeks in Korea, in between the crazy weekend in Guam and the departure for Thailand and New Zealand. I guess I should explain a little how I came with the decision to leave Korea. Well, when I first signed my contract, in September, my boss had asked me to stay until February 2008 so they would have the next teacher start in the new school year (It starts in March here). My other options were to stay until February 2007 or September 2007 (my actual contract). Early on, I realized this type of job was not for me so I couldn’t have stayed for a year ... read more

Hi everyone, So much has happened since my last confession… I am sorry it took me so long. I will try to update you all in the next few days but first I must recount my weekend trip to Guam on the first weekend of February. The Seoul Sisters are always looking for fun and rugby so why not head to Guam (a US territory in the South Pacific) to get some of that. When I heard about the planned tour, I signed up, anything to get out of Korea and travel. Plus, who goes to Guam? Has any of you ever been there? And why not have a 1000$ weekend once in a while? Makes you feel like you are a high-roller living the big life. The weeks leading up to the trip were ... read more

Hello, hello, Well, I have been busy lately, what with trying to figure out the rest of my life and all. And also being told last Thursday that I have to move this week. So, as many of you already know or at least may have doubted by knowing my incredible amount of patience, I have admitted defeat!!!! Yes, I have decided to cut my time here short and head out to bigger and better things. So I am finished with the little snotty brats as of February 23rd, if I can last till then. The plans are still somewhat blurry but look as follows for the time being. Travel around Korea for 7-10 days after my sentence is over, I want to check out some places in the south and an island called Jeju. Then, ... read more

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!! It's hard to believe that it's 2007, man does time go by fast! Anyways, the purpose of this blog is to recount my trip to Japan over the Christmas break. I got lucky, with the way the holidays worked out with my work, I had 10 days off. I say I was lucky because both Hilary and Nat had to work on the 26th-27th. So I decided to go visit Trish who is currently teaching in Osaka, Japan. Her and her family (her mom who came from Vancouver and her uncle, aunt and cousin who live there) welcomed me with open arms, they were awsome! I must start with the longest day ever (well, tied with Halloween at best) that was Friday December 22nd. We have 54 kindergarten kids and my boss thought ... read more

December 20th 2006

Hello everyone, I wasn't gonna write until I got to Japan as life is basically routine at this point: work, train, eat, sleep, fun on weekends... However, last weekend, a great opportunity presented itself. Claire (another SFU alumni, the original to come here) got invited to go riding with a Korean guy and his snowboard instructor buddies. They extended the invitation to the rugby crew so 6 of us girls headed out to Vivaldi Park on Saturday afternoon after rugby practice. I was not in charge of the organisation so I had no expectations, only jitters as I was excited to get a first day of skiing under my belt. The way there was a blur with taxi rides, food gathering stopovers and running to make the bus as we were quite late. Luckily, Claire's friend ... read more
