| 15th March 2006 Claire | so lovely - From: Escape from Rice Fields Oh Maddy, what a lovely journal you are keeping! It's so nice to see how well you look and I'm tickled by your recounting of your adventures. There are frequently Japanese speakers here at Arcosanti - several are here now, one is Anglo, the others are native Japanese. And if you get to Fukuoka, it would be great if you call my family to intoduce yourself and say Hello! Warm regards and enjoy the Bay area! |
| 15th March 2006 June | I miss Japan! - From: Escape from Rice Fields Hi Maddy, I just checked this blog site. It was great talking to you on the phone from Qualicum Beach! Now I'm back in the Nelson snow belt and still skiing at Whitewater. Seeing all your pictures and comments makes me "homesick " for Japan and Japanese culture now that I don't work with my CIC students. Love, June |

| 20th January 2006 aj | - From: Akemashite omedeto gozaimasu (Happy New Years!) Hey kids - love your blogs Maddy (& Colin)..and respect you both for trying to drive on the opposite side since it's messing with my head & I keep just walking into traffic - so best I don't get a hold of a car. Your clothes are awesome - will have to have an Asian costume party when we are all back home some day(Burmese face painting rocks). Greatly appreciate the comments about learning a language - I am horrendously lame - chinese sneaks in everywhere even in Burmese conversations. miss the two of you! |

| 22nd December 2005 Claire | connections - From: Flamenco and Sangria Hi Maddy, your Mom sent me your blog spot. What an adventure you are having! I think I can understand your cultural dilemma. Even though I have Japanese family in Japan, and Japanese friends in Japan (whom I've met at Arcosanti http://www.arcosanti.org - where I am now) and Japanese Sandplay Therapy colleagues in Japan - I have not been there yet myself. I'm getting my Japanese immersion vicariously, through you! Thanks! Claire PS: I'll send you contact information for any or all of them if you like! |
| 13th December 2005 Amanda | you are so cool - From: Flamenco and Sangria so... i have no idea if this works, or if you see this comment after i write it... or if everyone sees it after i write it (ha), but thought to tell you that i am thoroughly enjoying your updates, and thinking about you as i sit at my job in winnipeg manitoba, and watch it get colder and colder outside. :) will write you an email update right away, but wanted to try this comment thing out. :) love you! glad you are doing well! |
| 10th December 2005 Lost in Lofty | The N factor - From: Flamenco and Sangria Hey Team, Sorry looks like I didn`t edit enough, the N key on the computer I was using only worked part of the time and I didn`t catch all the words that were missing it. And really my English is deteriorating from lack of use and when I do use it I simplify everything. It is snowing hard today and feels like winter is settling in. The onsen was great, Kengi World. I got an email from the Prince school saying they hope I will be as happy to work for them as they are to have me. I will start full time in March, really the day I arrive in Japan. Looks like it will be a short visit home. It is great that they have been so flexible, also this way I don`t have to use up all my holiday time and Colin and I will still be able to travel in Japan. Love Maddy. |
| 10th December 2005 Megan | Scary Foods - From: At last we figured it out! (We hope) You are so brave to try one gross looking thing every meal. Stef and I went to a traditional Chinese wedding last weekend and I passed on about 90% of the 10 course meal. I was grossed out purely by the visual, I didn't even ask what it was to know that I did not want to eat it. I love reading your blogs.Keep it up. Love Megan |
