There seems to be a school of manatees in the area. One of these, has a special fantasy ( see pics) for a special dinghy. The dinghy belongs to Ariel, Julio and Joy. We hear tell, Julio left in dinghy the other day, to visit another boat, with the manatees following him. We hear tell there is a newborn as well. We did see about 5 manatees around the boats one morning. We have been told there is a new group being started in the area called " Dinghies against lewd and lascivious behavior of manatees". What you looking at?
Can you guess what I am doing?

Jan's Birthday, we were asked to go with him on his boat. Ratones is a group of islands, very small, like Rim Tar Bar. The Club members took cooking utensils, a propane stove, and Camacho cooked. Jan provided around 15 lbs of "ovejo" male lamb, freshly killed day before. Camacho made a fricase, Paco and Pete peeled the potatoes and cut up the onions. There was also rice with gandules, which was very yummy, gave me an opportunity to see how it was made. The water was so nice....Nice snorkeling...Very leisured weekend, very en joyful. Located in Ponce, the "Bateyes" or ceremonial ballpark of the Taino culture dates back to 700A.D. It has nine ball fields and three plazas. Containing the largest burial ground, 186 human remains dating back to the 4th century have been located. The park offers archaeological and botanical displays. It is a sanctuary of pre-historic trees, native flora, and birds that existed during the Indian culture. The Museum has many interesting artifacts on display. There is a conference room and a documentary on different Indian cultures. [View Full Entry]

This is the Canastel fruit. It is a variation of what we call a Mamey. The seed looks about the same and the inside taste a bit like it. The inside is orange, fiber like. [View Full Entry]

Our favorite restaurant in Salinas is La Placita. It is owned by a family and ran by all of them. Grandchildren even entertain you. It is closed on Monday's, however, you can make arrangements, as we did, to have a dinner for a group, minimum of 12 persons. The lobster dinner was $25. More than you could eat. We had a large group, but I do not remember (CRS?) some of their names or boat names, argh! We have met so many cruisers...Pete is specially bad with names... So here are more pictures for your enjoyment! [View Full Entry]

Bora Bound

Daughter

Well, our buddies made it to the USA. They were in Charleston yesterday morning. We spoke to both Jon and Marcia on the land line. Thanks goodness for cell phones and Skype. For those of you cruisers out there, we were told the crossing was 50 hours from Guana Cay. That we would have loved it, yeah Jon, rub it in...Magic Moment and Bora Bound also arrived. We met this couple early in 2007, in Georgetown, Bahamas. Along with Cheetah II, Ariel, Island Siren, Island Time, etc...These have been our main buddy boats. Our paths have crossed so many times...We all [View Full Entry]

We arrived here a couple of days ago from the BVI's. We are presently in Honeymoon Beach, Waters Island. We had a wonderful reunion with cruisers we had not seen for some months. Our cell was activated also. Today M was picked up by Kim, Island Siren, and off they went by themselves. We had a real good time. Doing what the ladies do best, shopping. Home Depot is here, and so is Cost U Less, like a Sams. We were able to buy rum for 4.95 a bottle and Vodka for 3.65, unreal! This weekend we will be in PR. [View Full Entry]
