The time has come for another entry, we feel... So we bussed to lovely little Copacabana, a little hippy town on the sea-esque Lake Titikaka. We´d heard it was rather good, you see. Copacabana holds a lot of the general Bolivian charms - bowler-hatted women, drunken drum/pipe playing into the wee hours in candlelit plazas, cocoa leaf chewing, lots of altitude, and everything cheap as chips. It´s where some travellers come to and never leave, realising that their purpose in life is to sit on the street making strange looking jewellery out of feathers and sell thier wares to tourists. But [View Full Entry]

Amy here...I´ll take over now or Louise will get RSI. So Lou´s birthday resulted in two days of recovery with lots of MTV on Ashlee´s sofa in Valpo and a very hasty decision for Louise and I to fly to the party city of Buenos Aires for a few days. This decision was made in large part due to the rave reviws we´d heard of Argentinian meat and wine. And we weren´t disappointed. We stayed in the bohemian San Telmo full of quirky antique shops and bars (and the world´s most amazing bakery). First was a visit to the famous graveyard [View Full Entry]

We know, we know... here it is, then... So Amy went tripping about in the countryside in the Cameron Highlands, handling all manner of bugs and creatures and treking over carefully grown tea plantations. Unfortunately, since I´ve been designated the first half of this monstrous blog-gap which we need to fill you in on, I can´t give you much more information than that. I can however tell you that I bussed to KL to get stuck into its “eclectic charm” (the Lonely Planet phraseology is slowly creeping in to our everyday language) and have my fill of all the fabulous Indian [View Full Entry]

Oh dear oh dear oh dear...it's been a while hasn't it. Well, brace yourselves... A long long time ago in a country far far away (Cambodia) is where we left off. I believe we were still in Phnom Penh. Having a few drinks in our favourite bar, The Magic Sponge (full of British expats, Cambodia is full of British people for some reason), we spied a poster asking for volunteers at an orphanage in town to teach, help with building work, or just hang about offering passive support. We became instantly enthused by the idea and arranged to meet Mr Samith [View Full Entry]

Hey peoples, Amy here. So we last left you in Hue on our way to Hoi An. First off you need to know that we got a hotel with a big fat wet swimming pool. And it was GOOOOOD. Our first swim and our first sun bathing. Other than that we spent most of our time there eating the local seafood (traditionally wrapped in a banana leaf) and making use of the other speciality; tailored clothing. This meant sitting for hours with fashion mags and catalogues finding what we wanted and then copious fittings for each of us to get our [View Full Entry]

Hello, Louise again, apologising for a lack of entries. We've been on the move a lot recently, and frankly we're rather lazy. But I now get to fill you in on lovely Laos. We got our minivan to Chiang Khong, a border town in Northern Thailand. We stayed there just one night as the slowboat departed the next morning. Then it was a few wasted hours of border officialdom (borders are fast becomming one of our least favourite parts of travelling) and we squeezed onto our slowboat, headed for Pak Beng. Squeezed is the word, as they'd completely overbooked the boat, [View Full Entry]

Hello, Louise here, Amy's entrusted me to write one of my overly long entries on the past week, during which we've been culturaling ourselves up all nice. On Thursday we set off on a trek with our hostel, Eagle House. They're supposed to be the bees knees where eco tourism is concerned, and they offer a non-tourist trek into the jungle/countryside (not exactly sure what the definition of jungle is, but it was hot a leafy), which was sort of pricey but we thought it'd be worth it, as we'd wanted to stay away from the orangized tours thing as much [View Full Entry]

Amy here, (edited by Louise)we've got a lot to catch up on... So last time we left you we had just arrived safe and well in Bangkok. We stayed there for a while, meandering up and down and up and down Khao San Rd a million times, shopping for hippie gear by day, drinking from buckets by night. One very bucket fuelled night, I must admit, I ended up at a ping pong show while Louise innocently slept; it had to be done but a second visit will certainly not be required. We paired up with an Alaskan fire fighter couple [View Full Entry]

Hello from Thailand! On our last night in Hong Kong (which was also Chinese New Yearwe decided to check out the fabled Ladies Night, on which, if stories were to be believed, ladies could enjoy a whole night of drinking without spending a single Hong Kong dollar. We ate first on a rooftop vegetarian restaurant in a theatre on Hong Kong isand, and then headed out for a night in the sleazy end of town, Wan Chai. Rumours turned out to be true, and we decided to end our night at a respectable time of 4am, due to our flight the [View Full Entry]

Hello from Hong Kong, Louise and Amy here. We're sorry we haven't updated in a while, have been in transit. We stayed in Yangshuo for about 9 or so days, due to cheapiness, which turned out to be a bit too long. The weather - which we're sure you've all heard about - was rubbish. We didn't see any of the massive snow storms, but we got ALL the rain, and the blackouts. These weren't terrible - chinese food keeps going without electricity, thank goodness. Because of the bad weather, all the attractions of Yangshuo - caving, swimming, trekking, river cruises [View Full Entry]
