Beautiful Munich! Europe » Germany » Bavaria » Munich
Me in Munich
Me in Munich
There were lions all over the city, each one with a different outfit representing a different part of the city
When Luke and I arrived in Munich we were greeted by his family friends, Robert and Regina. On our first night, they took us out to an underground restaurant, serving traditional Bevarian food...so of course, Luke ordered an extremely typical german dish....a plate of lots of different sausages!!!! i stuck with a baked potato!!! We spent the next day being shown around Munich by Robert and Regina. I found Munich to be a very beautiful city. Although it is classed as a city, it seems like you are just in a big village, as the buildings are only a few stories [View Full Entry]

Luke and I

We arrived in Hamburg the day before Chris Munros 19th Birthday. Our first night we spent having a few drinks, catching up with Jakob and Chris, and getting to know all of Jakobs family. I instantly fell in love with all of his family, they were just so welcoming and friendly. Jakobs dad, Andreas, became known for his 'no fear' approach to learning english...he never cared how many words he said wrong, or how much his kids laughed at him...he was always willing to learn! This provided us with much entertainment throughout the week...but, i must admit, his english is actually [View Full Entry]

Luke and I

On the 23rd, Luke and I headed off on our two week trip through europe. We began in Amsterdam, which to be honest, didnt give our trip the best start!!!! When we arrived in Amsterdam the first thing we needed to do was find accomodation, which we thought would be simple....until an hour and a half later, when we had walked around the whole city in the pouring rain at night with our backpacks on being constantly informed by each hotel that they had no occupancy! Finally, we found a little hotel, in which we got a terrible room covered in [View Full Entry]

The lovely side of Amsterdam!

This past week I have been visiting many of my scotish relatives. I began my little trip in Glasgow, and was able to visit my Nans childhood house and school. We went out for an amazing dinner at a small pub, then the next day headed toward Edinburgh. Edinburgh is a lovely city, but very busy, so we didnt spend too long there. Just enough time to have a stroll through the area, check out the castle, and have a nice cuppa and muffin! For the rest of the week I stayed with my relatives, Jack and Irene, in Newcastle (Northern [View Full Entry]

My Final Day! Europe » Slovenia » Istria » Piran
Today was my last sightseeing day in slovenia...but probably my favourite. We spent the morning in Piran, a very peaceful town by the sea, with small cafes on the waters edge, and many passers by walking their dogs. We took a nice stroll through the town, had a relaxing cuppa in a cute cafe, then headed off to what i had been looking forward to the most...the caves!!! When we arrived to the caves we stopped at an old castle, which was actually surrounded by caves. Hundreds of years ago, when war was taking place throughout europe, people who lived in [View Full Entry]

Today Barbara and Matjaz took me through the Julian alps. We started the day with nice long walk along a gorgeous river. Every now and then there were small pools of water, which looked quite inviting...until i realised that the water would have been no more than 8 degrees! Later that day we reached the top of another mountain that had some very whindy roads, which some of you may know just how well I handle them! I felt a little sick for a while after that, but the views from the top where all worth it! We then went for [View Full Entry]

Picture Perfect! Europe » Slovenia » Upper Carniola » Bled
Today I headed North, making my way through some beautiful places in this amazing country. On the way I stopped in Kranj to meet some of my slovenian relatives for the first time. We couldnt understand eachother, as we spoke different languages, however, Matjaz and Barbara speak both Slovenian and English, so they became our personal translators for the day! I was then able to go and visit the house where my grandpa grew up, which was quite amazing...but apparently it has changed alot since he lived there! Later that day I made my way to Bled. It is truly one [View Full Entry]

My Grandpas Childhood House!
Beautiful Lake Bled!
Bled Castle!

I arrived in Slovenia last night, and spent the day today exploring its beautiful capital,Ljubljana . The medievil style buildings, cobblestone pathways and of course, the castle, make you feel as if you have stepped back in time. It is such a peaceful city, especially compared to london. Tomorrow I am exploring more of slovenia, heading off to Bled, the Julian Alps, Bohinj and Bovec. [View Full Entry]

Overlookng the City from the Castle Tower!

I arrived in London last thursday. The flight was very long and boring by myself, but so far it was definately worth it! The past week I have been exploring London, and visiting all the touristy sites...tower of london, tower bridge, st pauls cathedral, trafalgar square and buckingham palace. I have go myself lost many times already, but thanks to the very frequent tube stations around the city, I was always able to get home. Living in the Grange has been heaps of fun...every night, at least one person has come home a bit drunk, which has been quite entertaining...especially when [View Full Entry]
