Today we need to catch a ferry from the mainland to isle of Skye so we got up around 8, quickly ate breakfast and were on our way. We went through the Cullin mountains and stopped at the Cullin river. Rocks and mini waterfalls with huge green mountains in the distance. Seriously, I love Scotland. They really know what's important in life - the natural beauty of outdoors and having a good time. It's a very laid back, rough and ready kind of culture. If that makes sense. At Cullin River Neil told us about Scottish legends involving giants. It was a cute love story until all te sudden war breaks out in Ireland, the 'now a father' giant goes to fight in it and leaves his family without warning and eventually gets killed, years later, ... read more

This morning I woke up at 7:30am. Pretty good considering I had everything packed and ready. I checked out and walked down the Royal Mile to the Wild in Scotland office. There was a bunch of people sitting outside with luggage. I joined them and grabbed a cup of fruit, crossant and coffee from the cafe next door. By the time I returned, everyone was paying their kitty and slitting up into our 2 tour groups. 12 of us boarded a bus for the 4 day tour. Wild in Scotland wrote that I owed 21 pounds when my confirmation said 81 pounds because I changed from the 3 day tour to the 4 day. Thank goodness for them I'm honest. Regardless, they would have figured it out when they started buying food and didn't have enough ... read more

I woke up around 9 am, without my alarm. I showered, changed and wandered down High Street. Bagpipers, kilt shops, ladies spinning thread on the streets, I love Scotland. I stopped in a cafe for a cup of coffee, but was short 20 pence, the man sold me the coffee anyways as a kind gester. (I came back to give him the 20 pence once I used the ATM maching at the Royal Museum of Scotland.) Which is where I headed to next. The Museum is free, yes! Half of it is under construction, but it's still massive. I wandered gazing at the Scottish artifacts for a while. It was 12:30 when I left because I was going to meet Keith and Michael. I waited for 20 minutes past 1. I was stood up. Damn boys. ... read more

This morning I woe up around 9:30 a, took a shower and had a bowl of Pecan and Maple nut cereal. It was delicious and I couldn't help but think how much my mom would love it. I sat with Lucy talking about country music and American Idol. She had never heard of Kenny Chesney and I was talking about the concert I'm going to as soon as I return to the states. I had her listen on my iPod and I think she's hooked. She loves Britians Got Talent and I watched an episode with her and Uncle Michael the night before so I introduced her to my favorite in American Idol, David Cook. Again, I think she's hooked. She was set to download his music on iTunes. She took my iPd to watch Grey's ... read more

Today I woke up around 11:30 am, I stayed in Lindsay's room, it was glorious. So much better than a hostel. Her bed was like a giant pillow and I had a lot of sleep to catch up on. I felt bad though because my cousin Stephanie was planning to take me to Manchester United's field at 10:00. Luckily, I discovered she was still asleep as well, so I decided to take a shower. Their bathroom was very typically English. It was themed in black and white with the ceiling beams visible. In the middle was a huge white antique bath tub that took up the majority of the room. In the corner was a small curved glass enclosed shower with a hand held shower head. It was incredibly cute. I loved it. I used the ... read more

I woke up without my alarm again this morning, but this time later than I was supposed to. I learned the cell phone alarm doesn't sound in silent mode. Iset it for 5:45 to catch the 6:56 am to catch the 6:56 am train to Bristol and then Manchester arriving at 11:02. I'm grateful I woke up at all and quickly change, brush my teeth and check out. I made the 7:30 train to Bristol and then found out I would have to wait until 9:30 for my train to Manchester. I determined my need for coffee. Went into the coffee shop and ordered a regular, black coffee and almond crossant. I sat there sipping my huge coffee and reading until the train arrived. I found my seat in the quiet car, plugged into the outlet ... read more

Today something woke me up before my 6:00 am alarm, so at 5:30 I got my things together and headed toward the train station. I forgot my bus pass to Bath, England at home so I was hoping to grab a train for a similar price, but it cost almost £60 during business rush hour that morning!!!! I did it though because I only have one day in Bath and half of it will be spent at Stonehedge. I got on the Underground to Paddington Station and boarded my 6:50 train on Platform 7. I feel like every suit was staring at me in my jeans, windbreaker and backpack. I got a window seat and gazed into the country side before arriving in Bath SPA just as it began raining. I pulled out my travel umbrella, ... read more

I woke up to my alarm at 7:30 am. I stumbled out of bed because my legs were aching from all the walking from the day before. I went to the basement of my hostel where they were serving breakfast. I found some dishes and poured myself a bould of corn flakes. I made myself toast and poured an essential cup of coffee. I sat with Anna, from the Ukraine. She could barely understnad me, so conversation was simple. After being worried that Harry overslept or left without me, he finally walked into the kitchen still half asleep. He ate his meal and we decided we'd start out toward Buckingham Palace and explore Hyde Park. The coffee helped with my aching legs, so before I knew it I was approaching the glistening Victoria Memorial and golden ... read more

This morning I woke up on the plane to the stewardess handing me a nice warm breakfast. It was 11 am London time. 90 minutes later I safely landed at Gatwick aiprot. Jeneva and I excited the plane and headed to customs. The guy quized me about my trip and stamped my passport, then directed me to baggage claim. My backpack was waiting for me. Jeneva and I both were taking the Gatwick express so we went to buy our tickets. Then we said goodbye, snapped some more pictures and promised to remain in touch. On the train I called home, they were happy I was safely abroad. The train arrived at Victoria Station and I followed my directions to Astor Victoria hostel about 4 blocks away. There was a line out the door ready to ... read more

Yesterday May 12th: Today I sit in airports. My relationship with airports is love:hate. I think the collection of diverse people all on different sorts of adventures is incredible. For a shy person like me, the number of solo travellers interested in conversation is nervewrecking :-P Haha. Suince my 1:00pm flight from Philly to Atlanta was delayed to 3:00pm, I got a bite to eat. I sat with Sharon, who is traveling to Costa Rica to sell some of her properties there. Earlier I was talking to Tom whose daughter really wants to play college volleyabll or aksetball and is traveling to Atlanta on business. My hate relationship with aiports is how rushed and rude people are, not to mention how nothing seems to happen when they say it will. As a group, airline travellers have ... read more
