I am a retired lieutenant of the Rockford, Illinois Fire Department. I retired to Naples Florida. I have ridden my Honda Gold Wing motorcycles a quarter million miles between 1998 and 2005 when I sold it and bought a Honda Silver Wing scooter. I use the scooter locally, and haul it behind the trailer when I travel. I am now spending several weeks a year traveling in my fifth wheel camper.

When we left our friends in New Hampshire, we headed up into Maine. We started our Maine trip with a three day stay in Boothbay Harbor. We went on a whale watch trip, and saw whales, and a lot of seals. We were on the water about 4 hours. It was sunny, but quite cool for our Florida bodies. When we got back from the whale watching, we went to a nice restaurant on the dock, and ate whole lobster dinners. Back at our campsite, we leaned back and enjoyed looking at the stars. We got to see several meteor showers. Pretty awesome to watch them. The next day, we went into town, and shopped. Their are a lot of nice shops there, and we found some souveniers to bring home. On the way into town ... read more

When we left the Adriondaks, we headed to new Hampshire, via the white mountains. We wanted to stop and visit our friends from Florida that live there in the summer. Our first stop was right on the shore of Lake Champlaign. We enjoyed the night breeze off the lake, but it did get chilly later in the evening. The campfire felt really good. We crossed Vermont quickly. I have a hard time getting used to states you can cross in a couple hours. We managed to stop at a really great farm stand where we got real maple syrup, sweet corn, green beans and some really great tomatoes. We visited Rob and Marion for three days, Marion is a good cook, and we ate there two nights, One day the girls went to an art and ... read more

We finally left Hideaway resort in Pequot lakes, Minnesota. It was late morning before we got out of there. We both hated to leave the place. Log cabins over looking the lake and people we consider good friends, that own the resort, why leave. We went up to Duluth, and crossed over into Wisconsin, where we started following the Great Lakes circle tour. This is a well marked, very scenic, route around the Great Lakes through Wisconsin, and Michigan. Our first night was in a nice campground in Iron River, Michigan. There were a lot of beautiful birds at the bird feeder next door to our site. We really enjoyed watching them. We followed route two across Northern Michigan, viewing light houses, and nice beach areas, before stopping at a really great RV park right on ... read more

We got into the campground near the twin cities, Minneapolis, St. Paul, on the 7th of July. We spent three days there visiting with Sharyn"s family. We went to dinner with Ted, her brother, the second night. The Next day we joined her twin, Shirley, youngest sister Patti, at brother Jim"s Home. Brothers Barry and Dave also were there. Barry is a twin to the oldest sister, Barb, who could not attend. Various spouces were also there. During the day on the eighth while doingm a little maintenance on the camper, I hit my head and required 6 stiches to fix. Except for the embarassment, all is well now. We left the cities for Peqote Lakes, MN. We always rent a cabin on a nice fishing lake where my family went for vacations, starting when I ... read more

Sharyn and I left Naples, Florida on Friday, June 25th. Before going any further I want to say that I am using a tiny laptop. The keys are too close together for my fat little fingers. So, be prepared for some one finger typing errors. We stopped just across the Grorgia state line at the Eagles Roost RV Park. It was a very nice place that we had seen on previous trips. It was never the right time of the day to stop until this year, however. During the night the power converter failed. The air shut down as did all lights, fridge, etc. Luckily we got the name of a guy who would come out to the park and work on it. The slide and the awning were out, and the jacks were down, so moving ... read more
