A warm hello to all our friends and family waaay up north, and welcome to our newest blog from Queenstown, New Zealand. We finished our last entry searching around for somewhere to live that wasnt a garage with a bed and a sofa in it, and after a couple of weeks searching through the local rags we spotted a cottage available to rent. Along we went for a viewing, and to our delight it was perfect for what we needed. It is a two bedroomed bungalow with a nice log fire in the living room. When lit, it makes you feel like it is actually winter your experiencing, especially whilst looking out at the snow capped mountains through the big glass doors at the front of the room. The view is even better than the ... read more

Hi everyone, and welcome to the 5th instalment of our fantastic electronic diary. Its July already and its flying over, so heres what we have been up to over the past few weeks... At the end of the last blog entry Phil had found work but I was still looking. It was frustrating sitting about doing nothing all day and I was eager to get out and start work, so it was a relief when I got an interview for a job as a lift operator on one of the local ski resorts, Coronet Peak. I thought the interview hadn't really went that well considering I told the interviewer I basically couldnt ski (a bit silly of me really, even though i've never skied in my life), but it turned out he liked me and I ... read more

Greetings family and friends! Phil and Chris reporting from Queenstown, NZ! Theres quite alot to get through and im sure your eager to hear what has befallen us, so without any further ado... We left off our last entry having finished our campervan tour, and we were back in Auckland speculating what our next course of action was to be. It was pretty clear we needed to start looking for work, and after some research on the good old world wide web we found we had two main options: firstly, we could make our way east to the kiwi fruit farms and find work in the packing houses, or we could head down to the more mountainous south island and look for work in and around the ski resorts. As we had paid for free travel ... read more

Hi all! ...So we touched down in Auckland in the North Island of New Zealand and spent a couple of days taking in what the city has to offer (not really much, trouth be told) and we ended up bumping into two lads we met in Fiji, Chris and Freddy who informed us they had just rented a campervan for quite a cheap price, so we got straight on the dog and bone and ordered us up some wheels for the next 2 weeks. If your wondering why theres a photo of a naked lad covering his intimacy with a guitar in amongst the pictures, its because we were intitled to a days free hire if we turned up naked. Chris (the lad in the photo) was brave enough to do it and Lowe had every ... read more

The amazing adventures of Phil and Lowery (Life and Death in the Yasawas): BULA!! So we left LA very happy with how the first part of the trip had worked out. After a long and uncomfortable overnight flight to Nadi in Fiji we were greeted at the airport by five local Fijian men with guitars singing a welcome song, the first of many we have heard over the past fortnight. We spent the first night in a hostel with a good pool and got aquainted with the local beer, Fiji Gold. Weve been drinking it quite alot because its the only thing really available but its ruddy disgusting, were sure its brewed using toilet water. The next morning we were collected and taken to the local port of Denarau to board our boat out on our ... read more

North America » United States March 4th 2009

Hi everyone!! Lowe and Chops here all the way from rainy LA. This is our last day in North America so we thought we would let you know what weve been up to so far. First stop was New York, after a long flight which was made better with free wine courtesy of British Airways. We were there for 4 nights and enjoyed it fully, from Times Square to the Statue of Liberty and climbing the Empire State building along the way. We also managed to get tickets to see a show on broadway which was 'Shrek The Musical', and even though it was quite expensive it was well worth it. There was so much to do we couldnt fit everything in to the time we had there. Its an amazing place, we were actually quite ... read more
