He said it tasted dreadful. We have an expresso machine in our RV so we are spoiled with good coffee. If it isnrsquot good wersquod rather not have any. He went out to the RV to see if the freezer was still cold. The bag of ice we had in there had just started to melt. The chicken was still frozen. The items in the refrige http://www.travelblog.org/North-America/United-States/Arizona/Tucson/blog-420067.html Show Low We sit on our balcony and drink some wine while waiting for the taxi. They said it would be 45 minutes. The taxi arrives our driver is lsquoRobinrsquo. I ask her if they are busy and she said they are. She said the worse part is their dispatcher does not know what she is doing. She is the daughter of the regular dispatcher who is not available to work because she is in jail. The daughter has n http://www.travelblog.org/North-America/United-States/Arizona/Show-Low/blog-420063.html Smoke in Cortez AZ We slept until 8 am this morning. I think Ken is a gypsy. We were supposed to stay at Mesa Verde another night but he wants to move on. He said he has seen everything he needs to see here and wants to move on. So we are headed to Show Low AZ. We had to stop at Walgreenrsquos to get a refill. As we were leaving Walgreens Ken saw smoke coming from the back of the truck and at the same time a g http://www.travelblog.org/North-America/United-States/Colorado/Cortez/blog-419580.html Durango Colorado Got up at 6am again it was cold at 50 degrees. Ken made coffee I had made omlettes and bacon last night and put them in the refrigerator so all I had to do was warm things up and make toast and put them together as sandwiches. I wrapped them in foil packed a change of clothes and we left. We arrive at Outlaw Tours in the town of Durango around 830. It is such a pretty town in the San Juan Mo http://www.travelblog.org/North-America/United-States/Colorado/Durango/blog-419304.html Mesa Verde continued I wake up in the middle of the night freezing. Itrsquos 50 degrees inside donrsquot know what it was outside. Ken throws a blanket on me and we fall back asleep. We didnrsquot wake up until 830hellipthe latest so far. Must be the cool air. We are drinking our lattes outside. We see a deer in the bushes. The same little boy we saw yesterday is dancinghellipmaybe I should do that Itrsq http://www.travelblog.org/North-America/United-States/Colorado/Mesa-Verde-National-Park/blog-419013.html Mesa Verde continued I went up to the camp store to pick up the wireless and blog. Ken stayed back and finished setting things up. As I blogged many campers arrived. This is a pretty busy place. There are over 400 camp sites but only 15 are full hookups which we have one. You have to reserve them in advance. Again a lot of tent campers.Ken makes a few phone calls Jason and Uncle Don. We make dinner chicken basil http://www.travelblog.org/North-America/blog-419012.html Mesa Verde National Park We slept good Ken got up around 530 I got up at 630. We had lattes it was not iced Janin the morning itrsquos 64 degrees so itrsquos tolerable and started packing up. We said lsquoau revoirrsquo to the French neighbors and left. We stopped in town to pick up some breakfast at the R.D.rsquos Drive In. I should have stopped here last nightthey have ice cream. I orderd an egg and ch http://www.travelblog.org/North-America/United-States/blog-418672.html On the Lake I blogged for a while until Ken called. The truck is fine it was just the fuel filter. Must have picked up some bad gas. While he was waiting he met an olersquo guy named Gary. He was having work done on his vehicle. He started talking to Ken or more likely vice versa He owns 16 acres near the North Rim and is trying to sell it. His wife died 6 months ago and he is so so lonely. He has fam http://www.travelblog.org/North-America/United-States/Arizona/Lake-Powell/blog-418662.html Lake Powell Ken got up earlier than memdashhe has an 8 am appointment to get the truck checked out make sure it is OK. When you pulling 6000 lbs behind you you donrsquot want to break down. I got up around 730 and now Irsquom sitting outside drinking my latte. Itrsquos 87 degrees already but Irsquom in shade so it is comfortable. The view of the lake is so pretty. There are a few boats on it alr http://www.travelblog.org/North-America/United-States/Arizona/Lake-Powell/blog-418225.html Lake Powell In the middle of the night I woke up feeling sickhellip.I think its