Ciao, Roma! Europe » Italy » Lazio » Rome
It is my final hours here in Rome, and I am actually sad to leave. Some people have lowered my expectations of Rome, saying it was grimy and dirty and the people rude. But I've had the best time of my trip so far here. I think the nice weather definitely made a difference. It feels like summer here, although it was drizzling as we left the Vatican yesterday. I've done your typical touristy stuff- gone to the Forum, Palatine Hill, Colosseum, Trevi Fountain, Spanish Steps, Trajan's Column, Vatican, St. Peter's Square and Basilica. Today, Jo (a girl from Canada in [View Full Entry]

Blazing hot! Europe » Italy » Lazio » Rome
I just arrived in Rome less than two hours ago! It is so hot compared to Vienna, which for the most part of my trip was rainy and chilly. Of course, when I finally got the chance to buy a jacket from Zara (cause I had to of course!=P), the weather turns hotter! Oh well... I have to get my thoughts of Vienna down and will update this blog soon. I'm just trying to get my bearings straight today and will go on a whirlwind tour of the typical tourist spots in Rome tomorrow. Will let you know how it goes! [View Full Entry]

I had my official favorite moment in Vienna today. After saying good-bye to Britta who left for London this morning, Gabriela and I take the tram over to the Riesenrad, the Giant Ferris Wheel as seen in "Before Sunrise". Before we hop onto the second tram to take us there, we walk along the Danube for awhile. I definitely liked the Riesenrad a lot better than the London Eye. It was a bit scary; maybe that's why I liked it better! Then Gabriela and I decide to just walk around before she takes the night train to Prague tonight. We just [View Full Entry]

Michelle left to return to London yesterday afternoon, so I am officially traveling solo! After parting ways with her in the afternoon, I headed over to the other hostel I was going to stay at. As soon as I walk into the dorm room, I meet Gabriela, a Brazilian girl who just arrived in Vienna that morning after a long journey from Rome. In a few minutes, Britta, an Australian, wakes up from her nap. We decide to head over to Rathausplatz to watch Don Quixote on the big screen in the plaza, a feat that was dampered for Michelle and [View Full Entry]

Today was another rough day. Our train got into Sudbahnhof at 6:30 AM. We had to take two trams and walk around in the pouring rain to get to our hostel. It didn't help that I had about 12 kilos on my back, plus my daypack and purse. Plus, my jeans got shredded, so having to pull up my pants every 2 minutes sucks. And we were lost and wandering for quite some time... but we made it! Our room was not ready until 11:00 AM and we arrived at 8:00 AM. We took to the internet, tried to form an [View Full Entry]

Instead of partying it up on our last night in Prague, we went to bed early and decided to wake up to see the sun rise on the Charles Bridge. We were semi-successful. =) Our itinerary for our last day in Prague was long, but we ended up just visiting the Alphons Mucha museum, ate gelato- twice, did some window shopping and sat in the Old Town Square where we met a Russian guy who I'm guessing wanted to practice his English. Eventually it was time to leave for the train station. Everytime I see some film that has a scene [View Full Entry]

Prague Castle Europe » Czech Republic » Prague
Today was a rough days. Iwas easily irritated among the horde of tourists (i know... I'm one of them!) all around Prague today. Especially at the Prague castle. It was the worst! Not really, but I didn't like it at all. Everyone was so concentrated in one area, not moving, not being considerate when others were taking pics. It was sooo irritating. It doesn't help that my hormones are acting up. As we sat down for dinner in an outdoor patio of a restaurant in the Mala Strana, it started to pour and they wouldn't serve us. Communication was not easy, [View Full Entry]

It is 2:30 AM and Michelle and I are sitting in the Samaritan cafe yet again. Cheap beer, cheap food, how can you go wrong? That is why I'm here! Today (actually yesterday if I go by the actual time) was much more productive than my first day in Prague, even though we didn't wake up until 11:30 AM and leave the hostel until close to 1:00 PM. That's what I get for traveling with Michelle! Just kidding, Michelle... yeah right! Here is my day in a nutshell: - Walked along the Charles Bridge among the mass of tourists young and [View Full Entry]

Dobry Den! Europe » Czech Republic » Prague
I've arrived in Prague! I flew on a budget airline similar to Southwest called Easy Jet. Many similarities between the two but on Easy Jet, even the water is not free! How fitting for my departure from London. That is one bloody expensive city. Prague is very inexpensive and affordable, especially in comparison to the city that I just came from. My lunch which consisted of a large sandwich, a diet Coke, and a large water bottle cost me about $3.50!!! I've walked around the little area b the hostel, which looks fairly safe and decent. I'm sure Mom and Dad [View Full Entry]

In Leicester Square on my last full day in London, I am FINALLY having fish and chips! The things I wanted to do in London: - Meet with Ray and Tita Virgie - Meet with Ate Jasmin - Hang out with Michelle - See Stonehenge, Bath, Stratford-upon-Avon - Ride on the London Eye - See Big Ben, Westminster Abbey, Buckingham Palace, St. Paul's Church - Watch a play/musical on the West End - Eat fish and chips I've done most on my list, but there are still a few things that I haven't had enough time to do. I guess I [View Full Entry]
