I took my wife and daughters to Las Vegas for New Years Eve a couple years ago, and the crowds were too rude for my daughters so we were also back at our hotel before midnight. Enjoy your trip north. Too bad you're not coming to Colorado...it would be great to finally meet you and the kids.

Hi Bob, Happy New Year from Page. We already did Aspen with Leslie in the summer few years ago. I may ski in Vail end of 2013...nothing done yet on that side.

Wow Peter...in a truly magic part of Patagonia...true wilderness. I hope you have spare petrol in the back as well. We drove to Bajo Caracolas to get petrol...but the pumps had a sign "No Hay"...ran out of petrol...only saved by the spare in the back. Gotta say I'm delighted there are still rough sections on Ruta 40...kind of a shame the bitumen is being laid...that section north of Perito Merino is insane.Love your pictures...Cave of the Hands...the rugged & flat landscape...your kids are sure lucky their Dad takes them to such diverse locales. Looking forward to seeing where to next.

Gravels are really fun...but when they turn into stones of more than 5cm, I have no fun with my little car....don't tell you how often the car was too low and we "touched" the middle of the "road". Made it to El Calafate with some funny moments... More blogs obviously coming...and for the kids, it's only the first week of the summer holidays...a lot more to come...full of diversity...

The diving was actually to my liking...as I was expecting way worst...the point is simple...know what you get...and enjoy it... The food was...you know...and for amazing...out of this world....and my expectations are way out of this world....just wait end of January...

J'attendais ton post avec impatience après avoir lu cet article: http://www.rtl.be/info/monde/international/920921/neuf-plongeurs-dont-un-belge-secourus-en-afrique-du-sud Contente de voir que tu n'étais pas dans le lot ! Les plongées ont l'air très chouettes, juste un peu dommage pour la visibilité. Mais j'ajoute quand même la destination à ma liste de prochains voyages :-)

Love this blog Pierre - I agree, dont want to snorkel above sharks for 18km. Protea banks 2014! Enjoyed this blog a lot, your thoughts about oh, what if, have gone through my mind also in PNG when we lost the boat...indeed life has been amazing - looking forward to the next blog and that dive you promised me!

Lost and found divers..
We heard about the divers that were lost and I agree with you I wouldn't have been happy at all drifting on the surface for four hours with all those shark in the ocean! I would have been happier under water, but that would have been a problem with no air!! Sounds like you had some great dives and there are plenty of other places up the East coast to dive - have you tried any other places in SA?

I had some amazing dives too at Aliwal Shaol out of Umkomaas an hour north of Shelly Beach...and planing to do the sardine run with my kids in 2015...

just passing
I was randomly surfing the blogs amazed by the things i'm learning. Surprisingly, i've been living almost my whole life in Buenos Aires and I've never been to a polo match, maybe it's because I had the feeling that it'd be too expensive and i wouldn't be able to enjoy it. But 8usd... it's worth the try! We'll give it a chance next time.