something I ate. Needless to say I didnrsquot get much sleep. Feel a little better this morning. Had my latte and nothing else. Ken ate cheerios. We took our time packing up. We only have 125 miles to travel today to get to Lake Powell. We will definitely come back here. A great place to come to get out of the hot Tucson summ http://www.travelblog.org/North-America/United-States/Arizona/Lake-Powell/blog-418180.html Grand Canyon The North Rim of the Grand Canyon sits atop Kaibab Plateau at 80009000 ft above sea level. I read and found out what the white barked trees are they are white barked aspens. The North Rim and South Rim are only 10 miles apart as the raven flies but over 200 miles if driving. The North Rim is less crowded as most visitors go to the South Rim. It is also cooler here.We first went to the Campstor http://www.travelblog.org/North-America/United-States/Arizona/Grand-Canyon-National-Park/blog-417854.html Slip Slidin' We stopped at a Goodwill store to buy some old shorts to put over our lsquoexpensive water shortsrsquo because a ranger told us that Slide Rock will ruin our pants. We quickly found 2 pairs for 3.00 each kind of expensive really. Theyrsquore ugly. We drive to Slide Rock 10 minutes north of Sedona. It really is beautiful. Itrsquos like a natural water park. The water is so cold it takes http://www.travelblog.org/North-America/United-States/Arizona/Sedona/blog-417158.html Grand Canyon We slept so comfortably with all the windows open nice and cool. We woke up to a gentle rain. We put up the awning and drank our lattes as the gentle rain came down. There is something so relaxing and peaceful listening to the rain. I even got a blanket and wrapped around mehellipit was 64 degrees.I then took a nice hot shower and then we fixed breakfast. Bacon and eggs on the outside grill. A http://www.travelblog.org/North-America/United-States/Arizona/Grand-Canyon-National-Park/blog-417466.html Grand Canyon Just got finished updating the blog at Starbucks. While using their wireless and drinking my latte I was eavesdropping which I love to do. My son Josh and I would always eavesdrop wherever we were. I once heard a man break up with his wife at a restaurant. She was begging him and he was saying it was over while eating his pasta and drinking his wine. It was very sad. Anyway I could hear a conv http://www.travelblog.org/North-America/United-States/Arizona/Grand-Canyon-National-Park/blog-417456.html On the road again Ken got up at 530 and began getting the RV ready to gowithout making too much noise. I told him to wake me at 630. I woke up about 615. We packed up and left the park at 730. Before we left we bought the book ldquoWho Pooped in the Sonoran Desertrdquo for Bella. She saw it when we came here last February. It teaches kids to identify animal scat and tracks. ldquoWersquore going to http://www.travelblog.org/North-America/United-States/Arizona/blog-417161.html Cottonwood and Sedona Ken got up around 6am it was 64 degrees. Miguel did not come over so I guess lsquosenioritarsquo said no fishing. Ken was going to go anyway but realized he had forgotten to put his bait into his new tackle box. He had been using a tackle box that he got when he was 16. Jason our middle son bought him a new one for his birthday. Ken and I have been married for almost 31 years and he has ne http://www.travelblog.org/North-America/United-States/Arizona/Sedona/blog-416906.html Cottonwood AZ We got on the road about 10 am after loading up getting ice etc. Ken had bought a spare gas can and filled it up keeping it in the bed of the truck. We could smell gashellipit was leaking. Everything you buy these days is lsquogreenrsquo the gas can being one of those things. It doesnrsquot have a vent on it because allowing the fumes to escape in to the air is not goodhellipso inst http://www.travelblog.org/North-America/United-States/Arizona/Sedona/blog-416898.html On the road We should be leaving in about an hour.....just need to finish my coffee take a shower. I really enjoy taking my time in the morning when I don't have to go to work. Our drive to Cottonwood should only take about 3 hours so we don't need to rush. It's supposed to be 110 in Tucson this weekend...it should be a little cooler up north..hopefully http://www.travelblog.org/North-America/United-States/Arizona/Tucson/blog-416462.html We leave in 5 Days Ken and I are leaving on an 11 day RV trip Wednesday July 8th.
