Jekyl Island Hi Chris and Frank, ,
Glad you are enjoying your adventure. I am with you in spirit. I loved Jekyl Island. Mac and I went to the Queen Ann style hotel for a magnificent brunch. It was amazing at about $13 per head. We were offered valet parking for our marina bikes but declined knowing we could take care of them ourselves. If you pass through there again, I highly recommend the brunch plus the historic tour by horse and buggy.
On our second trip, we were in Jacksonville, Florida by the end of November and had ice on the dock.
Love your blog!!!
Fair winds and calm seas, Sandy
Bravo Zulu - Well Done I start with a little Naval acknowledgement. This cold is unreal and seems to be getting worse before it gets better. CNN has been talking about the cold air from Canada for a few days. The UK is also in a snowy deep freeze. That is a great picture of "US"; and poor Ginger. A tot of 150 over proof Navy Rum could warm you for a while and it helps with attitude adjustment too. Do you have a Florida location in mind... like Orlando? We had a civilized New Years Eve in Strathroy... and then it started to snow. They have pilled up 3 to 4 feet off Lake Huron; we have only a little.
Stay Warm... the sun is on the rise now... that is positive.
Cheers, Mike
Talk..... Ya, you guys brought the cold with you :-). The news says Florida oranges are in trouble. Another reason to raise prices in the Great White North. Safe Sailing my friends
Gord in the cold country.
Happy New Year Hope you have a wonderful fun filled and spectacular 2010. And here's hoping that all your dreams come true. I'm sending out good thoughts for both of you and Ginger!

Happy New Year Chris and Frank....very happy new year to both of you. I am back in Greensboro now and will restart my day job tomorrow :((( Have had two nice weeks in Oriental, but Bama and I both worked very hard the whole time. It was good to be together, though! Frank, now that my Christmas gifts are made and delivered, I plan to devote some attention to the blocks and belaying pins...will be in touch...
Happy New Year to you and very, very safe travels. JD
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year Lisa and I would like to wish you a Merry Christmas and happy uneventful (as far as injuries go) New Year. Yes it is snowing here and it was -15 C for the last couple of days but your blog helps to make us think warm thoughts. That and the boat show is on next weekend on Toronto.
Happy New Year Hi guys

We enjoy your blog and eagerly anticipate your updates.
Hope to catch up with you down south

the tropics We are about to celebrate the New Year in Costa Rica with a temperature of 92F. I am not missing the snow. Enjoy Charleston and the New Year.
We are loving the palm trees and the warm breezes.

Gilles and Leslie Sounds like you had a great Christmas. A wonderful couple invited us to a Christmas Eve dinner and gave us an awesome goody bag that lasted for 3 days! No cooking - how good is that? Missing you all and wishing you the best possible year in 2010.
December 29th - Mike & Marilyn Finally caught up with your blogs. You have had some more adventure... adventures to grow. All is well here. We are preparing for a trip to Florida... 16 to 28 January... a gift from our kids for the 50th Wedding Anniversary. The pain of flying is getting worse. I hope it does not get to be even more of a problem. May have to drive down; not a bad idea really for it just takes time. HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!!
x-mas Hey you two, read your last blog and it sounds like you are both enjoying your new life adventure. So pleased to hear Frank is getting better. What plans, if any, do you have for your next leg of the trip. Are you still looking at making it to Mardis Gras in New Orleans? If you ever thought leaving was not a good idea, it is minus 16 Celcius hear this morning. We had a lot of family come for the holidays. Everyone thinking of you and wishing you all the best in your travels. Keep the blogs coming and looking forward to your next entry. Merry X-mas to you both and hope to see you soon.
Hello Melodeons Good to hear that Frank and his foot are being better to each other. Glad you are safely 'moored' for the holiday. We're in Colorado with 4" of new snow and more on the way. Good times here. Will you email us the pick of us on "the boat, not the rum". Its a good one and we have very few of both of us aboard.
Have a merry Christmas and take your time going south....enjoy the ride! and be safe.

Ahoy "Incredible"! Federal Point Yacht Club has been the complete rest we didn't even know we needed... which is the best kind. For us the weather's a whole lot better than we're used to! Thanks Alan and Beverly for your tremendous help. Enjoy the best possible Christmas. CFG
Thanks Gord and Pat Have an awesome Christmas with your family, howdy to friends in Windsor ... and Gord, remember that it's extra important at this time of year to remember portion control. LOL : )
Dear John and Bama Sounds like the most wonderful family time and I know it will be delicious!!!. We have some exciting new developments with crew and we preparing for our next leap into the ICW. Still need to do a blog on Oriental but it's so BIG and hard to encompass. We'll see you for sure in the New Year. Happy, huggy holiday! Love CFG
Merry Christmas Hi folks! I'm back in Oriental as of last Friday (left a day early to avoid the snowstorm). We have been working very hard at the Emporium...seems like there is no end to cooking, washing up, etc., but that is good. We spent Sunday with my daughter, her husband, and two grandchildren in Jacksonville, NC, somewhat close to Wilmington. We had hoped to maybe get down to see you before you shoved off, but afraid that won't happen. We had a busy day today, and tomorrow and Thursday are likely to be the same. Then we will have Fri, Sat, Sun, Mon off. My other daughter and family are coming on 12/26 and staying a few days, so that will be nice.
We think of you daily and wonder what adventures you face. Our very best to both of you for a very Merry Christmas, and we are delighted to hear that Frank is getting about again!!!
Safe travels, friends...
John and Bama
Safety Inspection Needed Dear Chris and Frank, I'm sorry to hear about your mishap. Lucky it was'nt in shark infested waters :-). Obviously Chris you forgot to do a final hazard assesment before you left port. Maybe we can call it Mangement Oversight? Anyway, Frank heal fast! I wil speak to the Gods of our universe and ask them for a safer journey for Melodeon and its crew. Have a good Christmas and a safer New Year. Gord and Pat and Family
With a crew of 3, Frank, Chris and Ginger Bear, MELODEON left Fraser Park Marina in Trenton, Ontario, Canada in 2009. Like many aquatic snowbirds heading south, MELODEON voyaged through the Erie Canal, the Hudson River, the Atlantic ocean and the Intercoastal Waterway until reaching sunnier shores in Florida and the Bahamas . 2011-12 is MELODEON's third cruising season, with the last two trips spent lingering in the sparkling waters and peaceful havens of Grand Bahama Island.... full info
