MaggsUresti - Maggie Uresti

Maggie Uresti A good friend o mine told me this...
"Liberty is having the freedom to leave everything behind. ~a cosilla " ...thanks Carol's!

I love this quote because it reminds me to be free, to live life, not just let it pass by! to try and try again, because you can only fail if you haven't tried (its why Im doing this whole traveling thing)...I've found that nothings really ours, (but there's a great freedom in realizing this!) ...in the end we can only take our memories, Im working on that... I'm trying to keep that balance between life and work...trying to remember that money isnt everything, ...trying to meet new people, see new places,...Its always great to re-discover old things when you come back home, usually home is the same but your not...I think its what I love about traveling, it just shakes you out of your routine...

Things I've learned about traveling & LIFE!...Travel light!! (metaphorically speaking) Some of the most happy and peaceful people, are the ones that have "nothing"...maybe b.c. they're not defined by thier possesions or careers. Work is work, and it'll still be there when I get back!!....Next big trip, Italy for NEW YEARS 09!!!! Exciting!!!!!!

"Wandering re-establishes the original harmony which once existed between man and the universe." ~Anatole France

More to LOVE about NY!!!!!!
I think part of what made me fall in love w. NY was, the sleepless nights when we were out wandering, and walking the town. While we were down there we walked all over Manhattan. At first we tried to find the spots were Sex and the City had been filmed, bc. my friend n' I are fans, but as we would be looking for one thing, another popped up and another. I think its what adds to the excitement of the city. We would get lost trying to find one thing, but would end up finding something else. It was [View Full Entry]

Im so glad we didnt really use this, we would just crash here at night, usually around 3AM n' get up as early as we could. All in all, it was a snug little place, it served its purpose, it fit all our stuff, had an amazing view (joking) but it wasnt too bad, n' for what we paid for this place, it really was heaven =) b.c of its location on the upper west side of Manhattan. Only thing, was the shared bathroom, at night you'd have to fog up the shower, to use the fog as a shower curtain, [View Full Entry]

The town was peacful, yet energetic! and full of life.
By far this was the best place in Egypt. I fell in love with the coastal community out here. The people seemed more modern here. The majority of the women here were still in their hijab but their face wasnt covered...Here, the city doesnt sleep, we'd be out at like 11-12ish, and the neighborhood would still be out. I think this is why they left this to the end of the tour, saving the best for last it really was a beautiful city. [View Full Entry]

These smelled delicious!
One of the last stops on our trip was Khalilli market. We did this towards the end of our trip, b.c Hesham our tour guide told us it might seem a bit hectic if we didn't do the other stuff first. Back then I had no idea what he was talking about but as soon as we got there, I figured it out. Its intense!!!!! to say the least! I had never been to any place like it. This is the real Egypt. When we showed up, the smell of spices and perfumes is the first thing I noticed, aside from [View Full Entry]

Obviously not on the brochure One of the things that Hesham didnt mention to us until we got off was that there had been hold ups on the train. Like western style, cowboy type, hold ups. He said there was also shootings b/4 but no one had ever been killed..that explains the funny feeling! Oh well, by the time we knew, we didnt care, we were busy checking out the next sight...which I think was the museum of modern art. What an experience!!, now that Im home n' have time to think about the craziness of this adventure, the night train [View Full Entry]

Egypt was amazing!!! London, & Paris too... but I wish we could've stayed longer :( ...the trip was amazing!!...we met people from around the world which was probably one of the best things, that and the new language we kinda picked up!...On our way back from Cairo, in this random hotel in London, we met some guy from Scotland, Ian, who said he worked w. Keane the band, he was their music engineer or something, and totally looked the part too... he was all rocked out, w. leather pants n everything, its great how many people are out there. Some wierd, [View Full Entry]
