Thanks for sharing I will be travelling to Peru in March 2012 and reading your blog was most informative and very entertaining! I've been to Macchu Picchu before so this time I'm planning to visit Arequipa and the jungle if possible. Do you know if there were just a tad little more comfortable accommodations than the ones you and Jeff had in the Amazonas? Thanks!
Peru March 2012 Hi There, There was a number of other places along the Amazonas, but you certainly had to pay a lot more and the further you go into the Amazonas, the more you have to pay. If I was to go back again and had more time, I would probably pay the extra few hundered $ and extend my stay. When you do find a place you like either via a tourist site, always contact the hotel direct, you will get a better price.
motion + altitude sickness Love your pictures.
We are going to Peru for 14 days. I have a problem with motion sickness. If I add this to altitude sickness - looks like a lot. Could you please advise how to deal with it? Does going to Colca on the 2nd day of our arrival make sens?
Thx
Zofia
Welcome Back Welcome back boys Mick you need to do this for a living that is become a travel journalist!!
Sounds like an interesting trip look forward to hearing it verbally although I was not too keen on the mozzies?
the sloth what a silly animal the sloth, they are soft and stiff as a board when you pick them up, why they are not extinct is beyond me. Did you know they only poo once a week . . . .cant be my species
dad (: I remember doing an assignment on the Incas and Machu Picchu. Looks like an amazing place (: your lucky you got to experience the real thing. You and Jeff seem like your having a really good time, pretty jealous, specially about those markets, looks alot like Mexico. I miss you so much, not too long and you'll be home :)
Hope your having a really good time, mum and matt are so fussy over baz, always wrapping him in his blanket and sending him to bed. He's always up barking at some possum on the garage roof.
Keep enjoying yourself, talk soon .
love you, jacc xxxx
Swan Hill Backpacker Kerrie Kerr at works wants to know the name of the backpacker from Swan Hill that you met as she grew up in Swan Hill and knows most people from there. I said I'd comment you and ask.
Wild pigs in dorm. Sounds like you're having a great time. Caroline must have been waiting out in the hall way for you guys to wake up - she was too scared to go in listening to the snores and grunts - she probably thought two wild pigs had got in her room!
You are obviously tired! You are obviously exhausted as this blog makes the least sense of any heh heh heh. Go get some sleep you old Gringo! Love you xx
Bad news or good news Hey bro, mum broke her arm she is Gldstone Hospital infection set in and a metal plate put in and in lot of pain. She didn,t tell me until 6 days late and dad lied all this time. I think he is now worried. They might come Home... Just ring dad if you get chance XXX
Brett Files Thanks Brett, we should have our pre tennis training over here in the high altitude, we wouldn´t be so short on breathe then when we play back home. Beer is good, the one I like is Casquela (spelt something like that) and another one we have tried is the Arequipa beer which would be second favourite, the first few clear your system like the old XXXX did. after that your right to go.
Colca Canyon Photos are great, you need more with you in them as it is good to see your face! Guinea Pig sounds awful and how can you eat such sweet faced creatures as an Alpaca? Loved the Bazil photo. xx
Another couple The "other couple" you write about are male and female. Notice anything different to "you " couple? Ha ha. It all sound fantastic so far. Keep up the writing only try the next one drunk.
