Hi Everyone, I made it to Thailand safe and sound. It was a little touch and go for a while there but I managed to flirt my way back into having a ticket and get to Bangkok! My time in Italy can be summed up into one Italian word that was used quite often by my good friend Nirit and I. Bizarro. But it was a great experience. I started my trip by a 2 day adventure around Rome. When I got to my hostel I meet a guy from San Diego! He had one day to see all the sites so I decided to take up the challenge. We started early in the morning and went to the Vatican first which was mind blowing. It was an overwhelming experience of Catholic extravagance. But you end ... read more
Hello! I hope everyone had awesome holidays! Emily and I had a very mellow time here at her place. Oli’s parents were here for Christmas. It was very sunny and warm on Christmas morning. We opened presents outside and drank mimosas! Oli, the chef extraordinaire, did not let us get hungry the entire week of the holidays. I am leaving this house filling out my once baggy jeans. New Years we had a small gathering at their house that ended in a very gripping game of Balderdash. I drank half my weight in red wine so I obviously did very well at the game. Emily and I went on a road trip right after the New Years. We rented a trusty station wagon and hit the road. Intent on making it the most budget trip possible. ... read more
Hi Everyone, The winds of travel blew me down in to Morocco for the last 3 weeks. It was a great adventure. A college friend of mine was traveling through Europe and got to Tarfia just a day after I got to my sister's house. It took very little convincing to talk me into going with him. I apologized to my sister and promised to come back in no more than 10 days! She dropped us off at the ferry terminal and threatened Chris with his life he didn't get me back in one piece. I didn't get a chance to do any research for the trip and had no idea what to expect. Chris had the the travel plan so I just was tagging a long. I was also a little nervous because I didn't ... read more
Hi Everyone, It’s been a long time from the last post. I was a little distracted in Saba. I was having so much fun diving and hanging out with people I totally forgot to post a blog before I left! I am in New York right now staying with Darcee. I leave tonight for Spain! I am very excited to see Emily! The last days in Saba were amazing. That part of the world is so wonderful. I am missing it a lot right now. Life was so good, simple, easy, and relaxed there. I really hope I can make it back there sometime soon. I have an offer for a job in June so we will see what happens, I might be back! I experienced Hurricane Omar down there, it was really crazy. I had ... read more
Hello everyone! I am sorry it has been so long since my last blog posting! I am terrible, I know. I have got a couple of threatening emails demanding to know what is going on with me and where I am at! I have talked to a couple of you so bear with me it might be redundant. I am still on Saba Island. For those looking for it on a map will find that sometimes its not there! It’s one of the smallest islands in the Leeward Islands of the Caribbean. It’s right next to St. Maarten and St. Eustatius. The island is only 5 square miles and is very mountainous, it seems much larger! The island is a tip of a mountain coming out of the water peaking out at 3000 feet! So everything ... read more
Hi Everyone! I am sorry its been so long since the last update! I am in Saba right now. I got here last Thursday. I managed to squeak into the island before they shut down all the flights and ferries due to the tail end of the hurricane! I am pretty lucky! Once I got here I climbed Mount Scenery and then the next day I woke up totally sick! I was laid up the last 5 days! I am treating my self to this absolutely awesome place called El Momo. I took the room called "In the Sky". Its just a one bedroom place with an outside kitchen and bathroom with an epic view! Check out the pictures! It was one of the best places I have ever been sick. I just spent my days ... read more
Hi Everyone, I was stuck here in St. Vincent. I went to the ferry terminal Monday morning and they canceled the trip to Union Island since the boat Captain was sick. Its so Caribbean...so yesterday I had to hang out for another day. Fortunately my bushman friend Nato found me on the beach and took me snorkeling to cheer me up. So now I am at the ferry terminal, I got here super early to make sure I had some options and now I am heading to Union Island! Hooray! I just have to wait around for 3 hours. Oh the joys of traveling! My time in Bequia was relaxing and fun. I went on 4 dives the first two days that I was there. There was great visibility and the corals were amazing! I even ... read more
Hi Everyone, I am sorry for the lack of update for awhile. I have been having too much fun! And avoiding going into expensive and hot internet cafes. But here I am I going to give you all a quick update. I left Barbados early as you all can tell. I was there for 10 days which was enough. There really wasn't too much to do there. I met a guy at the guest house I was staying at and we rented a car and drove around the island in a day and a half. It was really fun! We got to see all the sights and got lost a lot! There are no road signs there so it made it difficult to navigate. But my favorite place was Bathsheba! It was breathtaking. I didn't get ... read more
Hi Everyone, I am writing you my last blog post from the Cayman Islands. I am leaving tomorrow for Barbados! I am super excited! I have fitting in a lot of things in before I take off. For instance James certified Sarah and I with an Advance Diving Certification. I was certified in 3 days! The first dive we did an amazing Deep Dive on this wall dive called Babylon. We swam off shore about 500 feet to this buoy and dropped down. We swam over to edge and peered over! It was a 3000 foot drop into deep dark blue. It was absolutely insane. Words can not describe the feeling in your chest when you see that. We dropped down to 100 feet along the wall and was teaming with life and corals bigger than ... read more
Hi Everyone! The following words were said to me before I left: “Mae you are going to be sitting there in a moment and you are not going to be able to wipe the smile from your face. You will have the overwhelming feeling of contentment and will be wallowing happiness. I am not sure who said it to me all I can say is it happened to me this last week I was drink a beer in the bar right on the water with all my new friends around me, saltiness covering my skin, sun blazing on my back, frigate bird flying overhead, and a warm breeze coming from the ocean. I had just got out of the water after one of the most incredible dives I have ever done. I was very happy with ... read more
