Rhodes and the Walkerbouts Skiing in Tiffindell is high on our bucket list. We came to Rhodes in 2009 a bit too early in the season. And we also stayed in the Walkerbouts. It is such a lovely place and we remember celebrating my birthday in the bar (which was really crazy). Thanks for the wonderful blog which brought back the amazing memories. And always remember: a rented car takes you everywhere (that is what Bob from Walkerbouts said to us when we arrived there over Naudesnek Pass with a Volksie). Enjoy your time in ZA!
Your children really are living life to the fullest! Pierre, what an amazing childhood your kids are living; and it seems that you are doing a great job: they are very brave and used to unusual situations. I absolutely love reading your blogs and I hope Ella grows up to be as brave and with that thirst for life as your children.
When I took my kids to Hua Hin in 2007... I noticed that the beaches were much narrower and had sea walls almost the entire length. It sounds like now the beaches have disappeared and all that remains is the sea wall. That's sad.
Beaches Well, there is still some kind of beaches around Hua Hin...but not the ones I would ever lay on....you come to Hua Hin for the nice hotels, the golf, the food and simply to realx...and the waterpark....certainly not to go to swim in that brown water...
I spent most of my vacations at Hua Hin as a child... so thanks for the memories. I'm looking forward to reading your summer vacation blogs. So you are going to feed your kids to sharks...should be exciting!
Hi Bob! If only the traffic was easier on week-end...we would go way more often there...no beaches, but nice hotels....and yes, counting the days for the sharks...we are below 2 weeks countdown now...
amazing! I've been to Canada twice but never considered a trip to Manitoba because I'm afraid of the cold and I didn't think there was anything to see there. Now I know what I missed!
Some of the photos are awesome, I was going to comment on each one, but there are too many I like! Leslie with 100 dives and Tiffany with 50+? and they are not even adults!! what a lucky childhood they are living!
Cultural and natural gems Gorgeous Hue--I love old capitals, so good for them for rebuilding the beauty. The scenery over the pass was so lush, though I am surprised at how long your train rides have been--clearly a long country.
This blog is just short of 10 years old. We have now move to South Africa.
Why South Africa? Simple, great wine, great food, great golf and even more amazing diving! I will for once continue to blog from time to time about home. After all, this is just my fourth continent after having grow up in Europe, lived in Asia for twenty years, and even spent a full year living the life of Buenos Aires.
Come to visit....there is so much to do here! ... full info
