For the second time modern technology with all its advancements and internet gadgets has destroyed a great piece of creative writing; one of my Blog entries. However, seeing as this will inevitably be my last one for this journey, I shall try to retrieve it in full glory in order to finish strong. The initial writing of this last Blog was incredibly hard for me, because in a way it put(s) a line under my travels, and with that also under complete freedom of responsibility and commitments, as well as my ending Gap Year. On the other hand this is also the starting point for a new chapter in my life. Of course lazing around and not having to do very much at all is extremely relaxing and good for becoming aware of what it is ... read more

This entry is long overdue and I'm so sorry I've been slacking off for so long. It's just that I buggered up my time schedule (which really was non existant in the first place), meaning I had to be consistantly moving in order to make it down to Christchurch in time for my flight. I believe I stopped my last entry at Waitomo, so that's where I shall pick things up again. Because I never took time to consider my route and travelled up to Waitomo after already having gone halfway down the North Island I had an eight hour bus journey down to Wellington before me (not the last one as I was soon to find out). I arrived at night but my first impression of Wellington was very good. Upon enquiry of Hostel prices ... read more

Hey everybody, This entry had already been written in full length at the library (free internet) but for some stupid reason was deleted and unable to be retrieved. So excuse me if I can't be bothered to elaborate on my tellings in the same fashion as previously. As previously stated I ventured to Napier to potentially go and see the Commodores and Cape Kidnapper. I arrived late and in my search of a hostel couldn't help but notice a big sign saying: "Beds from 19$ per Night, FREE Super Fast 24Hour Internet! and guitar!!!" Well thinks I, that sounds rather good, doesn't it. So off I go, booking a room etc. Now let me share two pieces of advice with you: 1.There is always a reason for why something is cheap. Either there is an abundance ... read more

Hey, I am in Rotarua and it smells... aweful. But before I get started, let me tell you how I got here. I was mentally and phzsically prepared to Hitchike from Coromandel to Rotarua and just see what happens and whether it would work. After all Coromandel is a small town and people heading out will be fairly likely to give you a lift. So I get up at 8am grab a quick shower and as I'm leaving the bathroom I see 2 girls preparing to leave. So casually I ask them where they were heading and as it turns out the y wanted to see Hot Water Beach (which I had wanted to see but just didn't get around to) and then head off to Rotarua!!! I asked whether I could get a ride and ... read more

Hey Everybody! I'm really sorry about the delay in my Blog entry. I hear some people are worried sick about me. Well, first of all let me ease your mind. I am perfectly well. Furthermore: There is no need to be concerned! NZ has next to no crime rate and Backpackers are taken care of by pretty much everyone because 18% of the money going into NZ is through them. So don't worry. In case you think I might get lost or whatever you should know that there's hostels everywhere and people driving around in cars who will happily give you a ride (so I"m told anyway). So now after that let me get to describing NZ. Personally I think that Auckland is a fairly bad place to start your journey here. You get there and ... read more

Hey everybody. Just a quick note to ease your mind. Have safely arrived in Auckland and did not get quarantined or locked up. Havn't showered in 48 hours, havn't slept more than 12 hours in the last 3 days, havn't shaved in 5 days and am wearing my clothes for the 3rd day. Feeling much better, no more headache and less violent coughing. Have finished talking my medicine. IT IS 4:30 in the morning and I can not check into my hostel until 1pm. Have sorted myself out for transfer to the city and directions to the hostel. Will try to do something productive like shaving and eating. Weather is bad; raining and 9C. Apologies for manner of Blog entry but too tired. Thinking of you all. Will keep you posted PS: Will add Pictures of ... read more

Hola mis amigos y familia! So this is my first La Paz entry. But before starting with that just a quick overview of how I am. Well quite simply not so great because I´m sick. Now there may be several reasons for that. It could be that spending 5 days in a dusty apartment is probably not all too good for you health. Also it could be that jetting around the world and not staying in a certain time zone ´might upset the natural rythm of your body. In addition to that, having ridiculous friends who have ridiculoous parties which cause you to have rediculous bedtimes doesn´t help. When you do just about everything that´s bad for your body besides that you shouldn´t really wonder. Of course it could also be that the Air Conditioning in ... read more

So after having been here for 4 days I have realised a few things. Most importantly: When you're pretending to be a giant moth by wrapping your sleeping bag around you and using it as wings and the other people in the room are not terribly disturbed by it, chances are they'll be nice. No really though. Once again I realised that true friends don't need to be around each other in order to maintain their friendship. Although I've been away from all the people here for almost 2 years, nothing has really changed regarding our friendship. Of course everyone lives in a different environment now, some have new and different friends and do things they'd never gotten a chance to before. But the way that a conversation, a hug or maybe even a kiss feels, ... read more

So here I am with my first proper Blog entry. The flight to Montreal was pretty good, having a 3 hour Stopover in Heathrow and lounging in the new Terminal 5, eating a nice Sunday roast and washing it down with a pint. Nothing super interesting happened on the flight other than the fact that a 5 year old assaulted me with his plastic spoon. Got picked up from the airport by Hongman, took a cab back to his place and settled into his new apartment. When I arrived I had to fairly fight my way through all the pieces of furniture and dirty clothing but today's major cleanup has pretty much taken care of that. Mel came over and we caught up on old times. As you see Montreal's been fairly uneventful so far and ... read more

Hello, Hola and Moin Moin to all of you! Well this is my Blog for all those who may or may not be interested in my journey which I gloriously entitle: "Lucas rips up the world tour 2009". I will write in english because of multiple nationalities reading this. To all the non-native english speakers: do not be scared by this initial Blog-length or -style. I simply try to make up for lack of excitimg things to say and pictures to fill the space. If you don't want to receive any more of this blog business just tell me and I'll scratch you from the list. Also write me anything else you would like me to take note of such as not adding nude pictures of myself or else. So here I am, a bare 4 ... read more
