After a great week in London, we set off on our last tour.It was fast-paced and tiring (with lots of 1 night stays) but we saw 7 countries in 7 days - not bad!!Amsterdam was an eye-opener, Luke didn't want to leave. Unfortunately, we weren't there for as long as we would have liked, but we got to see the infamous red light district as well as visit Grasshoppers - the air in there was enough to wipe you out!!Thru Germany to the amazing Neuchwanstein Castle - it was like a fairytale!!From there we we went to Innsbruck, Leichtenstein into Switzerland - and up Stanserhorn mountain (9300 feet) thru the clouds and overlooking the white-peaked Swiss Alps. Man, the air was thin up there!! (unlike Luke - he told me to write that!!)From there onto our ... read more

We've had a great few days in London - been travelling around with our tourist "must see" maps showing all the icons (Buckingham Palace, London Eye, Madame Tussaud's etc). We have been very lucky with the weather - Monday and Tuesday there was occasional rain spurts, but yesterday and today there is blue sky and sunshine - even to the point of requiring sunnies!! Tuesday night Meggs came down to visit, and with met up with Steph and went to dinner at the LongAcre pub, Covent Garden - had a few drinks - and a great night! We loved Madame Tussaud's - in one room, we honestly thought John Travolta and Samuel L Jackson were part of the crowd - they were so lifelike! Luke posed with Sly and couldn't help but grope Britney! It's great ... read more

We'd been looking forward to coming to Dubrovnik for a while now to chill out - had planned to enjoy the sun, take a dip in the ocean, and Luke had his heart set on spending some quality time with the barman at the swim-up-bar at our hotel. Unfortunately, someone forgot to inform mother nature!! Bitch!! The first few days started pretty crappy, continuous rain and grey skies, but then cleared in the afternoon - so we shouldn't complain too much. We visited the charming town of Dubrovnik (into the old city) every evening for dinner - the food at our hotel is ridiculously overpriced - and even found the waiter who served Catherine Zeta-Jones and Michael Douglas (according to a pic in a Croatian mag!!) Today was the first day of nothing but sunshine - ... read more

Well, we can now say we´ve been to Oktoberfest - and what an experience!! Imagine the Easter Show x 1000. More people (albeit drunken), more rides, more games - and then there are the beer tents. Picture huge circus tents full of long wooden tables - crammed with people drinking beer. You can barely move inside - it is crazy!! Luke enjoyed many steins (not to mention the pork knuckle he has been drooling over for a week!!) Just thought Oktoberfest needed it´s own entry!!... read more

Well we finally finished (that doesn´t sounds so good) our 2nd tour. It actually got much better after the blow ups on day 2 (re seating on the bus). Prague, Budapest and Vienna are similar - all formed around the Danube River. We liked Prague the most of the three - but then we got to Salzburg, and fell in love with this cool city. We timed it really well - we arrived mid festival (they only have it once a year for 4 days). It was kind of like the Easter Show (only the Austrian version) with pretzels instead of dagwood dogs, and men jigging in whacky outfits. This morning we drove up the Austrian Alps to the Eagles Nest - the place where Hitler and Ava Braun lived during summer (approx 4 months a ... read more

Well we said goodbye to Rome - we didn't want to leave, but we met an Aussie couple on the last night while we were having dinner and we were talking about where we were going on our next tour, and when we mentioned Budapest, they were really excited for us. They had just come from there, and were talking about how good it is. Then we got really excited too!! The flight to Munich was interesting. The plane was an itty bitty 45-seater. Always fun to have to catch a bus onto the runway out to your plane cause it's too little to pull up to the airport gate!! Met our new tour group and guide, Helga, at Munich and the fun starts again. This tour group seem alot older than the last group. We ... read more

Well we have finished our 1st tour and are now back in Rome. We had a great time - every place we visited we loved more than the last - but you couldn't pick a favourite spot cause they were all so different and fantastic!! If forced to choose, we would have to say Sorrento and Lake Maggoire were our favs. We have eaten pizza and pasta EVERY day (Ange, your wish will come true) and Luke is convinced he is starting to resemble the late Pavorotti. Half of our tour group were yanks - and they drove us a little nuts (luke prefers the term 'wankers') - but the other half were Aussies, and we had heaps of fun with them. Last night (our final night on tour) we went out in Rome for a ... read more

We were sad to leave Rome, but excited to start the 'travelling' part of our tour. We headed south from Rome via Monte Cassino to Pompeii - what an amazing city frozen in time. It was extrememly hot (and some of the yanks whinged like there was something our guide could do!) but we really enjoyed it. We saw some bars (with wine holders), some residential homes (with gardens and everything) and then Luke's favourite - the red light district - complete with beds and even the girls 'menus' written above their rooms! From Pompeii, we continued on to Sorrento for 2 nights. We just loved Sorrento so much - so laid back, yet so charming. We joined an optional tour and had a seafood dinner in a restaurant right on the water - literally - ... read more
